W-Mounter Enduro Team

Wayne Mounter Motorcycles - KTM Main Dealer - Pontypridd, South Wales

With a couple of days to go to the Hafren, the W-Mounter Enduro Team are looking forward to the new BEC season. The South Wales based team (left to right) consists of Mike Rees, Gerald Poole, Greg Evans, Jon Hinam, Wayne Mounter & Keith Horsnell.

Mike Rees has enough energy & enthusiasm to be sponsored by Duracell despite recently becoming a father for the first time. In 2003 Mike snapped the ligaments in his shoulder in the clubman class on the 1st day of the Welsh but he carried on & finished 2nd overall. He then went on to win his class at a Fast Eddy on the Sunday before seeking treatment. The arm required surgery & a long period of recovery but in 2006 Mike was fit enough to win the 4T Expert class at the first round of the Putoline Cross Country Championship. Mike is a cheerful but resolute competitor & he will be competing in the E1 Expert class.

Gerald Poole was the 2002 Welsh 4T champion & in 2006 he was runner up in the Over 40 at the Brechfa. He has had a couple of years away from the British Enduro Championship & concentrated on Hare & Hounds. Last Month he won the Mercia Dirt Riders Veterans class at Abergavenny but the lure of the BEC has drawn him back. He was will be competing in the Veteran class.

Greg Evans has enjoyed spectacular success this month with a 3rd overall in the Welsh 2 Day & a runner upís trophy in the E1 junior class at the Hungarian round of the European Championship. In recognition of his success the 21 year old has been selected to compete in Chile this year for the Optoma ACU British ISDE trophy team. He will be a contender in the Championship class.

Jon Hinam has bitter sweet memories of Llanidloes as he broke his wrist on the 1st day of the Hafren European round in 2005 but he has returned to fitness with a runner up award at this year's Snowrun & 4 out of 4 podium finishes in this season's Fast Eddy series. He will also be competing in the Expert class.

As well as promoting his team, Wayne Mounter is an experienced rider in his own right. He has finished 2nd & 3rd BEC Veteran Championship as well as winning the WTRA O40 Championship in 2002. This year he has expanded his KTM dealership in Pontypridd by doubling the floor area & adding a second storey.

Keith Horsnell coaches the team. He won the 1993 Expert 125 Championship, took 10 years off & returned to win the 2003 Expert 250 Championship & 2004 Expert 4T Championship. He is the current Welsh 4T champion.
