Successful ACU Express Insurance British Youth Motocross

The fourth round of the ACU Express Insurance British Youth Motocross at Dean Moor in Cumbria was a roaring success. Good weather, a well prepared track and a bumper entry list all played their part in making it one of the best events to date.

The West Cumbria Club did a good job in making sure everything ran smoothly and they even finished the event promptly at 16:40 to be precise.

In the 85cc Big Wheel class the wins were split between Nathan Watson, Luke Norris and Ryan Houghton. Out of five races over the weekend it was Watson who picked up the most with a haul of three victories giving him the overall win and a clear lead at the top of the Championship standings. He has a 20 point lead over Jake Millward who picked up a second and a third place at Dean Moor.

The Adult Clubman class was full and apart form the first race of the weekend Ryan Pottenger won everything else in sight. Charles Stuart won the first race of the weekend and followed that up with two second places. Pottenger is leading the Championship with 225 points, Zac Stealey is second with 214 and Robert Hail is running third on 212.

The Cobra 65cc Junior class also had a dominating force and that was Conrad Mewse who won four out of five races. He was pushed all the way by Sid Evans who was second in all of the races apart from the last one and that is because he took the win. Mewse is still heading the standings with 222 points, with Evans second on 211 and Connor Hughes on 188 in third place.

In the PAR 85cc Small Wheel class it was ACU Academy rider, Ben Watson who got overhauled twice breaking his back to back winning spree. He still won three out of the five races but Callan Cooper won the other two. He is now leading with 214 points over Watson on 212 and Connor Clark is in third place on 195.

The PAR Youth Open races turned into a Luke Hawkins and Josh Waterman battle. Hawkins, who is part of the ACU Academy, took two wins as did Waterman and Daniel McCanney was waiting in the wings to pick up a win for himself. It is Waterman who is heading the standings with Hawkins in second place just 16 points behind and McCanney is closing in on third place just two points back off Hawkins.

The fifth round of the ACU Express Insurance British Youth Motocross Championship will take place on the 18th-19th July at Cusses Gorse in Hampshire. For further information please visit www.bymx.org.
