XC Isle of Man

Newly formed club XC Isle of Man held the first round of it's 2010 Schoolboy Enduro Championship on Sunday 28th February and it turned out to be a very popular opener. Former British Enduro Champion Juan Knight, amongst others, formed the club towards the end of 2009 with the idea of running events other than the motocross to help the youngsters to develop their off-road skills. The opening round attracted a very healthy entry with over sixty riders taking part at the West Kimmeragh venue by kind permission of Ramsey MCC.

Kawasaki mounted Ryan Cringle, 16 years old, showed his 2009 Isle of Man Schoolboy Motocross championship winning form by taking his 250F to victory in the 125/250F class by a comfortable margin. Over a 90 minute period, Cringle completed twenty seven laps of the course which was narrow and technical. Michael Evans had a good return to action after nearly three months out following a broken collar bone, finishing third, with Lewis Malone beating him to the line for second place, both completing twenty four laps.

Nathan Swift claimed victory in the big wheel 85 class, completing twenty seven laps with Mark Turner and Ben Rice making the top three. Not to be out done by his elder brother, Jamie Cringle also on a Kawasaki won his class, claiming the honours in the small wheel 85 class. Daniel McGhee and Stefan Kelly completed the top three.

In the 65 class, it was Jed Etchells first to finish after the hour mark to complete his fifteenth and final lap. Dillon Cowie and Lee Dentith came second and third completing fourteen and thirteen laps respectively.

The Auto class proved to be popular, with the youngsters having to compete on the same course with assistance readily available in the more technical parts of the course. Max Ingham had a solid ride, lapping everyone apart from second placed Thomas Knight (David's nephew). Max managed thirteen laps, closely followed by Thomas on twelve with third placed Jade Lund getting in eleven laps.

XC Isle of Man would like to thank Ramsey MCC for the use of the track and are donating £600 from the event's entries and a further £96 which spectators donated on the day to help with the cost of hopefully purchasing the Kimmeragh venue.

XC Isle of Man are hoping to run the second round of the Championship during the Easter weekend.
