LANGDALE 07 ENDURO - ROUND 2 HUSQVARNA NEEC ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP

Sunday the 13th of May saw the 2nd round of the HUSQVARNA NEEC, head to Langdale near Scarborough, where the Ryedale Motorcycle Club ran their first event of the year. The weather was kind and the rain stayed off until the end of the race making a good but as always tough event. The course was around 20 miles in length of true cross country nature with one tight but flowing special test. The championship class rode 4 laps as did the experts, clubman and over 40s 3 laps and the sportsman 2 laps.

At 10 30 the small championship class set off to tackle the day, at the end of the first timed test it was MPS Racing's Si Wakely who had the advantage, from his team mate Gav Houson and Justin Wilson in 3rd. The second lap was the same with Wakely really learning fast the NEEC style tight cross country tests, showing exceptional speed and skill aboard his Husqvarna. The ever improving Gav Houson also Husqvarna was following Wakely-s lines and improving every test, and Justin Wilson, dirtbike trax KTM was riding smooth and consistently just couldn't seem to separate the MPS Racing teamsters. However on the last lap things changed at the top with Wakely crashing heavily in the tight trees and loosing the advantage he had on the other riders, he did well to get up so quick after a big off, This meant that the young Gav Houson stole the win over his team mate and Justin Wilson stayed in a solid third. David Myers finished 4th and Keith Readman 5th.

The expert class was won by Danny Field tgor KTM (left) who had three consistent test times, showing he is finding his speed again after his wrist injury narrowly beating the stylish Adam Smith aboard his big Husaberg. Third place went to MPS Racing's rookie rider Ed Macintosh aboard a Husqvarna, showing he is fast learning enduro with his speed improving all the time. There were also some good times set by the over 40s riders, who were running on quick times, and the winner of the battle was Neil Boyd riding a Honda 250 fourstroke for the first time from Douglas Paige KTM in 2nd and David King 3rd. David Wilson came in first of the fast test times in the clubman class with Richard Dakin close behind. Youngster Tim Pattinson came in 3rd with very consistent test times. The sportsmen who I'm sure found it a hard day, as Langdale is known as a tough forest to ride all did well to keep going with the winner being Michael Mundy aboard his Yamaha from Mathew Couking KTM and Simon Cunliffe 3rd. Thanks to all the competitors and hope to see you at our next event, and a big thank you to all the club members, and helpers.
