True Grit off Road got the 2010 National Putoline Hare Scramble Championship at Driffield off to a flying start - 13/14th February

Report by Peter Botchett & Martyn Field  Photo Andy Greenwood

The TGOR team had been hard at work over the previous few weeks to give the riders another well organised event with a track layout that would suit all standards of riders. The weather was always going to be a huge factor over the weekend with the forecast being very unsettled.

It was a cold, early start on the Saturday for the 10 fortunate riders who managed to secure a place on the training session run by former MX GP rider Ryan Voase. The feedback on the training session was a resounding success, with everyone who attended finding Ryan's expertise and knowledge a huge benefit.

Clerk of the Course Martyn Field got the afternoon race festivities underway with the kids and ladies classes. Just as the clouds came over and delivered the first of many rain showers, Luke Flack got the hole shot and led the pack way into the distance with Spike pushing him hard. Luke maintained his lead all the way to the flag with Michael Gilby finishing 2nd and Tim Gardham coming in 3rd place. With the rain coming in fits and starts throughout the afternoon the younger class of Juniors had to work extremely hard to battle the slippery conditions. Ben Turner put in a fantastic performance to come in 1st place, completing 5 laps of the course and 6 minutes ahead of 2nd place rider Brandon Sharples with 4 laps and Archie Flack in 3rd also completing 4 laps. In the Ladies class Jade Gordon romped home completing an astounding 5 laps and a massive 16 minutes ahead of 2nd place rider Gina Bewlay on 4 laps and 37 minutes ahead of 3rd place rider Emily Schneider who completed 3 laps.

Next up it was the turn of the Quads to brave the now very wet and slippery riding conditions, especially in and around the wooded sections. With a health turnout from the Quad fraternity the sound of the starting horn at 15:00 was drowned out by the thunder of the expert class, followed by the Clubman and Sportsman classes. The conditions proved to be extremely difficult for man and machine in all 3 classes, with a significant number of DNF's throughout the 1½ hour race with the weather alternating between heavy downpours and brilliant sunshine. All top 3 riders in the Expert class completed a very respectable 7 laps, however it was David Baldwin who came out on top over 2½ minutes ahead of Andrew Vernon in 2nd and Peter Heap only 24 seconds behind Andrew in 3rd,. All completed a remarkable 7 laps. Steven Johnson came in 4 minutes ahead of Tim Cark to claim 1st place in the Clubman class, with Mark Scott in 3rd, all on 6 laps. In the Sportsman class it was John Kerwin who led throughout and finished some 15 minutes, almost a full lap, (time for a move up in class one thinks!) ahead of 2nd place Matthew Ambler, with Paul Robinson close behind in 3rd place.

Alterations to the track on Saturday night were made ready for Sundays Adult solo race to include the famous quarry section. That night the TGOR team hoping for some brighter, drier weather.

Sunday morning and bright skies, had the crossing of fingers paid off it seemed so, but as the riders lined up the heavens decided to open up and continued with the same pattern of the previous day. The egar 300+ riders were not going to let a little rain spoil their fun including Graham Jarvis, looking fresh and raring to go after his monumental result at Hells Gate in Italy, Army BEC championship rider Kev Murray, mad for a bash at the National Putoline Championship between his operational commitments overseas. The Experts were set off first with Harry Hillas battling it out with Damian Butler for the hole-shot, it was Harry that came out of the first corner slightly ahead and increased his lead, clocking in a good 30 sec ahead of Josh Bendell, who fought hard for the second place spot after the first lap. Harry Hillas was untouchable over the 3 hour race and maintained the 1st place spot right to the end. The battle for the 2nd and 3rd places was a different story with the Josh Bendell, Kev Murray, Graham Jarvis and Tom Healy all battling each other and the treacherous conditions. Bike trouble with an engine misfire saw Graham retire after 3 laps, leaving the other three to try and eat into Harry Hillas's lead. Josh Bendell was the next to retire due to injury after clipping a tree in one of the tricky wood sections. Tom Healy maintained the second spot for most of the race until a bad crash allowed the experienced Kev Murray in to claim 2nd place some 5 minutes behind Harry Hillas, Tom Healy managed to hang on to 3rd place, a mere 1½ seconds ahead of Craig Reynolds who early in the race recovered from a pretty spectacular off coming out of one of the many wood sections. All three completed 9 laps of this demanding course. The wood sections would prove to be the down fall for a many riders on Sunday, with the continuous rain making the tracks through them deeply rutted and extremely slippery.

James Reeves led the Clubman E1 class into the first corner, but it was Jack Colley, back for his first race after breaking his collar bone mid way through last season, who was first through the gate after the first lap. Jack's lead didn't last long as Ashley Crossley fought hard to take the 1st place with 8 laps and 5 minutes ahead of Jams Reeve in 2nd and Ian Harrison in third. It was Andrew Hornshaw who led the Clubman Open class into the first corner and it was a very tight contest for the top three spots right to the end, with only 2 minutes separating them. Andrew Hornshaw triumph into 1st place with 8 laps, 1 minute ahead of Lee Smith in second and Steven Watson another minute behind also on 8 laps.

The Over 40s class showed many of the younger riders how to tackle these testing conditions being the only class to have all their riders finish the gruelling 3 hours. Phil Smithson claiming 1st position with 8 laps local lad Rod Heald a true veteran of Driffield cruising in 1 minute later also on 8 laps. Chris Bursell claimed 3rd spot with 7 laps.

In the Sportsman E1 Class Mike Slater put in an impressive 7 laps to claim 1st some 7 minutes ahead of 2nd place rider Jack Midgley and closely followed by Chris Perry in 3rd with 7 laps. Sportsman Open had Lee Stansfield dominating the class in 1st place with a massive 12 minutes ahead of William Charnook in 2nd and George Stanley in 3rd. All three achieved a respectable 7 laps.
Coby Wright dominated the Senior A class with 6 laps, 2 laps more than the 2nd place rider Chris Wells and 3rd place Ben Clark who also managed 4 laps.

Finally Darren Skillin, still buzzing from his Dirtbike Traxs Winter series overall win, in 1st place in the Novice class with Justin Sizer hot on his heels in 2nd, both managing 7 laps. Maybe a move up to Sportsman for these two is now on the cards ! Jason McGarry fought hard for his 3rd place and came off looking fresh and chuffed to bits with his 6 laps.

Once again a fantastic weekends racing was had by all, brave determined riding in all the classes both young and old in what was by far the hardest conditions seen at Driffield for many a year, a big thank you from the True Grit Off Road team to the local TRF group who marshalled doing a great job also would like to thank all those that took part and hope to see you all at the next round of the championship at Butts Quarry over the weekend of 13/14 March. If you can't wait till then booking in for the Fun race at Ellington Banks, Ripon on the 28th Feb.

BIFFSTAR SHINES IN DRIFF WIN
FINAL ROUND OF THE NATIONAL PUTOLINE HARE SCRAMBLE CHAMPIONSHIP
3/4th Oct Driffield TGOR

The final round of the National Putoline Hare Scramble Championship took place last week end at Driffield, East Yorkshire.  The organising club - TGOR - had laid on a flowing course based on the woods and plantations with connecting chalk roads that made up a twenty minute plus loop for the Sunday race while Saturdays youth and quad race used a shorter course of about 12 minutes.
A 1 pm start was the order of the day for the youth and ladies with a good line up of competitors. Starter Martyn Field gave the go signal and the first wave of youth riders - the senior B - headed off around the mx section and then disappeared into the first of the plantations.  After 10 minutes or so it was Scot Altass who appeared first - coming out of the final plantation - with a good lead over his main rival for the championship Luke Flack. Flack suffered a poor start and had to work his way through the field. The outcome of today's race would decide the championship. Flack was pushing as hard as he could but he was finding it hard to close down Altass, At the end of the 90 minutes it was Scot Altass taking the win and the championship from Flack with Harrison Bell in 3rd. There was never much between Scot Altass or Luke all season and now they will move up into senior A where a new challenge will await them. In the juniors Billy Steinman had one of his best rides in the series to take the win from Dexter Douglas 2nd and Doltan Shannon 3rd, The well supported ladies class was won by Katie walker from Emma Ball with Gina Bewlay 3rd. The ladies class has grown to around 10 riders and the level of competition is great .

Sunday dawned with clear blue skies and warm sunshine as the hoards of riders started to arrive for the 10, 30 am start, with a start grid approaching 300 riders this event and the national putoline hare scramble championship was once again attracting the masses, the event was to be run in 2 x 90 minute sessions with both sessions scoring championship points this was to make up for a round lost during the wet summer. On the front row ready for the off were the 040 and experts and bang on 10.30 starter martyn field set the race in motion. 040 rider Ian Shannon took the RAS sport hole shot award and lead the first group around the mx section, after the other groups were started all eyes were focused on the final set of woods to see who would emerge first and the first rider insight was Aaron Holmes on a Craig KTM with harry hillas hot on his heels, the biffstar was in third on the team sandiford husquvarna. As this leg of race progressed hillas took the lead with biffstar moving in to second, the promising young midlander Joe deakin had pushed in to 3rd place on the husky sport 125 and was fighting hard to close biffstar down but he couldn't catch him and the first leg ended with harry hillas taking the win from biffstar and deakin the riders now had an hour break before the restart, the break was much welcomed as the riders seemed to have been pushing harder than in a 2.5 hour duration race possibly knowing they had a hours recovery time . after a quick refuel and a drink the riders took up positions on the start grid and for the final time in this series starter martyn field gave the 10 second warning but before he could finish the countdown a unknown rider started his bike and the final race of the series was under way as the riders emerged out of the dust on the mx section and sped towards the first of the plantations it was the biffstar on board the sandiford husquvarna x lite that was in the lead , as the spectator gathered around race control for the riders to complete the end of the first lap it was the biffstar who came into view first as he clocked through race control he had a commanding lead of 45 seconds over second place man harry hillas , Joe deakin needed to reel the biffstar if he was going to win the championship and the £1000 first prize, but this time it was a step too far , as biff went on to win the race and the championship , second in the experts was Oliver hart with 3rd place going to josh bendel.

In the clubman E1 class niki walker took a win in the first race and a 5th in the second race Stuart Gordon will be pleased with 2 second places, super smooth David slaked made the job look easy in the 040 class with 2 wins, Simon bastow picked up a second and a 4th place in this very competitive class, in the sportsman E1 class James reeve was the best rider with a 1st and a 2nd , levi Johnson won the 1 leg in the clubman open , Elliot Shaw took the first leg win in the sportsman open while martin Dawson jnr took a win and a 3rd .

TGOR Butts team & mini iron man event

The Smith's team clean up butts

The TGOR team returned to the Butts quarry motocross circuit to stage their annual team and mini iron man 4 hour hare scramble event. The course was a combination of the famous old mx track, the surrounding woodland and the quarry. The TGOR team were blessed with a good break in the relentless summer rain which has seen so many events cancelled. Martyn Field TGOR's event director employed a le mans start with the riders running to there machines & at 10 am sharp the start signal was given and the solo riders sprinted, limped and trudge the 50 metres to their machines followed a minute latter by the team riders. Doom Garnham on his wacker sponsored ktm 250f led the solo riders around the course for much of the first lap. In the team race hard charging Adam smith sandiford Honda from the smith team partnering the biffster was on the gas in the first shift, not far behind was the young guns pairing of Joe Deakin and Josh Bendel. They were on top form, chasing hard their team plan involved changing every 5 laps about 35 minute shifts. That way they were going flat out but losing 10 seconds in the change over every 5 laps. It worked well as they were never far behind hot favourites - the Smiths. Biffster on his husqvarna and Adam on his Honda [ the smiths ] continued to edge away from the chasing teams eventually winning by a clear lap completing 30 laps, second place went to the young guns teams of Bendel and Deakin on 29 laps in third place Luke Meredith and Chay Granby.

Chris Berril and Ian Shannon won the clubman team award while hot favourites in the sportsman class Phillip robobog Robinson and Steve Irvine in team poo were beaten by girl power as Jane Daniels teamed up with Reece Morewood to win by 3 minutes. Gina bewlay and Becca Dawson won the novice team award. Phil corner won the expert solo completing 26 laps most of them with out a front brake, but Mick Hammond won the solo clubman and put in the best performance of the solo riders overall. John Kerwin husqvarna won the solo sportsman class from mark bell The weather remained fine right up to the last 30 minutes of the event, making the last few laps greasy on top. With riders sprawling around on the floor The riders certainly enjoyed the team spirit and the solo determination that this annual event inspires TGOR would like to thank every one that helped and rode. We will see you all at Driffield in October for the final round of the National Putoline hare scramble championship. Where something special is in store .

Bolts and biFFSTAR IN A DRIFF 1,2

The final round of the UK's most popular off road motor cycle series the 07 Putoline Hare Scramble championship took place at the mod training area Driffield East Yorks. The first round back in February started with 400 riders and this the last round finished with an incredible 500 riders taking in part in the weekends races. The final round was organised by TGOR who set out a course comprising of flowing woodland tracks link by fast open breaks and a quarry with jumps. Saturday was the youth riders turn to test the Driffied circuit out. Junior and senior B riders numbering 70 strong lined up for the 2 pm start on a shorter course than the adults. The young riders blasted off around the track. After 90 mins of hard riding it was Adam Taylor who took the win in the senior B with Joe Deakin in 2nd and Davey Todd 3rd. Luke Flack once again won the juniors, Dan Bewlay second and Josh Hornshaw 3rd. The track was a real treat for the young riders - many of which were newcomers to the sport.

As Sunday dawned the weather was overcast with fine rain in the air. At 9 am the truly massive Sportsman, Novice, and Senior A youth entry lined up. Riders in the sports E1and open class still had a lot to fight for. As the start signal was given Liam Ward riding a Husqvarna 125 took the hole shot and led the masses into the woods. Liam held the lead for the first hour but was hit in the face by a rock which caused him to drop back. Tez Watson took up the lead and was getting faster., and went on to take the win from Karl Waltho who was only 41 seconds adrift , third place went to Bez Berill all riders completed 9 laps , the sports open class was won by Stuart Gordon in second place Nick Rowbotham and third Kevin Whitehead all on 9 laps.

In the senior A youth, Michael Briggs was once again in a class of his own setting the fastest lap in the morning race he completed 8 laps in 2 hours and 11 mins and if he had continued on his blistering pace for the sportsmans race duration would have completed 10 laps ,in second place was Josh Taylor with Josh Bendall taking third . As the dedicated TGOR team checked and repaired the track during the break the Experts Clubman and 040 were lining there bikes up ready for the off, WEC rider Euan Mc Connel elatraction TM 3oo was on the front row ready to challenge the regular front running experts , at 12 .30 the start signal was given and the 3 hour race was under way , as the experts came around the first bend Mc ConnelL on his mighty TM took the RASsport hole shot prize ,as McConnell pulled away from the pack Gav Houson MPS racing Husqvarna was just keeping in touch , with the Biffstar and Paul Bolton both team Sandiford Honda running in third and forth , at the half way stage disaster struck young Houson the bike high sided down a long fast straight and Gav crashed heavily dislocating his shoulder, Mc Connell was cruising out in front but he miscalculated his refuelling and was left stranded out on the course , the Biffstar was now out in front on his sandiford CRF250 X, but team mate Bolton was reeling him in , the sandiford teamsters were to ride the last 2 laps together, entertaining the crowds in the quarry section styling it over the many jumps , crossing the line together Bolts already crowned champion looked to the Biffstar to take the win, the Biffstar shook his head and Bolts tagged his transponder first to take the win from the Biffstar , a good solid ride from Vince Harker earned the Bedale man 3rd place .

In the 040 class Jack Twentyman made a good effort to take the win but Mick Kendal in second place was crowned 040 champion , clubman E1 was battled out by close rivals with Rob Taylor 1st with the ever improving Harry Hillas 2nd and Damien Butler 3rd victory in the clubman open class went to James Clift , as the hordes of riders drifted away with smiles on there faces it was clear that TGOR had provided the riders with another brilliant event , the championship has grown in quality and in the record numbers of riders , but DBT and TGOR are determined to do even better next year with new venues and an even bigger prize fund. A big thanks to Putoline oils for the generous prize fund , The full putoline hare scramble championship tables will be out shortly and all the prize winners are to collect there awards at the presentation night on the 8th of December, at the Harrogate Town Football Club.

Team Sandiford win the Butts 4 hour hare scramble
TGOR Butts Quarry 22nd July - Results

The TGOR team once again made there annual pilgrimage to Ashover in Derbyshire for there mini iron man and team event. They worked through Thursday Friday and Saturday preparing the butts track in what can only be described as tropical monsoon conditions. At one point the river that flows through the quarry was in danger of breaking its banks and flooding the car park and camping areas as it had done 3 weeks earlier. Fortunately the water subsided over Friday night and Saturday. As Sunday dawn the sun shone surprisingly & started to dry the track leaving it in excellent condition.

Running a one race formula over 4 hours TGOR had attracted a bumper 260 riders to the event, with most riders in a two man team and only the brave in the mini iron man event. At 11am the start signal was given by TGOR's supremo Martyn Field. As the Expert team and Ironmen roared off around the butts circuit for the first time, Gavin Houson riding his mps husky in the mini ironman took an early lead and was first to the log and rock section. Gav then spectacularly cleared it in one mighty leap (above). Chasing Houson was Paul Bolton riding for the Sandiford Honda team paired with martin sandiford. these two were to dominate the team event, riding in one hour shifts each, they completed 33 laps and won the expert team event from the second sandiford Honda team of Jason Crosland and Ben Newbould completing 31 laps. Gavin Houson took the overall expert mini Ironman win with 32 laps. Biff Smith in second place on 30 laps was an unusual sight, gone was his trusty yellow and blue husaberg replaced with a team sandiford Honda crf250x we wonder if this is a one off or is it bye bye berg!! gas gas mounted Luke Meredith came home in third place on 30 laps. It was great to see old campaigner mark Houson back on his bike after a serious collar bone injury riding in the o40 team event it won't be long before he is back on form. Jack twentyman won the over 40 iron man, while Harry Hillas took top honours in the clubman class, it was a good day for team Hillas as younger brother William paired with d butler took the overall sportsman team prize

Talking to TGOR's Martyn Field at the end he said at some points during the set up for the event I was worried that if the rain didn't ease we might have to call it off. The river had risen to the top off its banks and water was streaming through the car park. Only 3 weeks ago part off the car park was washed away! I must thank all the TGOR team who worked through the monsoon conditions and the riders who supported the event. As it was, Sunday turned out to be a nice day with the track in top condition and an excellent race.

Round 5 of the National Putoline hare scramble championship 26/27th may Driffied TGOR

The tgor team had spent the last month redesigning the course lay out, they opened up new woodland and brought back the old woods to the left of the start area linking it together with 4x4 tracks, with these changes in place the course was fast and flowing and ready to receive the 450 riders that would descend on the old airfield venue. Saturday saw the ever growing youth race take place with over 90 riders lined up, TGOR chief martyn field decided as this was the only race on the Saturday to extend the ride time of the young riders, the junior riders out for 90miniutes senior B riders 105 minutes and the seniorA riders 120miniutes, riding on a shortened course with the near perfect weather conditions. The senior A riders on there 125 machines set off first and during the early stages Michael briggs and josh taylor fought for the lead , before briggsey upped the pace and broke free, finishing a lap up on second placed josh taylor, with Jordan botched in third , in the senior B class Joe deakin grabbed the win from Richard peers-Davies, with Billy Robinson picking up third place after a poor start on his wacker sponsored crf 150, in the junior Luke Flack dominated the race to take the win from Michael Tatham second and third Billy Steinmam

As Sunday dawned the weather was looking gloomy with large parts of the country suffering heavy rain, but the driffield area just missed it, only receiving the odd short shower during the day which kept the dust at bay. the race day was divided into to two races, at 9 am the 200 strong sportsman/novice class lined up with a race duration of 2.5 hours, topping the sportsman's class was rob Wright on his Honda 250 .who took the overall victory from Stuart Gordon in second who just 1 second ahead of third placed ben Hamilton . In the novice class young Sam Alexander came home in first place on his tm 125 second spot going to Andrew dale and third Alex partington. At 12.30 hours the main race of the day got under way , with the field totalling 160 spread through the classes, as the go signal was given the experts roared away , around the first corner, out in front was mark Jackson the eurotek chief on his ktm 200, he took the RASsport holeshot award , but by the time the experts entered the first wood , Honda mounted Paul Bolton was in the lead, there was now a tense wait back at race control to see who would be first back , after 20 minutes Paul Bolton emerged from the old wood and entered the mx section with a small lead over Gavin Houson mps racing husky 125 . over the next few hours the lead would change many times with Houson Wilson and Bolton all leading at various stages, as the race drew into its final stages Wilson and Bolton were neck and neck having pulled away from Houson, as the leaders entered the mx section for the last time it was Paul Bolton's who claimed the victory with Justin Wilson on his race fx ktm in second and Gav Houson in third. These three put on tremendous race for the crowds of spectators that gathered around the track, Mick Kendall again dominated the 040 class taking a comfortable win, while overall honours in the clubman class went to James Clift, talking to TGOR'S Martyn Field at the end , we were pleased with the day proceedings and the unrivalled support the events and the championship receives , I must thank the whole TGOR team for there superb effort which aids the continuing development of the events and maintains the championship as the best supported in the uk. It's great to see all the riders going away having enjoyed the days racing.

Split into 2 races the first race started at 9am with the Sportsman taking to the line. The sportsman class was divided into E1 and Open. As the race settled down it was clear it was going to be fought out and won by one of the two young up and coming riders Harry Hillas Ktm 125 and Andrew Noakley on a Robinsons Ktm 250. The riders started to struggle on the Proclean banks after the hour mark, so to keep the race flowing they were cut out. The bulk of the sportsman were finding the conditions tricky. Not so Harry Hillas and Andrew Noakley who by now were well out in front with Harry Hillas Taking the win in the E1 Class and Andrew Noakley taking the Open Class win. They both completed 10 laps. The DBT Crew had reinstated then proclean banks which caused so much trouble in the sportsman race. A the impressive field set off around the challenging course, Justin the daddy Wilson was back to lap scoring first riding his Sandiford Honda 250. He was closely followed by team leader Martin Sandiford on his crf250x, making his return to the sport from his serious knee surgery. Gavin Houson riding his MPS Racing Husqvarna 125 was some what down in the field at this point. But starting to move up by lap three Gav moved into second place. The daddy Wilson was starting to stretch his lead and by the hour mark his lead was over 4 mins over second place Gav Houson. As the race drew into its final hour MPS racing Steve Melville riding his Bikesport Yam was in third place. As the Clock reached the 2 hour mark Justin the Daddy Wilson had laped the field completing a fine 12 laps from Gav Houson 2nd and a solid 3rd for Steve Melville.

The Clubman race had 2 sub classed E1 and Open. In the Open class the racing was very close with only seconds splitting the top 3 who all completed 10 laps. The win went to David Wood narrowly from Ben Rennison and in third was James Clift. The E1 win went to Damien Butler, in second was Chris Whitfield only 4 seconds behind in 3rd place was the ever popular Burton Leonard builder Lee Smith.

Jack Twentyman took the over 40 class tin, still getting back to full fitness after his serious injury 1 year ago at Butts. Andrew Holland came in 2nd with Dave Selkeld in 3rd on his CRF 250X Honda. They all completed 9 laps on the demanding circuit.

That was DitBike Traxs first full motorcycle weekend of 2007, which was an outstanding success. Over 400 riders took part in the various races and training. It also drew a close to the Winter Series, with Justin the Daddy Wilson taking the overall series win. A big thanks to PRO CLEAN who provided every rider with a bottle of their excellent bike cleaner. A big thanks goes to PUTOLINE the series sponsor for helping through the winter months. A big thank you goes to all the riders for supporting us through this winter championship. See you all at Driffield on the 18th of Feb for Round 1 of the National Putoline Hare Scramble championship. Round 2 of the Putoline Winter Hare Scramble Championship organized by true grit off road

The Two Hou's take Driff

The true grit team lead by the inspirational Marytn field, produced another cracking event at there popular Driffield venue, using a mixture of woodland tracks open grassland and an interesting quarry section giving a lap time of about 15 mins for the experts. The weather was cold with an icy wind leading up to the event but as Sunday dawned the wind had dropped leaving a sunny day. Starting the days proceedings were the young hare scramblers in total some 70 riders taking part. Split into three classes' senior A, Senior B and junior. First way was the Senior class one minute ahead of the juniors. Off into an early lead was Josh Bendall KTM 125 closely followed by Liam Ward 125 DBT Yamaha. Rob Dawson got a poor start but started to make his way through the pack. Steadily pulling away from the chasing pack Rob Dawson passed Liam Ward to move into second with Will Howe moving into fourth. As the race drew into the final stages Josh Bendall managed to get out for an extra lap to take a well deserved victory from Rob Dawson Second, Liam Ward Third, Will Howe Fourth and Thomas Healey Fifth. In The Senior B Class Jordan Maxwell put in a great ride to win by a clear lap from Nathan Williamson Second, Jack Davis Third, Sam Jackson Fourth and Michael Raymond Fifth. The junior class was won by Davey Todd who completed 7 laps with Luke Flack second on 6 laps, Ayrton Aldridge third, Michael Tatham fourth and Danny Bewley fifth. With a nice award presentation that completed the youth hare scrambles day.

11:30am saw a massive line up of 350 adult riders who were going to race for 2 and half hours. First off were the well supported Expert class with Kawasaki mounted Ryan Voase taking the Hole Shot and leading the pack off into the woods for the first time. Disaster struck Justin 'the daddy' Wilson (top) as his Sandiford Honda fouled a plug costing over 12 mins before he got his bike going causing him to start dead last and facing a massive task of fighting his way through the entire field of 350 riders. First back to lap scoring was Ryan Voase followed by Gav Houson (left) riding his MPS Racing Husquavarna 125, followed by RAS Sport rider Danny Blakley. Gav was chasing Ryan hard and as Ryan caught the back markers in the woods Gav managed to slip past taking up the lead which he held through the early stages. Ryan was charging and re took the lead but he ran into trouble in the form of a puncture which caused him to retire, allowing Gav back into the lead. By now old timer Mark Houson had now moved into Second place with DBT rider the very Rich Milner in Third place with having one of his best rides for some time. The riders remained in these positions until the end. Fastest lap of the day went to the charging Justin Wilson having suffered his bad start he finished in a creditable 8th place. The Over 40 class was dominated by Jack Twentyman who finished a lap ahead of Andrew Holland in Second and Dennis Harrison in Third, with Rob Butler having an off day in Fourth. The clubman class was won by Ian Shannon Honda 125 from Lancashire's Aaron Dougdale second and James Clift in third. The Sportsman class which was by far the biggest of the classes was won by Nathan White, Harry Hillas second and Ben Scott third Stephen Thornton finishing fourth. Some of the top sportsmen will no doubt want to face the challenge in the clubman class as they are defiantly on the pace.

Event director Martyn Field would like to thank all the team of TGOR and to all the riders that supported this event with this incredible entry. They again with there superb organisation produce another outstanding event which went like clockwork.
