THE WEC 2009 IS BEING ACTIVELY PREPARED (Translation)

It is close to Munich, the snow-covered capital of Bavaria, that met on December the 13th the organizers of 2009 WEC, in order to prepare as well as possible a season that already look promising. Under the guidance of AMEDEO MICHELOTTI and HEINRICH SCHMIDT, respectively President and Vice President of the C.E.R (Commission Enduro Rallye) of the FIM, and with the support of Christian MERCIER, coordinator FIM ENDURO, the changes of rules and the philosophy for 2009 WEC were evoked. Amedeo MICHELOTTI was very clear with the 8 organizers present: " Our Grand Prix have to be on a very high level to continue in the way traced for several seasons. The circuits must be technical, physical and selective to deserve the label of World Championship. " Giovanni SALA, FIM Course Inspector, insisted him on the layouts of the special tests, which must be wide to multiply possibilities of trajectories and lines. On his side, Alexandre LAOPODIS presented the time-keeping system that will be used on each event with the improvements planned for 2009.

THE SUPER TEST, ALREADY A SUCCESS

Alain BLANCHARD for ABC COMMUNICATION made a review of the services brought to the clubs to reinforce the promotion of the events by presenting the media plan, with the support of Alexandre VIGNEAU (ABC Press Officer and journalist for MOTORS TV). Alain BLANCHARD also insisted with the organizers on the advantages which the prologues can bring to the events: "This Super Test must be above all a spectacle and a show which will promote the race as well as possible, by making the enduro even more popular and attractive." And the various organizers understood the benefits brought by the SUPER TEST, which should be present on 7 of the 8 GP of 2009 season. The Portuguese organizers for example envisage a prologue on a short and spectacular track, where the world best riders will fight in duel on 2 parallel tracks, as what is done on the World Rally Championship. On his side, Sardinia (Grand Prix of Italy) will organize the Super Test in Baseball Stadium equipped with a 2000 places stand. Very promising! Antonio JORGE (Penafiel - Portugal), Jordi MAS (Igualada - Spain), Andrea BINETTI (MC Iglesias - Italy), Timo SIREN (Riihimaki - Finland), Viliam VETESKA (Puchov - Slovakia), Sergio DIAZ (Valle de Bravo - Mexico), Alexandre LAOPODIS (Serres - Greece) and Jeff (Saint Flour - France) brilliantly presented their events and underlined all the important contributions from which they profit from the local authorities. 

TOWARDS A WOMEN ENDURO WORLD CUP 

25 people, whose the sports deputy mayor of the town of Igualada, took part in this seminar organized under excellent conditions in the Hotel Kastanienhof of Erding, close to Munich. And it is on a feminine note that this meeting finished. On the initiative of Jean-Guillaume MEILLER and Alain BLANCHARD was announced the probable creation in 2009 of a WOMEN ENDURO WORLD CUP, within the framework of 2009 MAXXIS FIM WEC!
