2008 Moggstar BYMX Championship

Preview for Round 4 Moggstar ACU BYMX Championship Leuchars, Fife 21st/22nd June 2008

All roads lead to Scotland for the Fourth Round of the Moggstar ACU BYMX Championship at the Commerton Farm track in Leuchars, nr St Andrews, Fife on 21st - 22nd June 2008.

With the track being prepared by Johnny Hamilton the week prior to the meeting, spectators and competitors are sure to be in for a fantastic meeting, as the series hots up in all classes. Bobby Blair from the organising Glenrothes club has asked the ACU to let everybody know that the track and paddock area will not be open until 12.30pm on Friday the 20th June 2008.

In the Junior 65 class, Ben Green will be looking to extend his Championship lead at Leuchars, but with Scotland's Ryan Snaith coming back after his disappointment at Brampton, and a win in the recent Elite Cup, he will be the one to watch. Robert Yates, Jack Wilson and another Scottish front-runner, Jay Lamb, will also be gunning for the wins.

The Small Wheel 85 class will see close racing again, as Jordan Godwin and James Dunn battle for the honours following their frantic duels at Brampton. Dunn claimed the overall victory by winning the final race, after both finished on the same points. This class will once again be one to watch, as Callan Cooper and Michael Eccles will be there to upset the top two if they falter.

The Big Wheel class is all about one man, PAR Homes youngster Luke Hawkins, who in the last two rounds stays unbeaten. With eight race wins to his credit, Luke takes a 49 point advantage to Leuchars. Can he do the clean sweep again with Ryan Houghton, Daniel Hutchinson and Jamie McCanney hot on his tail, along with a host of other riders?

The Open class is not set in stone as yet, but with Joe Gregory leading the championship by just 8 points from Scotland's Tommy Fenwick, who will certainly want to impress and improve from his Championship standing on home turf. With only a 48 points difference between the leader and the man in sixth place, Edward Allingham, any of the top six, Fenwick, King, Elderfield, Trickett and Allingham could take the lead if any mistakes are made by the leaders. The class is wide open and should, once again be excellent races to watch.

Other riders wanting to impress the local crowd will be Stuart Simpson, Robbie Fifer in the 65 class, John Adamson, Fraser Polen SW85's, William Lambie, Dan Thornhill in the BW85's and in the Open class Tommy Fenwick, Sean McDonald and Ryan Blair, plus a host of young riders from the region.

The circuit at Commerton Farm, Leuchars will be sign posted from the A91 main St Andrews road. Practice starts approximately 9.30 AM.

2008 Moggstar BYMX Championship

The ACU Motocross Department is pleased to announce full details of the premier youth motocross series for 2008 the Moggstar BYMX Championship, supported by PAR Homes.

This season the Series will again have rounds in Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and on the Welsh border, making it a true British Championship, offering at least one 'home' round to many riders. Once more the Championship will visit tracks due to hold a Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship Round - Desertmartin and Brampton. There will also be visits to two new venues, Woodford, Northamptonshire and Cusses Gorse, Wiltshire, but with the Championship's initial visit to Brookthorpe in 2007, proving to be an excellent circuit for both riders and spectators alike, we look forward these new Rounds.

Due to the popularity of Brookthorpe the Committee have decided to finish the Championship at circuit and with this enthusiastic organising Club, Severn Valley MC.

Because this list of dates and venues have been so late in being finalised the ACU Motocross Committee have agreed to an extension in the Closing Date for entries, the final deadline for registration to the 2008 Moggstar BYMX Championship will be 15th February 2008.
