PMCRC
2013 SOLO IRONMAN 5hr plus 5hr Team Event
Woodberry Lane Emsworth 09-06-13
A beautiful summer’s day greeted the 130+ riders for the PMCRC
charity Ironman in which the majority of proceeds go to The
Hampshire Isle of Wight Air Ambulance which i know is such a
worthwhile cause as i have used 3 times, The loop/lap was over 5
miles and in conditions near perfect with a good few obstacles for
those that dared although there were easy routes albeit penalised
by a good time penalties.
Atmosphere as with previous Ironman’s is very relaxed and
although it is a competition and a prestigious title everyone
seemed to have taken a chill pill with breakfast and that created
lots of humour and banter, although i did not witness it but
apparently Grant Beaden (Machine Scrutineer/Examiner) did smile and
told a joke (Not quite sure i believe that really).
Everything was running to schedule.... so Ladies and Gentlemen
Please start your engines.
Hancocks 5 Hour
Overall Ironman Winner
It’s a long drive up from Cornwall but you ask Keelan Hancock was
it worth it and a penny to a pound he will say a load of gobbily
gook as with most Cornish natives i can’t understand a word he
said but what a worthy winner and successor to James Giddings
crown, both Keelan and brother Ross rode in tandem for the 5 hours
and never looked troubled once and both looked that fresh at the
end that if needed they would have repeated for another 5 hours,
and must mention both Keelan and Ross had the most unique yet
identical way of tackling the log pit ....... simply get on the
back wheel and wheelie through it .... May sound wrong to us
traditionalists but for 17 laps it worked like a dream...... long
live the Hancocks reign..... Or better still can we get James
Giddings to throw down the gauntlet for 2014.
Championship Ironman
3rd and with equal laps as the Hancock brothers was Paris Dakar
legend Stan Watt who despite getting told off at scrutineering (I
was in hysterics watching “The Legend” get such a schoolboy
telling off) rode a near immaculate race as Stan usually does
despite having a few moments in the log pit, 4th was Daniel Alldred
who has come over to Enduro/Hare n Hounds over the last 18/24
months and has really made an impact and no denying his riding
ability and speed and is now becoming a master of obstacles but in
a very sensible way and very much an assessor and analyser rather
than the Gung Ho approach that others use and i feel Daniel will be
with at the top for a long enduro career, 5th Teamsnappers most
manic rider Chris Stanger whose very own shadow feels nervous every
time Chris gets on a bike and today was no different and for those
that do not know Chris’s riding style is that is very reminiscent
of a motorcycle with its throttle jammed wide open but with the
rider still holding on for dear life ... well that’s our Chris
who is very popular due to his most entertaining style and was up
to 4th overall at one stage but somehow he got a branch that had
got between his suspension linkage and kept his rear brake on ....
a pit stop and hammer freed the branch but rear brake was now heat
sealed on so Chris being Chris continued to deafen all spectators
with the most horrendous squealing brakes for another 3 hours to
get a very commendable 16 laps and 5th in class and i really think
he would have got 3rd today if problem free.
Expert Ironman
A regular to Woodberry lane over the years is Teamsnapper rider
Jack Ayres who took the class victory with 16 completed laps and 1
more lap than anyone else in class, Jack was one of a special group
who jumped the log pit as if went wrong it could be nasty and fair
play to Jack as he did it every lap.... A Championship contender
next year i reckon, runner up was Tristan (Brains) Robinson whom i
mentioned in my last report about his stature in the Expert
ranks.... thank you Brains for making my assumptions right and a
great result for the Politics student who has a great passion for
this sport we all love, Steve White was running at the pointed end
but retired with injury, 3rd Tom Moore who has very much re ignited
his love for the sport and is very much on a high wave of
confidence, 4th Steve Bird who must be happy with the result but
dare i say looked a tad weary today and not quite as positive
especially on approach to hazards and did not look the very
consistent smooth Birdy, 5th John (JB) Brown was simply on fire
especially in a class he feels personally out of his comfort zone
(Bollocks JB) i at times today could not believe i was riding
alongside JB in Sportsman class 3 years ago as a fellow 50 year old
as the man’s ability and enthusiasm was so apparent and have to
say every time i saw JB today i smiled (with a tad jealousy) as he
has worked so damn hard to get here and deep down with JB there is
very much a sad side that if only he could turn back the clock and
start this sport he so loves as 20 year old. 6th Jamie Moller on
his very trusted yellow peril who very much goes about his business
in a quiet nearly unnoticeable way but very consistent and noticed
with the log pit that once he found a route he favoured he stuck
with it (Down the right side each time), 7th Matty Hitchcock who
had like 3 stages to his day..... started a little apprehensively
and then confidence grew and has nice riding style and made up some
places on the course and then i presume he hit the wall with about
60 – 80 minutes to go as arms dropped and was making some
mistakes but it was visible he was getting frustrated with himself
and look forward to seeing him ride again, 8th to Graham
Maunder.........
Maunder than enough (More than Enough)
Graham Maunder had what most of us would call a “day of
nightmares” “a day to forget” “Why did i get out of bed
today” ... The day before the event he is putting on a new
barrel/piston etc at the cost of £1000 , Bike lined up on start
line as they all run to their machines (Le Mans Style start) his
bike falls opposite way and snaps throttle cable so off trots
Stuart Maunder to his house and brings back spare cable prob 40
minutes later all done and away we go albeit a few laps down, first
lap over the jump he justs saves it from looping out , i then watch
him take the log pit in what i can only describe as “How did he
save that” , move on now for a couple of laps and Graham comes to
the log pit and pauses a second or two and guns the bike but as he
hits the takeoff he sort of (I have no idea how or why) but
separates from the bike albeit still trying to grab hold of whilst
10ft in the air..... all things that go up must come down but for
lucky (Not so Lucky) Graham he landed on the bike as its suspension
was rebounding and flicked him off like an unwanted bogey on your
fingertip that resulted in a very hard uncomfortable landing that
made me wince and i am sure all around at the time thought he was
seriously injured he got up recomposed and bloody well shot off
again and if that wasn’t enough an hour later he comes into view
on a corner after a small jump and nearly comes a cropper again...
so i decided i was a bad omen for him and stopped snapping him,
Graham had broken his ribs during the crash but continued and
completed 10 laps, You’re a legend Graham Maunder.
Veteran Ironman
I know very little about winner Nick Selwyn but i do know he can
ride enduro well and rode as hard on lap one as he did lap 15 an
very much deserved winner, My good pal Rob Smith completed 14 laps
and looked comfortable for the full 5 hours and pulled a good
distance between him and 3rd but could not catch Nick, 3rd went to
Chris O’Grady who was probably the most consistent of the class,
Gareth Thurgood was 4th and very much made the KTM Freeride a talk
of the paddock, 5th was PMCRC regular Mark Horswell with 11
completed laps.
Clubman A Ironman
Was always going to be the battle of the youngsters Josh Kirby and
Dan Jarratt with both completing 15 laps it was down to the
Superteen Josh to take top honours which in my opinion came down to
bike fitness as Josh was consistent all day whereas Dan was super
fast with Expert lap times at times but lack of bike time and
fitness cost him those few seconds but great battle to watch, there
was a 3rd rider in the mix who also did 15 laps but as he is older
enough to be the others Grandad i though he would wither down the
board but oh no Gollum look alike Barry Keeys ate more than 3
shredded wheat for breakfast to keep the two young upstarts on
their toes for a brilliant podium, Shaggy (Stephen Mulliner) either
rides like a true pro or doesn’t and today he didn’t but what i
can tell you is that when we are deep in the woods hidden by the
under growth trying to photo you guys unaware it becomes very
unnerving when in the distance you hear a bike and then you hear
voices as it nears, thinking two riders are having a chat...... but
oh no ... not with Shaggy Mulliner .... Quite happy to be having a
full conversation with himself .... Approach with caution. Barry
Welch and Karl Robinson both retired early.
Clubman B Ironman
14 laps and running constant Clubman A lap times goes to winner
Chris Welch who rode pretty much faultlessly today but also riding
a lot lighter, £7000 .. to be exact as just bought new 2014
Husaberg, won’t be long before we see Chris in Clubman A class,
Big John Anderson who has very similar “dig deep, never give up
style” as Chris Welch did just that today and was rewarded with
podium, Fent Eastlake who goes about his business lap after lap
fuelled on by his fan club Charlotte came home 3rd, Some say 2
wheels are better than 4 but ask Stephen Head and he will give
thumbs up for the 3 wheelers yes in 4th place our very own 3
wheeler who looked like he enjoyed the lap and dare i say enjoyed
the hazards as saw Stephen on many occasion do the log pit, Shaun
Tutt 5th and was very lucky to have posted a finish after seeing
the camera (Pose Mode Attraction) and front nose dived after jump
on the point of balance for what must have seemed an eternity, good
to see ya Shaun, 6th with 12 laps completed was Mark Brincat, 7th
Paul Dutton also on 12 laps, Teamsnappers Jason Saint was very much
the styler over the jumps in this class and surprised at his
finishing position as thought he was higher than his 8th place, 9th
was Rob Giles who seems to be getting along nicely with his new
lady Miss Gas Gas, Stephen Edy managed 7 laps. Seb Chilvers
although completed 8 laps he was out of the race for an hour as he
assisted injured rider Stewart Churchyard trackside until Stewart
was transferred to hospital, good news is that Stewart only
dislocated his shoulder (He did look in pain... bless him, although
i saw a different Stewart when he was given gas to aid the pain....
and yes Stewart I Love You Too.
Sportsman Ironman
A very close battle here that went down to the wire and if it were
political they would have a recount but by the smallest of whiskers
Daniel Dicker takes victory that would also have won Clubman B
title, so me thinks a move in class now for Daniel, Runner up was
teen Josh Brown from Stroud in Gloucestershire who really is
setting the adult class a light since his move up from Schoolboys
and has the ability and want to go a lot further in this sport he
is so passionate about despite his young years and also very much
the trier as very nearly jumped the log pit and things don’t get
much better than beating your team mate especially if your team
mate happens to be your Dad, 3rd place to John Brown who will be
chuffed with a podium but more so knowing his son Josh was 2nd,
Goose Hindley was 4th with 12 laps and was so close to getting that
podium he now wishes he hadn’t stopped so many times for a roll
up, 5th Kev Wells with 12 laps, Michael Warner and Pete Firth
completed 11 laps each, Nick Palmer surprised me today as not seen
Nick ride for a year and has become very much the Styler over the
jumps and completed 11 laps, another rider from the South West is
Cornwalls young Kieran Roy who started very cautiously but once he
found his rhythm he got into the swing of things and shame there
was not another hour as he would have made a couple more places,
Jim Ayling would have made top 3 but after his lap 1 very near loop
out in front of everybody was enough for him to silently hide mid
pack and come home 10th, My good friend Hugo Kirkwood whom i only
see twice a year at best did not have the best of starts with me
ranting and raving about how smart his Crash Helmet his and then
find out it failed scrutineering and then at the start when EVERY
other rider has gone he is still kicking over the old beast (No,
not his wife) and as i painfully watched big H kick her time and
time again and seeing he was running out of puff i had to turn away
as felt for him having travelled so far and then in a roar
reminiscent of The Braveheart charge off he thundered into the
distance and to have completed 9 laps i salute you my friend, Andy
Silverton completed 9 laps as did Graeme Searle on his trusted
Honda, Alan Searle also on a Honda completed 7 laps and could have
done 2 more but was more interested in finishing his chips off
first ;-), Dave Legge retired and had early bath, Dan Moore retired
early but won the paddock event of how many biscuits you can eat
whilst being captured on film,
5 Hour Team Event
On Yer BiKir
Team Overall Winner
I cannot put into words of how to describe the winning team of
David Biles and Mark Kirby except when we go to war i want these
two on my side, modern day warriors of the finest calibre who are
true team mates through and through and to have completed 18 laps
between them is true Ironman territory and i take my hat off to
them both and have to say David Biles jumped the pit each lap ...
well nearly every lap and once where he landed mid pit that ended
with tears in his eyes for sure and for the majority of us we would
have taken the easy route next time round but warrior David comes
round and cleanly jumps.
Championship Team
Runner up spot went to without a doubt the joint tallest team of
Andy Stevenson and Ian Watt who both rode well and looked very much
from my angle as if they enjoyed albeit a bit knackered after 17
laps, 3rd went Manny Bernardez and Si Beken in which i must not
mention Manny’s bike broke down again and that he DID not ride a
KTM for remainder of race, Si just looked uncomfortable from the
off and was lacking the Si Beken confidence that has all come down
to his knee injury that seems to hamper him but never less 15 laps
completed
Expert Team
Ashley and David Stokes on the Azego/Enduro Tyres Honda completed
17 laps and considering they do not live that far away it was their
first visit to Woodberry Lane and both very much enjoyed and David
mentioned how friendly and sociable the event was and that he was
enjoying the loop, 2nd went to Father and Son team Phil and Elliot
Davies who bring a different dimension to crashing or near misses
as they seem to have made it an art form and their riding is a
cross between Strictly Come Enduro / X Factor Games with a huge
amount of comedy thrown in, 3rd went to Matt Brown and Martin
Stenhouse whom according to Erika both looked really FIT , i
personally thought they looked gaunt and rode like girls , 4th went
to Joe Beard and Matt Hubbard whom i feel is not a match made in
heaven as you have the very deliberate intense Matt Hubbard and the
very childlike immature “Creg Ny Baa” Joe Beard but they
tolerated each other for 15 laps.
Team Veteran
Great to see this team of Andy Ball and Tim Newman having fun as
both cracking riders who have never taken themselves really
seriously and just simply enjoy being on their bikes and to win
class with 15 laps is awesome guys, Runners up Chris and David
Brawn completed 13 laps and had the best supporters out there from
what i saw, 3rd also on 13 laps was Karl (How was it for you)
Dyderski and Keith Roberts whom both had not ridden in 12 months
and too be frank i think they should not ride again for 12 mths as
both rode better than i have seen previously, 4th went to Justin
Denn and James Letts whom still completed 8 laps even after Justin
was out helping the injured Stewart Churchyard for best part of 2
hours but i know it is no consolation but both of you were riding
well and calculations work out you would have come 2nd .
Team Clubman A
A superb partnership in this father and son team Tim and Barney
Thurgood as both fast and both use their heads and i am sure Tim
knew how close a finish it would be for top 3 and that he used
right words of wisdom to Barney so that he pushed when needed and
that gave them the smallest margin to take victory over James Smith
and Dan Sopp whom are both thinking riders and had probably best
pit crew in the paddock and too have missed victory by such a small
margin is a hard pill to swallow but consolation is a podium finish
in second, 3rd went to a team that i saw breaking so many rules
that it became a joke, they were speeding every time i saw them,
neither had correct size number boards, ill fitting and totally
illegal products etc, i was going to report them but a small bribe
kept me quite and that gave The Dorset Police Team of Craig Redmond
and Neil Deakin the final podium, 4th went to another father and
son team Graham and Niles Reid who completed 15 laps and only just
missed out on a podium place, 5th went to Reg Sheppard and Sean
Hutchinson with 14 laps completed, 6th with 13 laps completed was
Wayne Holdsworth and Roy Williams whom both went out and had fun,
laughed and then saw results and thought “What the F--k were we
playing at” , always next year guys, 7th yet another father and
son team of Marc and Myles Morley Freer whom if effort was awarded
they would be on the podium that’s for sure.
Team Clubman B
David Sawtell and Derek Smith are the The Wurzels of Enduro with
their Dorset Tones and missing teeth yet on two wheels they become
what Dorset Legends are all about, yes Super Heroes they are with
14 laps completed to take the top spot, runners up Dan Taylor and
Dan Wilson must be taking it hard to be beaten by the straw eating
older folk and the two boy band look alikes must take some
consolation in they did look the part , 3rd went to Grant and Joe
Atkinson whom it very nearly ended up in tears ... didn’t it
Grant who was seen running after his bike still holding the bars
after he looped the beast coming out of the log pit of which i did
chuckle and by the backwards glance Grant gave me i don’t think
he appreciated, sorry Grant but luckily good ol Joe carried you
through ;-) Another odd team and still haven’t quite figured out
how they got together but not a bad combination of Bruno Studley
and Rick Gardner with 14 laps and just missing out on a podium by
seconds and my only suggestion is for Rick to lose a lb or two, 5th
to Jonathan and Matt Casey who both rode well and going by body
language both were enjoying immensely, Daniel Rogers and Dean
Hughes made up Team Elite who came home 6th but were on for a top
podium place until they listened to their Team Manager John Rogers
..... Oh Him i hear you all shout... Oh yes the escaped mental
patient who is as much help in the pits as chocolate fire guard on
bonfire night, 7th went to Tony and Cole Nother and by all accounts
the day started a bit too early for Tony who still appeared to be
in a drunken haze and it was funny to watch spectators as Tony rode
past and as all you could hear from them was “can you smell beer”,
luckily for Tony his son Cole saved the day with some cracking
riding to cover up Dad’s embarrassment, 8th and 13 laps for Andy
and Lloyd Gore who both had grins from ear to ear but Andy needs to
get rid of that overhang that seems to protrude from his waist and
lays on the fuel tank, not sure what it is but i am sure it hampers
your riding, 9th Sam Dimmock and Andy Walshe with 12 laps completed
and i do like Sam’s kit as i like to be reserved and
inconspicuous, Lee Whitcombe and Pete Reynolds also came home with
12 laps and 10th spot which if not for Pete continually parting
from his bike they would have been higher, Nick Spooner and Simon
gatehouse completed 11 laps.
Team Sportsman
It’s a fair cop and just the ticket when a Police Team win in the
guise of Adrian Needham and Mark Barter and with 12 laps completed
there is no case to argue M’lud, runners up Mark Stanley and
Darren Clark completed 12 laps and were going for the win and then
realised it would be foolish to overtake The Police Team especially
in front of so many witnesses, Ian Ballard and Paul Chalwin came
home 3rd which i know put a grin on Ian’s face and i know Paul
had a great day and very much enjoyed and to be on equal laps as
winners is something to be proud of, Team Dumb and Dumber (Hindley
and Hoare, sounds like Estate agents) had a great fun time going by
their body language and also completed 12 laps, 5th went to Karl
and Scott Bowling who both had a great time and both rode well
although Scott lived by dangerously with his save of the day and
was so close to the point of no return with his oh so near loop
out, 6th and still early days for newcomer to this sport Paul
Crossley who may not be the quickest but so much enjoys his ride as
does team mate Tom Wheeler who definitely has some talent there.
This was or 5th Ironman and i can honestly say hand on heart it
was the most enjoyable as the atmosphere, weather, people and
competition were all just right and it was great to see so many
teams and riders helping other teams and riders and today without
exception the sport of Enduro/Hare n Hounds won the day.
On behalf of PMCRC i would like to thank all Club Members and
volunteers who helped make the day such a success and to all the
amazing sponsors

SETRA
MCC in association with PMCRC Hare n Hounds
Chalkpit Hill Tidworth 25-11-2012
Report Rich Troth
Days and days of storms and rain, add some chalk and clay and
you have one very difficult course and that's what greeted the full
entry for SETRA MCC's Hare n Hounds at Tidworth.
Experts A great battle for a few laps between Tyson
Maytom Jones and Adam Kerr although Tyson looked the more
comfortable and eventually edged in front and never looked back,
sadly Adam had a nasty off and was taken to hospital, John Lister
who definitely got better as event wore on took runners up spot
with Mad Dog Mark Kirby taking 3rd.
Clubman A Jason Humphries kept it consistent all day and
eeked out a small advantage over Pete King and as event wore on
Pete nibbled at the lead but could not quite match the consistency
lap in and lap out of Jason which gave him the victory over Pete,
3rd was Tristan Robinson who had a game plan to stay ahead of John
Brown as would give him the class win in the Southern Centre
Championship, Job done.
Clubman B Very close class but went to form with the
consistent and fast Steve Holdsworth taking victory over David
Kirtley, the battle for 3rd went down to the wire with Scott King
taking the final podium.
Sportsman Very close between Chris Welch and Ady Matthews
but the younger man Ady took the victory and looked the stronger in
the closing stages but a great battle, 3rd went to teenager Niles
Reid.
MX Class Reg Sears and James Dance battled all day and
swapping positions from 1st to 2nd but Reg just edged the win over
James with John Stanley 3rd.

Ben
Mayhew wins at Woodberry Lane
PMCRC Rd5 & Rd3 of Centre Championships 16th Sept.
A perfect morning greeted the full line up of riders on Sunday
morning at Woodberry Lane for Round 5 of the ever competitive PMCRC
H&H championships. The track was in perfect condition with a
fast and flowing course laid out giving the riders a mix of fast
open going as well as a number of challenges including the tricky
log box section, deep ditches and the whoop section. Dry conditions
for a change would see the dust flying in all classes as the racing
was hot throughout the 3 hours.
The flagged dropped at 11am. The championship class and experts
were combined in the first wave of riders and it was Laurence Catt
on his KTM300 who quickly took the lead through the opening
motocross section as the other riders jostled for position before
disappearing into the woods in a cloud of dust for a manic first
lap which took around 16minutes. At the end of the lap the riders
were faced with the log section or had the choice of taking the
time consuming easy route. All championship and expert riders
blitzed the logs and it was still Laurence in the lead however Ben
Mayhew riding the Ground Control KTM300 had moved into second
place. It was early on lap 2 that Ben made the pass to take the
lead and by the end of the second lap had already pulled an 18
second gap. From there on Ben was never challenged and controlled
the race from the front with consistent lap times that were 20
seconds quicker than the pursuing pack. At the end the of the race
Ben took his maiden victory at PMCRC winning by a comfortable
margin of over 4 minutes.
More details to follow and check www.pmcrc.org
for the full results and lap times which will posted later this
week.
PMCRC
5hr Ironman Woodberry Lane
19-08-12
Photo & report Richard Troth
Although running on the same weekend as GP at Matterley and only
20 miles away the feelings were that entries may be low for the
very popular annual 5 hour Ironman but how wrong we all were as
good entry and with glorious sunshine it had the makings of a great
day, 5.2 mile lap which seems to be a very popular configuration in
the paddock and be great at a completely dry Woodberry that's if
there is such a thing.
Championship/Overall
Due to James Giddings hold on this title for last 2 years it
decided with James consent as the event is charity based (Hampshire
& IOW Air Ambulance) and that he would start very last behind
Sportsman, so basically 5 minutes behind his competition..... next
year make it 30 minutes as around the 2 hours he had taken the
Ironman lead and then rode his own race and gave the many
spectators a spectacle of his skills and talent and completed 17
laps which was 2 more than any other solo rider, in other words he
took the piss lol,
Expert
Dan Alldred woke up early, got in his van and drove to Portsmouth
hoping to get day entry, not only successful in getting entry but
also took expert class win on his Dad's KTM 450 with 15 laps
completed, 2nd to Teamsnapper rider Steve Bird who is continuing
his great season of podiums and gave Dan grief all day, 3rd was
Dave Coles,4th and a good days training for the ISDE for Arnaud
Didey, 5th to the wee man Dave Downes who was running in 3rd until
he hit that 3hr wall and i think Roger Frean had to force him back
out, Mark Jordan 7th who was clearly having fun by the look of his
face wearing an open faced helmet , Teamsnapper rider Jack Ayres
was running 2nd overall and leading Experts until 3.5 hours and hit
that wall and due to his concentration being so waned he pulled out
for safety reasons.... Bullshit... Jack lives on the IOW and its
Cowes week so plenty of late nights, pissed up, sex drugs and rock
n roll sadly don't mix with off road riding and heat.... enough
said. Nick Baker looked good early on but then seemed to lose a bit
of pace so unsure what happened there. DNF's for Roger Frean after
damaging hand and Simon Coventry who just hit that 3hr wall.
Veteran
A superb victory for Tim Newman of Team Psycho which has been long
awaited for the popular rider who always rides his own race and
never gets caught up in any frenzy's or duels and is one of the
most politest riders on the course (although he has been known to
kidnap relatives of riders that have been disrespectful to him on
the track and hold to ransom), 2nd and did all he could to put up a
challenge and a good one David Kirtley did until a fuel stop when
one of Tim newman's henchmen let DK know that if he passed Tim his
good wife Jan (Janpix Photography) would be in danger, well i have
never seen DK ride so hard and fast for the rest of the day
lol(Only kidding Jan), DK seemed to enjoy his visit to Woodberry
with his podium, 3rd to woodberry regular Marc Morris on Darren
Giggs old steed, 4th on his immaculately prepared WR Yamaha was
Paul Latter.
Clubman A
A great win for Welshman George Rhys who attacked Woodberry from
the off and his aggressive style was relentless over the 5 hours
and had a great battle with the not so grumpy runner up James
Pittaway but an unscheduled pit stop led James (Where did all those
toys and a pram come from lol) unable to pressure George in the
final moments although James can console himself with fastest lap
of class, 3rd was Chris O'Grady, Teamsnapper rider Dan Sopp was 4th
and kept an incredible consistent pace for the full 5 hours that
elevated him the leader board in a similar consistent manner, Si
Clark ... yes the usually quiet reserved one has obviously had a
nasty bang on the head as on few occasions was seen trying all
sorts of stunts and was wondering whether he was entering Red Bull
X-Fighters, Mark Brincat looked bored on his little 200 after
spending so much time on his tank at various rallies..... luckily
he did not bring the tank as that would have been sketchy in
certain areas, James Archer always looks like he has the world on
his shoulders and is quite expressionless as he was throughout the
event but towards the end i am sure i saw an element of pain strewn
across his face, John (JB) Brown did not deserve his 9th place and
not sure why despite JB still carrying a very painful injury
especially for 5 hours but his pace was fast and had him top 3 for
a while so unsure of his demise.
Clubman B
Two relative novices to the sport battled for the full 5 hours and
with 13 laps apiece is credit to both but Oliver Macrae did enough
for victory and post fastest lap of class from Robert Hladik, 3rd
went to the ever young Rob Smith, 4th to Fent Eastlake who very
nearly did not make 2 laps although his beautiful wife claimed the
wet patch was a weak bladder i put it down to Fent SO VERY nearly
looping at speed right in front of her ..... great save Fent, 5th
went to Teamsnapper rider Stephen Head who adapts so well to
whatever conditions and seems to prefer the dodgier/trickier
conditions as this event had, great to see Ian Watt back on a bike
as the poor man has going through torture week after week coming to
events to spectate and 5 hours it may have been and sure he is
suffering today but guaranteed the big man is still smiling, Mark
Horswell (Lurch) did he usual and rode consistently lap after lap
ignoring all (I swear he never sees or hears me shout at him) and
just gets on with it, John Willmer needs a new bike.... stop buying
secondhand shite and treat yourself to a new one and i bet if you
wanted a new skirt, handbag, dress or shoes you would'nt want to
wear anyone else's now would you ?? Ah on second thoughts forget
that question lol, Not sure whether Darren Giggs actually got out
on the course as everytime i went past the pits he was in their sat
down practising his Friday night "Boys Night" with a
banana.... don't believe well take a look in the FB gallery.
Sportsman
Dan Jarratt posted fastest lap that would have been 3rd in Clubman
A but inconsistency is his downfall for this very talented rider
that thrills the crowd with his spectacular air show yet runner up
again to Chris Welch who is quite the opposite and keeps his wheels
firmly on the ground and is one of the most consistent riders lap
in and lap out at the club and deserved the victory, 3rd went to
John Brown, Rob Giles (Previously known as Pink Boots (Don't ask..
it was a weekend thing) had a brilliant event to bag 4th with his
never give up attitude, Andrew White on his trusted Husky had mixed
day from my view as seemed to get better as event wore on, as did
Ryan Bowyer who seemed happier in the air than on the ground, Geoff
Sermon was not a happy bunny in the slick early on conditions and
he cannot deny as i heard his "Tut Tuts" as he passed,
Team Class
No undenying the winners of this class as Team Geary (Joey D and
Jack Hooper) blew all away not only their skill and aggression but
tactics of changing rider every lap... it worked and also earned
the 2nd fastest lap of all classes, 2nd Team Still Racing (Si Beken
and Manny Bernardez) a great result from 2 riders who have had some
rough times with injuries and illness, 3rd Teamsnapper Oddballs
(Aaron Dibnah and Dave(DT)Taylor) and big shout for Dibs who lent
DT one of his collection for the event, Team Flossy ..... well
without king pin Karl Robinson they could not find a replacement
but Team Captain Barry Keeys dug deep and scraped deep and when you
scrape that deep you come to the bottom of the barrel and you will
find allsorts like misfits, urchins, creatures from the bog,
scummers (people from Southampton) and of course those mid life
crisis, slightly portly round the middle, short dwarflike people
that have a whiff of grandma about them.... yes i knew you would
all guess Steve White.... well 4th place is not what Barry expected
from Steve after showing such compassion for the poor soul... back
to the barrel Steve : , 5th to Team LFB Zade and Matt who as you
would expect from the pairing was teamwork and support for each
other.... not quite the truth eh Zade as photographic evidence
proves, whilst Matt was flying the flag for LFB on the track Zade
was flying Z's yes lots of Zzzzzz's as in fast asleep lol, Team M
& K (Martin Biles and Kevin Reid) i had placed a bit higher as
thought they had great rhythm and best i have seen Martin ride for
a long time and good to him smiling again his partner in crime Kev
did a grand job out there, Team Two Tits (Pete Firth Steve
Holdsworth) 8th, Ian Andrews and Neil Houghton (Steptoe n Son)
eeerrr arrold had an interesting time with Neil looking (dare i
say) rusty and apprehensive, whereas the ginger cyclone was all
over the place yet still grinning like Bingo from The Banana
Splits, what a sight for sore eyes in Team "The two of
us" Jules Hunt n Karl (I am a polack) Dyderski who have not
ridden for a very long time.... in fact the way they rode you would
think they had never rode hee hee, only kidding guys and you both
made me smile today, Team Toby (Roy Slingo n Toby James) don't take
things too seriously (Bloody good job too hee hee) had a fun day
with smiles so job done.
Family Team
Father and son team of Phil and Elliot Davies completed 15 laps and
got fastest lap of class to deny all others, runners up another
father and son team of Barney and Tim Thurgood who were pushed all
the way by 3rd placed father and son Jamie and Peter Moller, The
Nutty Nashers (Pete n Rob)... i got a bit confused here as could
not figure out who was who...but never less 12 laps completed,
Teamsnapper Honda (Wayne Barnett n Dave Fromling) these guys are
Gems, (Great British MuppetS) who don't give a damn where they
finish or how they do.... as long as they outdo each other and
never a dull moment with Hampshires answer to Laurel n Hardy, Team
Babe Magnets, Matt Coyne....ok i get that, young, fresh faced,
witty and charming, John Coyne, wrong side of 40, bald, smelling a
bit like Grandma, sarcastic..... oh... it sounds like me.... yes..
Babe Magnets ..what a cool name. Team Father like Son had a ball...
well Cole Nother could not stop grinning all day which contradicts
Team name as i have never seen Tony smile, Karl n Scott Bowling (Lrak
& Ttocs Gnilwob)(Erika still ain't figured that out (Bless her)
who completed 10 laps and i think young Scott carried the old man a
wee bit.
The whole event is whatever you want to make it but the majority
take it as fun and enjoy the day as we do, great action and skills
by the more talented folk make it such a mixed day that it suits
all.

Motorcycle Racing Club RD1 Major Hadley Trophy
Woodberry Lane 17-06-2012 Hare n Hounds
Report Rich Troth
After the cancellation of Round 2 due to rainfall Round 3 was doubtful
until the last minute and despite the amount of rain the course held up
pretty well but a very enduring/tiring event that was a true test of skill
and fitness and a great effort had gone into the 3.5 mile course trying to
avoid the really bad bits and bring in some virgin ground.
Championship Class
The Woodberry legend Lawrence Catt shown his experience in full by leading
from start to finish and was never really troubled and posted fastest lap
of the day 11.33 and completing 15 laps, Andy Stevenson was 2nd with 13
laps, 3rd was Tony Williamson who was 2nd nearly the whole race but caught
his knee which made riding unbearable and pulled in early, not sure what
happened to Ben but he pulled off just before the end. 1 Lawrence Catt 2
Andy Stevenson 3 Tony Williamson 4 Ben Mayhew
Expert Class
Olly Mayhew made an awesome start and led the whole field for a short
while until he hit a hidden stump which he was lucky to escape unhurt he
managed to get back to pits and repair bike and was 40 minutes behind but
still managed 5th in class and 2nd fastest lap in class, 4th was Islander
Rob Taylor who was having first outing back after arm break, 3rd was last
year's champion Simon Coventry, 2nd Jamie Moller who has now developed
into a serious Expert contender, No doubting the winner Andrew Gorse who
completed 1 more lap than Jamie and posted fastest lap time in class and
came 2nd overall, Tim Newman (Team Psycho) was not on form today and
wanted me to apologise on his behalf his appalling riding that was
witnessed, Nick Baker who was last year's Clubman A Champion was in for
podium and posted 9 laps before retiring, Graham Maunder (Yes the one on
the Teamsnapper yellow Yamaha that sounds like a scolded cat being
strangled) was riding well and confidently but retired early but not sure
why although aching eardrums come to mind, 1 Andy Gorse 2 Jamie Moller 3
Simon Coventry 4 Rob Taylor 5 Olly Mayhew
Veteran Class
Great result for Team Teamsnapper as Chris Stanger won this class with 2
more laps than closest rival and claimed fastest lap of class and 3rd
overall, 2nd went to Glenn Howard who showed some great riding skills, 3rd
was Manny Bernardez (Teamsnapper Yamaha)who really is back on song after a
down period after illness,4th was Nick Dyer on the Teamsnapper Gas Gas who
was not as comfortable out there but dug deep to post finish, 5th was
Islander Graham Darby who has a very unique style which makes him very
different or could it be an Island thing (Only Kidding Graham), 6th was
big bad Bruno Studley (Yamaha) whom i have to say excelled in such horrid
conditions, 7th was Marc Morris on his very aged Yamaha yz125 that i
believe was acquired from Lord Montague's museum and to ride as well as he
did in those conditions is nothing short of Paul Daniels Hocus Pocus, my
good friend Ian Ballard posted a finish after breaking down in the far
woods and spent more time walking than riding, 1 Chris Stanger 2 Glenn
Howard 3 Manny Bernardez 4 Nick Dyer 5 Graham Darby
Clubman A
A great win for Si Clark who came up from Clubman B last year with a
fastest lap in class and 1 more lap than closest rival John Brown who was
smiling all the way round and rode with confidence and consistency, 3rd
went to Peter Moller whom battled all day with the big Husaberg in such
slippery conditions who so deserved that podium, sadly for Joe Atkinson
who was leading this class had the same problem that halted his RORE event
a fortnight back which seems fuel/electrical.
1 Si Clark 2 John Brown 3 Peter Moller 4 Chris O'Grady 5 Joe Atkinson
Clubman B
Rob Smith and good friend David Sawtell must have a great drive/chat
together on way home after claiming 1st and 2nd in class with Rob claiming
fastest lap, David was especially elated and i tried after event to get
quick interview but even with my ability to speak 5 languages i was unable
to interpret deep Dorset tones although Rob did try and help but to be
honest it was like Bill and Ben talking, 3rd was Ian Andrews all top 3
completed 11 laps, great result for Mark Horswell in 6th on his new KTM
and showed some good skills out there today, 7th was Rick Gardner who
really does have good bike control and ability and cannot get my head
around why he is not winning at this level, PMCRC's very own secretary
Simon Stevens (KTM) made the top 10 with a ride that also included hurling
abuse at the snappers who were waiting in ambush for him, Grant Atkinson
had a solid ride with 9 completed laps, Stewart Churchyard (Teamsnapper
Yamaha) did say to me he was having a bad day at the office or at least i
think that's what he said as he sliding down the bank into a heap but
plugged away for 7 laps, Keith Roberts was having first outing since last
year and probably wishes he had stayed in bed but as usual dug deep with 7
laps, Neil Houghton former PMCRC Chairman was not enjoying himself out
there and was heard moaning from corner to corner and although i do not
believe for a minute he completed 5 laps however that's what results state
(Only kidding Tiger) , Rob Fry has had better days as took so long to do
one lap we sent out search party and thankfully was found having a kip
under a bush, Martyn Gale retired early with hand problems but stayed to
support Rob Fry ........ not one of Martyn's best ideas. 1 Rob Smith 2
David Sawtell 3 Ian Andrews 4 David Penfold 5 Matt Luckett
Sportsman Class
Dan Jarratt won with 2 lap's more than closest rival as well as claiming
fastest lap and 9th overall and i now think people are believing me when i
said this lad will be good if he digs deep, concentrates and posts
finishes no matter what, 2nd was Team Psycho Chris Welch who is not quite
the full ticket went sightseeing in Chichester with known oddball Tim
Newman before they arrived at Woodberry today, the pair should be
approached with caution, Robert Hladik 3rd and another great result for
Robert who is in his first season of Enduro, 4th and very hard earned at
that for Andrew White, Seb Chilvers made the top 10 but was not happy in
the woods as prefers the outside as tops his tan up better, Nick Summers
also in top 10 with 8 laps posted, Lance Hindley was all over the place
(Literally) as he landed on top of me while he posed going over the log
but still battled on for 7 laps, Karl Bowling was another rider who
decided to fall off in front of me and instead of the usual hissy fits you
riders do Karl just chuckled (Odd behaviour i think ) and as if that
wasn't enough young William Webb did very much the same thing but credit
due to William as lugging that old heavy XR Honda around in those
conditions is admirable, Poor Stuart Maunder gets holeshot in class and
ahead of his good buddy Dan Jarratt and all is looking rosy ........
Another sad ending...... Puncture and a DNF 1 Dan Jarratt 2 Chris Welch 3
Robert Hladik 4 Andrew White 5 Darren Clark

Motorcycle Racing Club RD1 Major Hadley Trophy
Woodberry Lane 15-04-2012 Hare n Hounds
Report & Photo by Rich Troth www.teamsnapper.co.uk
A beautiful morning greeted us upon arrival at Woodberry Lane Nr Portsmouth
for the much awaited first round of their very popular Major Hadley trophy
series which is spread over the year with 6 rounds, but as beautiful the
morning was there had been constant downpours over the last 2 weeks so it was
out with the quad to check out a lap. The top part of Woodberry is usually the
better half when the rain has been this constant but due to the work put in by
PMCRC track team with drainage channels and other forms of getting the water
away made the top half a very muddy slippery affair but as you made your way
through the course it got drier in the middle and some lower parts and then
towards the end it got wet again but massive improvements from previous events
in similar conditions. The 4 mile lap included 3 Hard/Extreme routes which i
am all for as long as if you opt for easier route your penalised by time and
glad to say today it was worth taking the risk of the hard routes by saving so
much time and was good to see so many Sportsman trying the harder stuff, the
lap flowed nicely with no really slow trials bits which was pleasing in these
conditions as the ground at Woodberry holds the water on the surface due to
the clay like material so once a couple of laps have been done it actually
becomes slipperier and today was going to be one of those events that i am
pleased to be behind a camera instead of a bike.
Entry list was full and included some very welcome top class riders
including the legend Stan Watt, Danny Hall, Daniel Price, Andrew Gorse,
Lawrence Catt, and Rob Carey. Scrutineering and Signing on went like clockwork
simply due to the organisation skills of the PMCRC team who only do this out
of passion and love of the sport.
Championship Class
What can i say about the winner of this class in such conditions but that
skill/talent won the day, well one word "PRICELESS" the Teamsnapper
rider on the Phoenix Yamaha Daniel Price who led from start to finish in a
style that was magical and even graceful to watch and even Joe Dyke's Dad Paul
who has been around the off road circuit for a many years and knows Dan well
was speechless at how quick Dan adapted and stamped his authority over the
rest, and then simply controlled it from the front listening from his team at
each time check and ran away with it completing 13 laps and setting the
fastest lap by some 20 seconds, this had to be applauded, it was now down to
the other podiums positions to sort, Lawrence Catt (KTM) started well and
relishes in these conditions but not sure what happened as he went off the
radar and dropped a few positions very quickly so i imagine a slight
mechanical somewhere but he did get back in the groove and got second fastest
lap and came home 5th, Andy Stevenson (Yamaha) who did not ride last season
and full credit to Andy jumping back into the deep end in the Champ class but
at the end of the day he proved that's where he should be with 12 laps under
his belt, Steve Harding (KTM) from the Rogers Hill Team really looked like he
was having fun and simply enjoying time on his bike and completing 12 laps in
the mean time and entertaining me over the jumps, My good friend Danny Hall
from Rogers Hill also started well and was quite comfortable in 3rd position
for a while until a fuel problem on his KTM , after a long push back to the
pits he got her going again and finished a very well deserved 6th place, Stan
Watt on the Crescent KTM was in his element and looked the most comfortable
out there besides Dan Price and looked like a runners up spot was his but then
I am unsure why he slowed/dropped back as before i knew it he was down in 4th
and that's where he finished, 3rd place went to Tony Williamson (KTM) who is
so talented yet at the same time so damn frustrating (In a nice way Tony) as
Tony is a racer at heart and nothing will change that and would have come home
second if he had the attitude to use his head and realise points make prizes
but due to Tony's style of riding it makes him one of the popular entertainers
out there with his full on wide open style and i personally saw him crash 4
times and love watching him, so carry on as you are Tony, Runner up went to
the very likeable legend in Rob Carey who rode his own race and concentrated
on himself and simply down to his experience he silently carved his way
through the field to get that runners up spot.
Paul Merriman(KTM) after long term injury completed 8 laps simply as
personal test to himself, Ben Mayhew (KTM) has had a long term virus and
fatigued early and pulled off after 6 laps, Simon Coventry (TM) started with a
shoulder injury and realised the conditions were not apt too pulled out after
one lap, Sadly Andy Ball (KTM) had an off that looked quite nasty and looks
like a knee injury that may keep Andy off the bike for a few weeks, All the
best Andy from Teamsnapper and PMCRC.
Expert Class
Another strong class here and good to see Aaron Dibnah (Teamsnapper Dibby
Racing KTM) enter the Expert class and it showed by his lap times that he is
in the right group and personally think it will bring him along quicker,
Graham Maunder (Teamsnapper Yamaha) who had last season off made the top 10
and good lap times and he can only improve in bike fitness as did noticeably
tire in the latter stages, PMCRC stalwart Mark Jordan (KTM) used his
experience and skill to get 7th spot, Jamie Moller (Gas Gas) who has become
expert class and a superb result in 6th place and i feel that Jamie has
improved noticeably since he went to an Ady Smith Enduro school with his Dad
Peter so looking forward to seeing the more aggressive Jamie through the
season, Nick Baker(KTM) 5th who won Clubman A last year made his presence felt
in the Expert Class Nick is one of those silent riders who is not fast and
frantic nor slow but forgets about all others and concentrates on himself and
his race and does not get involved in duels and with this proper Enduro
attitude he will always finish and always score points and he will be on the
podium a few times this season, Husaberg mounted and nice guy Jacque Stevens
whom i actually thought had come 2nd or at worst 3rd came home 4th according
to data, i like Jacques style and gets better as the event evolves and he is
very fit which showed today, 3rd went to Flight Commander Olly Mayhew who
spends more time airborne than on the ground and was leading this group by a
fair margin at one stage but being from the MX background and an all out racer
he crashed and burned a few times but such a spectacle to watch, 2nd and dare
i say a lucky 2nd to Teamsnapper rider Joe Dyke (Joey D) on his Suzuki who
rode hard and fast and got the lead but hit that wall towards the end to such
an extent he pulled off recomposed and i think having such a strong following
of family and friends here sort of re-energised him and went back out (nearly
taking me out in the process, my fault though..... well 70/30 lol) to come
home 2nd which left victory to the local rider (who ironically had never
ridden Woodberry before) and British Championship contender Andy Gorse (KTM)
who to be honest made hard work of it and had to dig deep at times but
experience and talent put together here in these conditions were the two key
ingredients Andy bought with him to get the victory and fastest lap of the
class and he enjoyed himself and think we will see him again if he has that
free Sunday and very much welcome he is.
Stephen Mulliner (Yamaha) is no fan of these conditions and carrying a back
injury pulled out early as did both Team Psycho riders Tom Moore and Tim
Newman, Dan Groom (KTM) also had early bath but riding well up until then.
Veteran Class
Well i have a very big smile on my face writing this as the top 3 were all
Teamsnapper Riders with Wayne Player (No1 Power Cleaner KTM) who controlled
this from the off and was not troubled once and posted fastest lap of class,
3rd went to Nick Dyer (Gas Gas) who rode with his head and looked quite happy
out there in the muddy conditions, however i have to raise my glass to my best
friend Chris Stanger (Orange Bike) who has had nothing but misery this year as
well as a debilitating virus and to come home 2nd being so un bike fit is a
credit to his will and strength of character although his choice of machinery
is still out with the jury. Tom Connor (Yamaha) 4th whom i know nothing about
but really knows how to ride and look forward to seeing him in better
conditions and must say what a lovely prepared and looking bike , 5th to the
likeable KTM mounted Steve O'Brien who was definitely having fun out there
with the odd bit of show boating, 6th Steve Holdsworth (On a very old Honda)
whom i also know very little about but what i can tell you is that the man is
completely mental on a motorcycle and gave me 3 hours of entertainment (Thank
you Steve), 7th to the man in Sky Blue Brian Hawker (KTM) whom i had not seen
for a long time and great to see him and to see him out there enjoying
himself, 8th to Gareth Allen (Yamaha) with very consistent laps throughout the
event, 9th to last year's Sportsman Class winner Husqvarna mounted Ian Watt
who posted some quick laps but lacked his usual consistent lap after lap
times, finishing the top 10 was Rogers Hill rider Ivan Finkelstein(KTM) whom
if he took himself a bit more seriously would be top 5 week in week out. Other
Notables lee Whitcombe (KTM) completed 9 laps and has the one upmanship on his
best mate and rival Pete Reynolds (Husaberg) who only made 7 laps, Bruno
Studley (Yamaha) 7 laps, My good friend and Teamsnapper rider Manny Bernardez
(Yamaha) who really should have been be top 4 today did not enjoy or relish
the event and bike fitness not up to scratch as well as not being the usual
over enthusiastic Manny we all love only completed 6 laps but am sure the wee
man will be soon back to fitness with a shot of enthusiasm and all be back to
normal, Sean Earlam (KTM) completed 6 laps which was awesome as does not ride
so often these days (Other Family Commitments Dictate) but when he does get
out the red faced which shines through his helmet and goggles is not of pain
but glee (What a load of bollocks), i always think Sean is holding his breath
for 10 minutes at a time but what i do know is he loves his off roading and
has great family support, Gary Ruckley who started well but i think had
problem completed 6 laps, Ian Ballard (Husqvarna) who soldiered on for 5 laps
in conditions that even made him frown, Richard Messenger (KTM) posted a DNF
but completed 2 laps, Tony Nother (Husqvarna) posted a DNF and Craig Roy whom
i believe used to ride in his younger years had a baptism of fire in these
conditions and posted a DNF but truely hope it has not put him off as things
can only get better (Please do not hold me to that).
Clubman A Class
The winner in this class was a clear outright winner and posted a lap time of
nearly one minute quicker than his closest rival and would have finished 4th
in the expert class and what a talent he was in these conditions Jack Ayres (KTM),
2nd was the very stylish and my pre season favourite to win the class was
Oliver Macrae (Yamaha) who seems to do well whatever the conditions and a
great start to the season for 3rd place Dan Goodwin (KTM) who can usually be
found running in the top 3 of SEEC events but in the Vet A class but today he
proved his worth and experience mixing it with the youngsters and well
deserved podium, so close yet so far for the local young Joe Atkinson(KTM) who
will be a podium visitor many times this season i am sure but proved his worth
in these tacky conditions, Si Clark (KTM) another promoted rider from last
season had a bad start and had to work hard throughout the day to get 5th spot
but impressed me under pressure from the off in the conditions, 6th went to
Teamsnapper rider Tristan Robinson (Dibby Racing KTM) yes you read that right,
Tristan had just signed a six figure contract to ride for the eccentric odd
ball Aaron Dibnah literally before the start of the event but coming home in a
respectable 6th place he was not happy and told the eccentric team owner to
stick his KTM where the sun don't shine, so expect Tristan to be back on a
Nick Robinson Gas Gas next event, only kidding folks a big thank you to Aaron
Dibnah(Team Dibby Racing) for lending Tristan a bike for the event, 7th to
Neal Martin (Husaberg) who not only completed 9 laps but wins my award for
being the brightest and most colourful rider out there and was good to try out
my new sun glasses, 8th to John Brown on the Whiteways Cafe KTM who does not
care what course is put in front of him and just gets on with it and i think
JB will be happy with today's result (I did say think), 9th to Pops Moller (Husaberg)
known to others as Peter Moller having (I think) his baptism in "Orrible
Conditions" since his return after injury so a great result, 10th and
first visit to Woodberry for Halycon Book KTM rider Matthew Hubbard who
completed 9 laps, Other Notables James Pittaway (KTM) who was in contention
for podium but his love of trees continues (although kissing them at that
speed is not good for one's health) still made 11th, Honda mounted Mr Nice Guy
Martin Biles made 12th but looked better out there than his position dictates
and hoping martin will be regular top 10 throughout the season, Russ Jacobs (KTM)
posted a DNF after 3 laps, My good friend Barry Welch (KTM) also posted DNF
after 3 laps.
Clubman B Class
Well who would have believed it, Ian Andrews the Red Haired KTM rider who this
morning looked so unorganised (Yet Unfluttered) wins the class and gets
fastest lap and watching Ian throughout the day although i witnessed him
coming off and over shooting and getting in wrong lane etc he never once
looked liked giving up and he just seemed to grit his teeth and get on with it
and a credit to himself (Well done Ian), 2nd to Rob Smith (KTM) who is still
running on confidence after his recent Ashdown farm ride led the class for a
while but only Rob and Ian managed 10 laps so great result (Love your helmet
colours by the way ), 3rd to David Sawtell (KTM) who rode consistently lap
after lap and very much earned the final podium place, 4th Tom Harbon (Suzuki)
, 5th Derek Smith (KTM) whom will be pleased with top 5 and proves consistent
lap times makes prizes and points, 6th to Tom Bradley the man who not only
rides a KTM but dresses accordingly in Black n Orange race kit plus helmet and
cannot be missed, 7th to Graham Eke (KTM) who really is a determined rider and
wants to post a finish and of course post a faster lap time than his son Coby
(sorry Coby Dad wins today), 8th to Teamsnapper rider Jason Saint (KTM) who
had some moments out there but made top 10, Grant Atkinson (KTM) 9th place who
was easily recognised by his blue n white top which is much appreciated by
Kaka and myself and must say you did make some good saves today, rounding up
the top 10 was LFB rider Matt Alexander (KTM) who has not ridden for over 12
mths and was bike rusty but did a lap time of top 5 and once Matt gets back
into the swing of things expect him back up the pointed end, Other Notables
Nick Littlecott (TM) who just missed out on a top ten by a very small margin,
12th Mark Horswell on new machinery (Husqvarna) whom never gives up no matter
what and long time supporter of the club, Wayne (No Holds Barred) Barnett just
loves off road bikes to such an extent it is rumoured his long suffering wife
Shirley has filed for divorce under the pretence he has been sharing a bed
with 2T engine from the 1980's, how distressing for Shirley, however
considering such personal times Wayne finished lucky 13th on his Teamsnapper
Honda and as with Wayne he makes his day a family affair and brings a lot of
support (yes inc the 2T engine) which is so welcomed by the club which leads
me nicely into Simon Stevens (KTM) who is the clubs secretary and finished
16th today with 7 laps completed, Pete Reynolds (Husaberg) 17th and frankly
had a bad day at the office, my good friend and Teamsnapper rider Stewart
Churchyard (Yamaha) completed 6 laps, Terry Carter (Gas Gas) 6 laps completed,
Teamsnapper rider and circus performer Darren Giggs (KTM) completed 4 laps
which is probably a record for him (only kidding Giggsy), also on 4 laps was
KTM mounted Rob Fry, Jeremy(FENT) Eastlake (KTM)was running high up the order
and looking at top 5 finish when as he passed me coming back into the paddock
area from the woods his bike made the most strangest of whirring type noises
which ended his day.
Sportsman Class
Teamsnapper rider Chris Welch(Husaberg) has well and truly thrown down the
gauntlet for all others in this class and for them to step up to the plate as
quoted "The Trophy has my name on it already" and that was said
before the start, Chris only been riding for a very short time and is probably
the wrong side of 40 yet has become so engulfed in this sport of which he
truly loves and enjoys and this time last year he was running right at the
back if not last in the sportsman class yet his eagerness to improve and ride
week in and week out (Chris has ridden more events last 16 months than any
other rider i know) and it has only been in the last 3 months where something
clicked and now results are coming and confidence is high and today was
another high and his goal is simple "Win Sportsman Class 2012 PMCRC"
a great win today and 9 laps completed is the right way to start, however
there is a rider in this class who has talent but messes about and does not
take seriously and when he does ride well he is top Clubman B rider at least
..... Yes Dan Jarratt (Teamsnapper Yamaha) get your finger out, get fitter as
your capable of winning races week in and week out and Chris has thrown down
the gauntlet so i challenge you to test yourself and 3rd place today with only
8 laps is not good enough (Bollocking over with), 2nd place and much improved
is Stuart Maunder (Teamsnapper KTM) who posted the fastest lap in class of
which i salute you and before today i was not sure if you would get podiums
this year but thank you for not only proving me wrong but also your now a
contender, 4th with 7 laps completed the man in black and white but KTM
mounted Gary White, 5th Honda mounted Dean Llewhellyn also 7 laps, 6th Stephen
Edy (KTM) 7 laps, 7th Paul Townley (KTM) 7 laps, 8th the man in black Coby Eke
(Yamaha) 6 laps, Andrew White and Michael Warner on their very well presented
Husqvarna 6 laps a piece and both inside the top 10, other notables, the
unmistakable KTM rider Jim Ayling 13th place, Steve Martin (Husqvarna) in the
very bright red and white race kit 14th, Teamsnapper rider Mark Stanley (BMW)
can ride better but does not relish these conditions 15th, Husaberg mounted
and nice guy Simon Turnbull (Husaberg) 5 laps but in these conditions if you
drop the big bergs they are top heavy and hard work, Jeremy Leamy (KTM) 19th
place, local rider Thomas Woodcock (Suzuki) looks a far better rider than his
lap times dictate completed 4 laps, Lloyd Gore (Teamsnapper Honda) sadly took
an early shower with only 2 laps, Chris Furmage (Gas Gas) completed 2 laps.
Gary Goble (Husaberg) crashed early on and damaged shoulder but otherwise
fine and Jack Hooper who i believe had a mechanical woe just after the start
and did not continue which brings me to the end of the race report and as
always a big well done to PMCRC for such a well organised event and despite
conditions was a successful event and i so hope the conditions have not ruined
all the hard work that went into the track in the off season.
