East Lothian Motorcyclists top the Scottish Enduro Championship.

Two East Lothian riders are leading their respective Classes in the Scottish Enduro Championship. Reigning Scottish Expert Champion Murray Thomson 38 (left) from Garvald heads the Championship following a win and a second place at the Melville two day Enduro at Pathhead last weekend. Murray was pleased to take the win on Saturday despite not being able to get into a good rhythm on the day. Derek Little upped his pace on Sunday to take the overall win on Sunday by just 2 seconds from Murray. Murray now heads the Expert Championship after three rounds.

In the Clubman Class Neil Chatham 16 (below) from Gullane won on Saturday as rival Stuart Mowbray lost his time card. The 60-point penalty dropped Stuart to sixth and Neil took the Clubman class win overall. On Sunday Neil crashed 15 minutes into his five-hour day on the bike and thought he had damaged ligaments, in pain he struggled on to the finish. Following a visit to the hospital that evening he was found to have a fractured arm. Despite this he won the Clubman class overall to complete a hat trick of wins since the start of the season. The next round of the Championship is at Beattock in June with the British Championship kicking off in July, therefore he will have to work hard to be fit again by then.

Murray Thomson and Neil Chatham are both members of the Melville Motor Club and intend to compete in the British and Scottish Enduro Championships.
