North Of England Hare Scramble Championship Round 2 With a new course prepared by the Dirtbike-Traxs crew ready for round 2 of the National Putoline Hare Scramble Championship. Nobody would believe that on Thursday parts of the course were dusty, what a change the monsoon like conditions made. Friday and Saturday right through too the early hours of Sunday morning it just kept raining turning the track into muddy gloop. This was going to test the 300 riders taking part in the North's leading Hare Scramble Championship. The racing got underway at 9 am with the youths riding on a different course to the adults. Taking an early lead in the 12 to 15 age group was Aran Dent but he took a wrong turn costing him minutes, this allowed Andrew Noakley to take up the lead with Liam Ward in second and Harry Hillas in third. Andrew put the pressure on extending his lead finishing one lap clear on 11 laps, Liam Ward 10 laps 2nd and Harry Hillas also 10 laps 3rd. The 8 to 11 years group found the going very hard with their small wheels. Scott Altass and Davey Todd got out in front with Scott building a two minute lead over Davey. This is how it remained, finishing one lap clear of the rest of the field. Third place went to Aryton Aldridge. Well done to all the young riders, they all deserved their Tong survivor awards! 11 30 saw the start of the main event, with the experts off first. Anthony Ayrton getting a real flyer from Team Sandiford rider Justin Wilson, Anthony picked up the ras sport holeshot prize. Justin moved into the lead on the first lap closely followed by team ras sport rider Gavin Houson. Gavin inspired by the thought of some prize money put the hammer down. Justin made a mistake on lap 2 letting Gavin through on board his TM 125. Gavin increased his lead until lap 5 when Justin started to catch him, but Gavin hung on to win by 2 mins 43 secs. Third place went to Anthony Ayrton, 4th place went to veteran rider Mark Stella Houson and Dirtbike-Traxs rider Jason Eyre took 5th spot. All the top experts completed 8 laps. The clubman race was won by Simon Hindle from Grant Marsden, in third place from Cumbria was Ryan Fallows, 4th place was Ben Rennison and 5th place went to Tim Pattinson. A good result for Tim having just moved up from sportsman. The top five clubmen all completed 7 laps.
Well done to all riders who struggled around. It was a really hard day, the monsoon weather was against us, but hopefully by the time we get to Gisburn at the end of April we might have some sun. Thanks to everyone that helped. See you all at Gisburn. Dirtbike-Trax.
