FIM Enduro Strategic Committee meet in Mies 

A meeting was held on April 7 at the FIM headquarters in Mies (Switzerland) between the Enduro bike Manufacturers - representatives of the Japanese and European motorcycle industry Messrs Berthold Hauser (BMW), Roger Harvey (Honda), Davide Rizzi & Franco Mayr (HM HONDA), Martino Bianchi & Fabrizio Azzalin (Husqvarna), Winfried Kerschhaggl (KTM), Didier Tirard (SHERCO), Huub Forschelen (Yamaha); the FIM Enduro World Championship Promoter ABC Mr Alain Blanchard; the FIM Indoor Enduro World Cup Promoter RPM Racing Mr Jordi Castells and other FIM officials - Messrs Amedeo Michelotti, President of the CER Commission, Ignacio Verneda Sports Director, Olivier Godallier Marketing & Communications Director and Christian Mercier CER Coordinator.

Amongst other things, It was decided that the FIM and the Enduro Industry would work together on different subjects such as the development of training camps for young and women riders, the creation of a FIM certification for Enduro bikes as well as improvement in the format of the Championships in order to make them more attractive to the spectators and media. 

Calendar issues were also discussed and it was agreed to harmonise the Indoor and Outdoor championships in the future. For 2010 and 2011 the maximum events for the FIM Enduro World Championship should be between 9 and 10 per year, for the FIM Indoor Enduro World Cup between 4 and 5. From 2011 & 2012 events outside Europe should be regularly included in the calendar. Furthermore, all participants agreed on the importance of the FIM International Six Days’ of Enduro (ISDE).

The FIM Enduro World Championship promoter proposed the creation of a new Enduro Class called “Enduro Grand Prix”, a subject which will still need further development.

The next meeting of the Enduro Strategic Committee will be held in Mies in October 2009.


FIM Women's Motocross World Championship

 The FIM and YouthStream are pleased to announce that YouthStream (Promoter of the FIM Women's Motocross World Championship) will provide TV coverage for the entire FIM Women's Motocross World Championship without any cost to the participants. Consequently, women riders will not be subject to participation fees in this FIM World Championship. Furthermore, the FIM and YouthStream re-affirm that they will continue their joint efforts to promote the participation of women in Motocross in the future.

2008 FIM Congress – Durban, South Africa

After the opening Ceremony this morning, the 124th FIM Congress started with the first session of the General Assembly in the International Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa, in the presence of the delegates of 77 National Federations. In his opening address, President Vito Ippolito made a report on the FIM activities during the 2008 season; the report was unanimously approved by the General Assembly, as well as the 2007 accounts and balance sheet and the report of the internal auditors.The annual reports of the Presidents of the Continental Unions, Commissions and Panels were also unanimously approved.

During the elections for the vacant posts, Messrs. Andrzej Witkowski (Poland), Robert Rasor (United States) and Juan Moreta (Spain) were elected FIM Vice-Presidents. Messrs. Gerhard Becker (Germany) and Angelos Bavellas (Greece) were elected FIM Internal Auditors. - The 2009 budget was approved by the General Assembly. - Mrs Beaulah Schoeman, President of the Commission Women in Motorcycling, presented the results of the CFM survey “Development of the presence of women in motorcycling”. - FIM Marketing Director Olivier Godallier made a presentation about the marketing and communication projects currently under preparation. - Tomorrow and Wednesday, the Commissions and Panels will have their working meetings.
