Jonny Walker Ready To Race SuperEnduro 2018
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jonny Walker is ready to race the 2018 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, which begins this Saturday, December 6th in Poland.
With a successful 2017 hard enduro season brought to a close, Walker now turns his attention indoors for an eagerly awaited SuperEnduro World Championship campaign. Ending the 2017 series a close third overall, Walker enjoyed a season-long battle for championship honours.
Starting round one off the podium, Jonny grew stronger as the series progressed. Switching from his KTM 250 EXC-F to the 350 EXC-F for round three of four paid dividends, immediately scoring race wins to finish just 15 points behind eventual series champion Colton Haaker.
Along with a top three championship result, Walker also claimed the Akrapovic SuperPole award. Winning all bar one of the series’ superpole qualifiers, Walker demonstrated his outright speed on numerous occasions and looks to carry that confidence and form into the new championship.
The opening round of the 2018 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship begins in Krakow, Poland on 9th December 2017.
Jonny Walker: “I always look forward to the SuperEnduro series. The excitement, buzz and close racing is unparalleled to anything else we race. I feel like I am in a much better position starting the championship compared to how things were last year, despite dislocating my right thumb a few weeks back. Back then I had missed a lot of racing and testing due to injuries. It took until round three when we switched to the 350F that I began to find my feet. I was immediately fighting for race wins and overall podium results. For this weekend in Poland I feel like I will be starting off on the right footing. As winner of the Akrapovic SuperPole I’ve proved my speed is good, so now it’s just down to a point of getting good starts and putting my KTM upfront.”
