In LEC's first race just a few months ago at Ashby Puerorum , the riders had to put up with conditions likened to a tropical storm. At the same venue in the clubs latest race though, the weather and the terrain coudn't have been any different. With temperatures hitting 20 degrees, the only slightly aggravating factor was perhaps the dust being blown up from the rider in front !!
Once again, the club had put countless hours of work into building the 5 mile course for the 130 or so competitors. It's always good to see such development to route changes at the well known venue near Horncastle. Fast sections through stubble fields were combined with a Moto X section, man made rocky areas, and tricky sections through the local plantations.
With 4 of the 9 races now complete, the different classes are now beginning to take on some structure. However, nobody in particular seems to be grabbing any of the different classes by the scruff of the neck and taking on a commanding lead. Neil Tapper in the over 50's and Tara Hollingworth in the ladies class are the only riders so far to have won every round but they are being chased very hard by their rivals. Perhaps the next round will see somebody stick their head above the parapet !
Other winners in class at the weekend were as follows...
Best wishes should go to LEC club rider and teenager Tom Widd for the forthcoming weekend. Tom is currently in Eisenerz, Austria to compete in a toughie, the Red Bull Erzberg Rodeo.
The next race with LEC is the KORC off road centre on July 9th. Full details of the club can be found here
