More New look for 2009 Kawasaki KX 4-strokes Kawasaki is pleased to announce that its leading 4-stroke machines, the KX250F and the KX450F, have been given a new look and some major changes to keep them both firmly at the front of the pack for the 2009 season. Both machines are already widely recognised as providing an excellent platform for experienced riders to win races in the top classes and these new upgrades make both packages better still. The 2009 Kawasaki KX250F has been further developed and changes include a new cylinder head, cylinder, piston and crankcases, a lighter, slimmer chassis sporting a low-friction coated front fork and completely new bodywork designed to facilitate even more responsive rider control. With the design of the new chassis, rigidity balance was re-evaluated to gain a more flexible and lightweight package. While maintaining the high-speed straight-line stability of the previous quarter litre model, the '09 is designed to offer lighter handling in tight corners. To further increase chassis potential, the new KX250F features a low-friction titanium coating on its front forks - making it the first in its class with coated fork inner tubes. Spec sheets In the bigger class, the 2009 KX450F retains its competitive edge with a number of major changes - the biggest of all being a switch to fuel injection. While maintaining the hard-hitting engine character of its predecessor, the new fuel-injected engine offers stable fuel-metering even in vigorous racing situations. Further improvements deliver smooth, controlled power delivery and changes to the chassis focus on making the new KX450F even easier to ride. Spec sheets So for 2009 both the KX250F and the KX450F have an all new look, practical and innovative development upgrades and sharper factory racer styling that is bound to turn heads in the paddock.

The attached drawing reveals a flavour of the machine that will be launched in the flesh at one of the major two wheel shows later this year. Whilst the production version is not scheduled to be on sale until the second half of 2009, CCM are set to return to the racing arena with a prototype model early in 2008. With a great history and heritage of racing success alongside names such as John Banks, Bob Wright, Greg Hanson and the late Donny Schmidt, CCM is currently in negotiations with a handpicked selection of top ten British motocross riders ready for their full assault on the MX1 Maxxis Championship next year. With the right results, CCM is also looking at the opportunity of making a few appearances on the World stage in 2008 in readiness for full campaigns in 2009/ 2010. Aside from contracting a suitable rider, CCM is also in the process of recruiting other key personnel to work under the guidance of newly appointed race team manager, Bob Bratcher who has more than twenty years experience on the Grand Prix motocross scene. Just twelve handmade bikes will be produced purely for team use in 2008, these will not only hopefully propel CCM back to the winners' rostrum, but will also be the testing ground for future production models. Whilst exact technical details cannot be released at this moment, the bikes will incorporate several revolutionary features. These include a unique bonded aluminium chassis that is being developed in conjunction with engineers from Aston Martin and Lotus, and will be a first for the motocross World. The bike has been designed to run on Bio-Ethanol E85 fuel and will use a one-piece carbon fibre sub-frame / airbox. The CMX450, as the project has been code named, is based on a single cylinder 450cc, liquid cooled four stroke engine with five valves and a DOHC. This will be fed via a Keihin carburettor that will be supplied by the eight-litre handmade carbon fibre fuel tank. A titanium exhaust system rounds out a bike that in every sense will be a true factory special. CCM's Managing Director Gary Harthern confirmed the importance of this project to the company. "This is a very exciting development for CCM and one we have been working on for sometime. We still believe in the 'race on Sunday, sell on Monday' approach to reinforce to our customers the pedigree of the bikes we build, so it will be great to be back racing at a high level." "We have won domestic titles and even the World Four stroke championship with Donny Schmidt, but despite coming close, never a GP, nor a World title. Whilst we know it is going to be a tough road ahead, I feel we can be on the pace next year at British level before moving up to the World championship in 2009. I think people will be impressed at the highly technical nature of the CMX450 when it breaks cover later in the year." Concluded Harthern. The four-stroke motocross revolution is set to continue with the new small-capacity CRF150. Despite being ‘only’ a 150, the four-stroke punch and power is still there, making this unmistakably one of the CRF family. This latest addition to the series is going to transform the smaller capacity racing classes and follow the revolutionary four-stroke trend so successfully set by Honda’s CRF450R and CRF250R machines.
Ultimate tool for Enduro racing Kawasaki KLX450R Welcome back to the world of Enduro racing: Since the debut of the highly acclaimed Motocross flagship KX450F two short years ago, the Kawasaki fans have been waiting for a purpose-built Enduro machine armed with class-leading 4-stroke engine technology and race-proven chassis know-how. Now the all-new KLX450R Kawasaki is offering the company's lightest, fastest and most powerful big-bore 4-stroke Enduro machine ever. The KLX450R gets its key components straight out of our mighty KX450F motocrosser and adapts them for Enduro racing. To transform the liquid-cooled 449 cm3 KX450F power unit into an Enduro racing winner, the highly acclaimed engine has been tweaked for more low-end torque and is mated to a special wide-ratio 5-speed transmission - and of course comes with an electric starter. The result is a wide spread of responsive, high-traction torque and superior throttle control for low-speed manoeuvring. The numerous modifications also contribute enhanced durability and reliability to ensure that both man and machine reach the finish line. Same as the power plant, the KLX450R's lightweight aluminium frame is also based on the KX. Whether negotiating narrow trails or manoeuvring between rocks and trees, the KLX450R has the lightweight and responsive handling qualities needed to enable riders to go the distance in off-road racing and to minimise fatigue. The KLX450R shares the same top-of-the-line suspension as the championship-winning KX450F. Where the KX settings maximise sprint and jumping performance, for the KLX, settings were chosen for light, easy handling characteristics. The racing equipment includes petal disc brakes, lightweight digital instrumentation, a LED tail lamp, and a plastic fuel tank with a eight litre capacity. Out of the crate, off-road competitors can now enjoy the same incredible engine and the same outstanding frame and suspension technologies as our class-leading KX450F, but in a bike purpose-built to excel in Enduro racing.
Far from resting on their laurels, following the highly successful launch of their FT35 Flat track model in the third quarter of last year, CCM is now proud to announce details of yet another new model. The CCM SR40 Street Scrambler will be officially launched at the NEC International Motorcycle and Scooter Show in October 2006. Influenced by the highly acclaimed CCM motocross bikes of the 1970's and 1980's, as ridden by the famous flying Bob Wright and co, the theme of the SR40 is very much back to basics, with simplicity being the over riding style. Although the retro racer is predominately a road going machine, because of its minimal size and weight, it is equally comfortable away from the tarmac too. As per the FT35, the SR40 will also be a limited edition model from the Bolton based manufacturer, with production scheduled to start early in 2007. Whilst the final specification of the SR40 is yet to be confirmed, the key features of the new street scrambler are as follows: CCM SR40 - Street Scrambler
