Latest News straight from Fast Ed!

With the Putoline XC and GBXC Championships done and dusted for this season we are now concentrating on getting our winter events up and running.

We have decided to kick things off on Saturday 9th October with a Fast Eddy Motoduro. The event will be held at Bicton Farm near Shrewsbury and will make use of the popular enduro track and the newly built motocross circuit. There will be two one hour races for all classes including Youth, Sportsman, Novice, Junior MX, Vets B, Clubman, Senior MX, Vets A, Experts & Pro's. All races will be timed by transponders giving riders instant results after every race.

Now for the big news!

We have been able to confirm that the Isle of Man Fun event has been set for Friday 29th and Saturday 30th October. The venue for the two day event will be the popular Jurby circuit (David Knight's practice circuit) out to the north of the island. Friday will consist of training for youth and adult riders and Saturday will be race day with the Youths in the morning and the Adults in the afternoon. The races will be in the normal Putoline XC format with all the usual classes catered for.

I am also happy to announce that YES Knighter will be there for both days helping out and showing us all how to ride the sand. Thecoaches for the training will be myself, little brother Lee, Tom Sagar and the great David Knight.

Fast Eddy Fun Event on Saturday 19th September 2009

Finally a dry and warm day brought a few extra riders out of the wood work for a little bit of Saturday Fun at the little circuit at Bicton near Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

The event started in bright sunshine with nearly 40 youth riders, some of which were first timers, lined up on the start. First away were the big boys on their 125's and 250f's with Jon Hill (left) leading the way round for the whole of lap one closely followed by Andrew Bull and Jordan Lines on their new bikes. Top 65 rider one lap one was 55 Ross Davies and top big wheel 85 was 608 Ryan Phillips.

By laps two Bull had got out in front and began to pull away from the rest of the pack showing the class of rider we all know that he is. Hill and Lines tried to keep up with him but soon found themselves mixed in among the pack. Bull continued at a nice steady pace continuing to pick off the riders as he went along but Hill did not let him get too far away and in fact at the finish they had only 30 seconds between them. Jordan dropped his third position in the race and in class to Harland White, no 891, after a series of little mistakes around the course. At the end these were the only three to have completed 22 laps.

Lead contender in the small wheel 85's was Harry Aughterlony who worked has way mid pack for most of the race but as he passed the chequered flag he had clocked up an impressive 21 laps and finished in fourth place overall.

The big wheel 85 honours went to Katie Walker (right) who finished fifth overall in the race as well and clocked up an impressive 20 laps, the same as Jordan Lines.

The 65cc class went to a newcomer to Fast Eddy races, Antoine Criq. This little powerhouse looks like a rider to keep an eye on in the future as he was quite impressive as he made his way around the circuit.

Upholding the Edmondson name at the event, as his big brother was off riding at a team event at Bromyard, was Harry (Pot Man) Edmondson, number 9. Harry managed a very creditable 17 laps and finished fifth in his class and fifteenth overall.

With such a good turnout for our youth riders we hope that having the final round on a Saturday will also bring them out for our end of year bash. Well done to all who rode, especially those who have just started and like determined rider Amelia Arnold (left) who rode most of the race without a clutch because the housing came off now have the bug to come back again and again.

Fast Eddy Fun Event - Adults

The sun dropped for the afternoon adult race and the complete lack of wind meant that the dusty conditions were not too bad for the riders to be able to have reasonable vision as they tackled the course.

As expected, Expert rider Mark Roberts lead the race from start to finish clearly outclassing the competition. At the end of lap one the order was Roberts, George Wolencraft 23 and Richard Millar 24 the three experts and these were closely followed clubmen Mark Saunders and Alan Birtwistle and vet Andy Wade 80. This is basically the order they followed for the next few laps until Roberts started to pull away making his way through the pack of slower riders.
Pits stops started to make a difference to the order at around 50 minutes but Roberts, on a one stopper, continued to pull away gaining a good lead over his fellow competitors leaving the other two expert riders to slowly drop down the order.

Man of the moment during the middle section of the race was 122 Dean Williams who worked his way through the pack from the middle of the pack to second overall having just crossed the line before the finish flag went out allowing him to get an extra lap on the third place man Alan Birtwistle.

Top vets rider on the day turned out to be Nick Hargreaves, number 17, who amassed a total of 24 laps crossing the line after fellow vet Andy Wade who had only completed 23 laps. Although the class was not as well represented as usual top Sportsman on the day went to 101 Ian O'Leary with 23 laps. Ian finished 17th overall in the race itself.
Top novice honours on the day went to Richard Rudge, number 1, on 23 laps closely followed by Ben Murphy, number 81, also on 23 laps. The time difference between the two of them at the finish was only four bikes and a mere 18 seconds.

Despite the small entry the event went well with all riders seeming to enjoy the dry conditions for a change. Hopefully we will see many of them at the last round of the championship on Saturday 24thOctober and Sunday 25th October.
Well done to all who entered and regards from Fast Eddy and the crew.
