Round 6 of the Putoline North of England Hare Scramble Championship With 400 riders booked in the Dirtbike-traxs crew headed to Bolton by Bowland Lancashire for round 6 of the Putoline North of England Hare Scramble Championship, set in the outstanding Ribble Valley, the course would provide challenging and exciting racing for all the classes. The weekend sport kicked off on Saturday morning with a training school run by enduro ace Wayne Braybrook, and aided by local star Justin Wilson (above), using parts of Sunday's course to demonstrate various off road skills to the riders, the feed back from the training session was excellent. 2.30pm saw dirtbike-traxs liason with Bolton MCC continue, with the Bolton club staging a saturday afternoon trial using the stream sections and steep valley bottom. at 7 pm the landowner ann smalley provided a full disco to round off the day. Sunday - which was bathed in glorious sunshine - saw the racing start at 8.30 am with the youth riders off in a 75 min hare scramble, leading the field in the 11 to 15 years was Andrew Noakley on his new KTM from Harry Hillas and Michael Briggs, some of the young riders found the first stream crossing a bit tricky early on, but there was plenty of marshalls to give a hand, meanwhile Noakley, Hillas, and Briggs where battling it out up front , with Noakley eventually finishing 1st and Hillas 2nd , both on 12 laps , michael briggs on 11 laps in third,4place went to josh bendall with sam alexander 5th,meanwhile in the 8 to 11 year group davey todd and scott altass swaped places for the lead during the early stages of the race before davey todd pulled clear, 1st davey todd 2nd scott altass 3rd ayrton aldridge 4th luke flack 5th William Hillas, well done to molly howe and megan wilson both completed 6 laps of the tricky course. 10.15 am saw the sportsman race get underway, with the race duration cut to 2 hours 15 min due to the extreme heat. The 140 sportsman riders started to tackle the interesting off cambers and climbs the Bowland track had to throw at them, number 62 Ross Brady started to inch away from regular riders Anthony Cooper and Mattthew Scarcliff. Craig Reynolds was keeping in touch on his 125 Kawasaki ,all the leading sportsmen completed 14 laps, with only 3mins and 9 seconds separating the top 5. 1st Ross Brady 2nd Anthony Cooper 3rd Matthew Scarcliff 4th Craig Reynolds, 5th Peter Carr. With a short break for lunch, to allow most of the hard working marshalls to get a rest , chief marshall Jason Erye went down to the stream to route in a 60 metre section of rocky stream bed , this was going to provide a challenging test to the riders. At 1.15 pm the 150 strong expert clubman o40 race got underway, with a good expert line up, Sandiford team rider Justin "the daddy" Wilson shot straight into the lead, first into the stream bed the daddy made it look easy , the rest of the experts arrived on mass struggling through to the bank were they could get there breath back, Lincoln Brewster on board his KB Racing gas gas moved into second place followed by Dirtbike-traxs rider Rich Copsey and ras sport rider Gavin Houson in 4th place, trying as hard as they could they could'nt stop the daddy building up an unassailable lead and eventual victory, 1st Justin Wilson 2nd Lincoln Brewster 3rd Rich Copsey 4th Gavin Houson 5th Jason Turner.in the clubman class the racing was close with james clift taking the win from 2nd shane keyworth ,3rdsimon hindle, 4th aaron dugdale 5th adam smith all completed 16 laps.the o40 clas was won by rob buttler by 15 seconds from mick kendal both completed 16 laps 3rd roy palmer 15 laps 4th Andy Wilson 5th John Boden both 14 laps. Unluckest rider of the day was clubman Andy Platt, who parked his bike and sat down next to it were it fell on top of him knocking him out, He is ok.
