WOR Events returned to the fantastic TYNO venue last Wednesday night to run the last round of the CF Racing sponsored Evening xc series. After the huge success of the previous weekends events at the venue the hard working WOR track builders made some nice changes to the course and if any thing improved it for the lucky Wednesday evening riders.

Rain threatened as dull sky's hung over head but none of the wet stuff came during the race duration which was a god send as the track would have been extremely slippy underfoot in the wet.

A healthy turn out of riders took to the start line for the 6.30pm 2 hour race and after a short safety brief from WOR number 1 Steve Ireland, the riders were blasting into the first corner and away into the lovely park land based 4 mile circuit.

Returning from his triumphant weekend win on the Relentless Suzuki was Paul Edmondson. This time Fast Eddy was out on the 450 four stroke rather than the 250 2t and wow was he moving. Leading from start to finish, Edmondson really turned on the style for the lucky spectators as he carved his way through the twisting circuit with devastating effect. Runner up once more to Edmondson was the always committed KBR racer Lincoln Brewster. Brewster was 2 minutes and 26 seconds down on Edmondson come the end and this 2 minute margin is what normally separates these two guys when they face each other in these XC type of events. Someone asked Paul Ed at the end how come he did not beat Lincoln by more time than 2 minutes and Edmondson's reply was fair and true, "That's how quick Lincoln is mate!!" Brewster at nearly 38 years old and Edmondson at 39 are pretty much untouchable in this WOR series and proof that the sport is not just for the youngsters. Edmondson is taking part in the majority of the WOR Events calendar this year and said he comes to WOR for a proper workout with a very professional and very well organised outfit, on the best XC tracks in the UK! A fair testament to the quality of these class leading events. Taking his first podium in the expert class since his recent promotion 3rd placed KBR rider Lewis Belfield. Former British 125 Enduro Champion, Andrew Edwards was unlucky to clip a tree on his first lap and whacked his shoulder and broke his clutch, putting the rapid Wrexham racer out of the race.

There was an awesome battle taking place in the small clubman class with the top 3 riders really having a blast and chopping and changing the lead. In the end it was the super smooth Gary Daniels (left) on his KTM 125 that secured the class win from Stephen Hughes in 2nd and Daffyd Jones in 3rd. Hughes (gg250) was unlucky not to take the win after he had got the lead and was riding really well until his front sprocket lost its teeth and left him devastated and clinging on to forward momentum. He did well to hold onto the silver place.

Series sponsor and CF Racing shop owner Gareth Lloyd was as always pushing hard in the veteran class but had to settle for 4th on the night as the other fast Edmondson and enduro legend, Derrick (right: Paul's Older Brother!) took the 3rd place award with a steady ride on his 300 KTM. Above Edmondson was a proper bar banging battle between them two over 45 veteran front runners Colin Jones and Raymond Whittall. Swapping and changing the lead several times and going very quickly indeed saw the Yamaha Mounted Jones take a near 2 minute advantage from Honda mounted Whittall with both riders completing 15 laps.

The top sportsman was Ben Ball from Kevin Freeman and the improving Tim Wrigley in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Novice awards went to David Dudley, Phil Jones and Dean Williams. 1st, 2nd and 3rd in that order.

Jane Daniels was best lady again with another solid performance. Josh Parry took his first win in the youth class as he capitalised on a puncture from young Simon Jones. Parry's KTM 200 was flying towards the end and he managed to get in 1 extra lap on the hard charging Jones. 3rd place went to Owain Davies with a well deserved trophy winning ride.

This event rounded off the 2nd annual running of the CF Racing midweek series and what a cracker it has been with quality venues and great weather coupled with top drawer organisation and that awesome feeling of racing your dirt bike midweek which in it's self feels amazing.

WOR Events next off road festivities is the 9/10TH August at the fantastic Robins Mountain Circuit near Abergele in North Wales with a popular Race Experience play day on the Saturday and the DOODSON MOTORSPORT rd 1 of the 2 man team and Iron man challenge taking place on the Sunday. More details are available by calling 07944378432 or by visiting www.worevents.com

PS…..In the interest of not only fairness but rider development WOR will be moving all the top clubman riders to Expert, Top sportsman riders to Clubman and Novice riders to Sportsman class for the next championship event. Once again showing class leading fairness and professionalism in this ever growing sport.

Two KBR riders on the podium Report by Kenny Belfield team manager KBR

Wednesday evening was the last round of the CF RACING championship, in which Lincoln Brewster (above) only needed to beat Andy Edwards to guarantee his second consecutive win. The event was held at the fantastic TYNO Landegla course in north Wales.

With the conditions perfect (track and weather) the race started as scheduled at bang on 6.30pm. The holeshot was taken by Lewis Belfield with Lincoln in hot pursuit. As the pair sped off into the distance the running order had changed in Lincoln's favour closely followed by Andy's little screaming 125 KTM and then the fire breathing 450 Suzuki of the fantastic Paul Edmondson. As the riders came back into sight towards the end of the 1st lap it was the roaring Suzuki of Mr Edmondson, with a 20 sec lead over Lincoln and Andy. It  looked like the battle was on and Lewis closely following in 4th spot. Come the 2nd lap & disaster had struck for Andy as a collision with a tree had broken his clutch master cylinder & promoted Lewis up to 3rd. Lincoln was left to concentrate on chasing the booming Suzuki of Mr.Edmondson.

At half way stage Lincoln had a 1 minute deficit on the leader whilst Lewis had a chasing pack of clubmen to deal with after a crash saw him lose time. At 1 hour 30 both riders fueled and even the fast flowing track had not drained the tanks, so with a quick 5 liters of petrol and a good drink of GO off they went for the last half hour. Linc still loving the going chasing Paul and Lewis (right) showing his expert status and fitness by pulling away from from the hounding clubmen. Come the chequered flag, it was Paul Eddy 1st with a great display of how to ride a 450 and Linc some 2 minutes behind with Lewis putting in a mature ride to take 3rd. As the bikes went in the vans a presentation was started and Lewis took his first trophy in the experts. On the other side was Lincoln and in the middle was 4 times world champion Paul Edmondson. So for the two KBR riders to be on the podium was great. With a tasty burger to finish off - job done. Our next event will be the Doodson 2 man team event at the brilliant Robin's mountain in Abergele, a track both riders enjoy returning to. See you there. PS special thanks to Chaddy for brilliant preparation of the KTM 200 XC,s.

4TH POSITION AT THE WOR/CF RACING SUMMER EVENING EVENT

Stan Watt was the sole rider from Front Row GB at the WOR/CF Racing Evening Event, located at Tyno, nr. Llandegla, North Wales.

The two hour hare and hounds affair was based within private grounds, which due to restrictions can only be used for 1 week per year. Steve Ireland from WOR Events, had orchestrated an excellent flowing course set in 200 acres with a mixture off-camber grass areas, fast, undulating and sweeping sections plus multiple wooded sectors with exposed tree roots to catch out the unaware.

The Edmondson brothers were present, with Paul riding a RMZ 450 Suzuki in the expert group and Derrick on a KTM 250 EXC in the Vets Class. Both riders would end the event on both respective podiums; Paul winning the expert group and Derrick 3rd in the Veterans Class.

The event started on time at 6.30pm with the expert group heading away first. Stan got away well initially in second but by the 4th corner had been relegated to 3rd by Paul Edmondson with Lincoln Brewster, leading the pack. The expert group stayed very close for the first lap with 4 riders fighting for 3rd as Edmondson and Brewster pulled away. Shortly into lap two, Stan had a fast crash in one of the wooded sectors pushing him back to 5th while Paul Edmondson moved into a prominent lead, which he would convincingly extend throughout the rest of the race.

By the end of lap 2, Stan had moved back ahead of Andy Edwards into 4th, who eventually would not finish the event. Stan was able to maintain a good pace on an enjoyable course but couldn’t make any further time into the front runners of Paul Edmondson, Lincoln Brewster and Lewis Belfield, thus easily secured 4th by the end of the event.

The Edmondson Racing ’09 KTM250 EXC performed well after some minor changes to improve power delivery in preparation for the rapidly approaching British Enduro Championship, Llandovery, Wales on 9th/10th August.

WEDNESDAY EVENING XC SERIES 2008
ROUND 2 11TH JUNE @ MAESHAFN, MOLD, FLINTSHIRE
Report by G.Turner Pictures by CETRA event Photography.

"After a cracking event at the ever popular MAESHAFN last weekend the hard working WOR Events team returned on Wednesday night to run the 2nd round of the CF Racing Wednesday Evening XC series. Nearly 100 riders entered the 2 hour race starting at 6.30pm sharp on a completely different lap to the previous weekend's circuit. With grading work and stone removal having taken place in the couple of days preceding the event, added to the fact the course builders added in some fresh sections made for a 4.5 mile loop that apart from the dust had everyone pleased with their decision to ride.

Once again it was that man Lincoln Brewster who was to prove the fastest man there. On his KTM 200 he simply just pulled away and stayed there from start to finish, riding with his usual neat and flowing style. Come the end of the race Lincoln was the only rider to complete 14 laps of the track. Second placed Expert was Andrew Edwards, on his KTM 125. Edwards finished 1 minute and 20 seconds ahead of bronze finisher Andrew Cripps. Cripps was up to his usual tricks by entertaining the crowds with "big air!" The clubman group was topped by Lewis Belfield who after a huge race long ding dong with Stephen Hughes was 40 seconds clear at the top with 13 laps. Hughes took the runner up place also on 13 laps from 3rd placed Daf Jones. Hughes finishing 1 and a half minutes clear of CF racings Jones.

The Veteran class has the over 45's and over 35's combined for this championship and it was a very healthy class. Colin Jones (left)  took a well deserved win from series sponsor Gareth Lloyd and Ian Barnett in 3rd. All the top 3 here did 13 laps to their credit.

Jason Hicken took the sportsman honours with Darren Moloney taking the Novice group. These guys did 12 laps a piece putting them on club man pace more than the intermediate groups they had entered. Simon Jones took a great youth class win on his little Yam 85 from runner up Josh Taylor. Huw Jones on his Gas Gas 125 was a well respectable 3rd place. All the top youth riders did 11 laps.

In the small ladies group Young Jane Daniels was unstoppable at the front with 11 laps to her credit from Kate Lloyds 10 in the runner up position and Leah Jones in the final podium place on 9 circuits.

The presentation was wrapped up neatly and over 20 trophies given out within minutes of the last rider crossing the line and as darkness fell over the beautiful venue and the riders left the paddock the WOR team sat back and had a few very well deserved beers as the next days clean up mission was planned. "JASON THOMAS IS A BIT OF WOR RIGHT"

Results Final Standings

The blue, white and red riding kit of Yamaha Mounted Jason Thomas is becoming a blur for the rest of his competitors as the Telford based rider blasted to his 3rd overall WOR win in succession. Another faultless display of speed, stamina, and style saw the Morris Lubricants/Core supported rider lead from start to finish and leave his peers with no answer. This event was WOR's 3rd in 10 days, and those had all been at different venues, This is quite a remarkable feat and shows just how good that Steve Ireland and his WOR team are at providing Professional, quality, safe and well organised races for the growing off road crowd and keeps them right at the top of the tree when it comes to promoting and running events in the UK.

The final round of the hugely popular C F Racing Wednesday night series was staged at the brilliant Carrog Isa venue, a scene of many a great WOR event in the past and it certainly was a cracker on Wednesday night. A straight 2 hour Hare and Hounds was the format and the Open class had quality brimming out of it with the likes of TM's WEC star Euan McConnell, Former 125 British Enduro Champion Andy Edwards, the rapid Ricky Mair, Tim Forman fresh from a win at last weekends Simon Rees memorial event and of course Lincoln Brewster, KB Racings number 1 rider, throw in top AMCA mx rider Jason Rennie and the competition was very stiff indeed. The line up of fast riders did not bother JT though as he simply glided to victory with lap times that set the pace for the entire race. Something has "clicked" recently for Jason and obviously his American experiences have really bought out and honed a talent that was always there. He could well be the best multi lap racer in XC and H&H in the country at the moment, fair praise indeed. Second to Thomas was the "Flying Scotsman" Euan McConnell, out on his 300 TM, Euan had some early fuel worries and after forgetting to fuel the bike before the start he had to pit after lap 1 to fill up!!. This cost him some time and dropped him down the ranks a bit but he soon worked his way through the pack and was chasing Thomas down with some very fast mountain top riding indeed. Euan was elated at the end at the fact he had got a nice shiny trophy and was quoted as saying " Brilliant event, and that's the first real trophy I've had in my hands all year…it's nice to see all the people and the social side at the race presentation clapping and cheering the riders, it does not happen at other so called high profile events and makes a refreshing change". KB Racing Lincoln Brewster took a very determined 3rd place after a race long battle with McConnell and the committed Bolton based rider did just enough to get the overall series title with a 1 point margin over Andrew Edwards, so very well done Lincoln in securing your first title of 2007 and for the improvement in riding over the last year that now sees him on par with the big names in the scene.

The Clubman 2t class is simply Harry Hillas's and boy is he riding well, the little KTM 125 is on full song and within a couple more meetings I think we will see this nice young man make a move up to the expert ranks. 2nd went to Daf Jones on his Suzuki 250 with a great ride to celebrate his 18th birthday with. The final podium place then went to Aled Humphreys a further 3 minutes down on Jones. In the 4t class it was Rudy Austin with the win from Jim Bucanan in second and Mick Rayson in 3rd. Jim doing enough to secure the overall title for the series on his Pete Jones KTM 250F.

Steve Hughes once again topped the sportsman class with a fine ride from 2nd placed Russel Wooley and 3rd placed man Rob Lambert.

Josh Taylor is coming on in leaps and bounds and the likeable youngster is always very polite and well mannered, on his Yamaha 125 with a big tank he is setting a fair pace for the rest of the youth class to try and live with and fully deserved his win. Joe Wootton took a brilliant 2nd place on his little 85 and Wootton too is going to be one to watch in the future with a nice clean riding style. 3rd place youth went to Gary Daniels on his KX125.

Betws Motos supported Beta rider Rob Morris took the over 35's from Dave Carthy in 2nd and Allan Hopwood in 3rd. All three riders were going well in the evening sunshine and rolling mountain circuit. Morris was a clear winner of the group though with a big gap between them.

Colin Jones is back on form with a bang in the over 45's and took the spoils from Ray Whittal in a repeat of last Sundays battle. Jones ended up getting in an extra lap from Whittle. Series sponsor Gareth Lloyd was out on a borrowed bike and was having fun. Lloyd was the class leader for the first 45 minutes and looked like shaking things up between Jones and Whittle but a lack of power and some tired arms meant the "Lloydster" had to settle for 3rd place and some very valuable championship points.

A very special mention must go to WOR's most experienced rider, Mr Gordon Waugh, at 71 years of age and with 2 new hips he has decided to buy a Gas Gas 200 to go along with his many other motorbikes and start competing…always smiling and friendly he is an inspiration to all at WOR and long may he continue to grace the circuits with his presence.

Only one lady rider turned out and that was another Lloyd, this time Gareth's Daughter Kate. Kate had a steady ride and like her dad took some important points for the series. Finally in the novice class it was Ben Ball with the win from Jim Fitzsimons and Andrew Roberts. Special mention for Roberts who pushed his bike a quarter of a mile to get his podium place after running out of petrol.

And so a great night's end to a great series and all the riders will surely look forward to the 2008 CF Racing championship with glee. The final positions for 2007 will be worked on ASAP and then the large prize fund will be split between the top 3 in each class with some cracking product prizes. With another 3 championships still running (Motul GBHS,Michelin Endurance and GGMotos XC) the next few months for WOR are going into over drive and means there is still a lot of quality events to come from Steve and the Gang.

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS SUMMER H&H SERIES
RD 3 18.7.07 OROR ESTATE, CORWEN
Report: Gwynne Turner. Pics: Aspect Event Photography. Results: Enduro Master
Results Standings after 3 rounds

WOR EVENTS staged round 3 of the CF Racing Wednesday night summer championships last night in conditions that were just about perfect. The track was set out quite a bit different from a usual WOR Event with a very fast and flowing field based track including several new wooded areas and a completely new parking and paddock set up. The Oror Estate is a brilliant venue but the 3 times it has been used previously has seen monsoon type weather ruin the day, not so on Wednesday night as at last the sunshine was out and t shirts were the order of the day.

It really was a busy day for WOR, with a first time try out for the popular Race Experience practice day running midweek, then the evening 2 hour event followed on by the launch and open night of the WOR endorsed CF Racing off road shop. An action packed off road day that was well worth all the hard work to set up.

The midweek practice day was a winner, the evening event then had a superb turn out and the open night at the shop was packed to the rafters, so all in all a good day was achieved.

The serious stuff was the racing and with the big open track in perfect condition it was a huge arena for the faster riders to strut their stuff.

Jason Thomas is a young rider that has recently been out in the States competing in the Gncc's along with the OMA series and with some success too. The last ride he had with WOR was the 2006 Tough One and after honing his skills even more in the US it was a marvel to watch the speed of the ex mx rider as he simply destroyed the opposition from start to finish. Out on a Morris Lubricants/Core Yamaha 250 and with top-drawer competition from Andrew Edwards, Rowland Morris, Lincoln Brewster and Lee Payne it was fair to say that Thomas was unstoppable. Race Boss Steve Ireland commented to me during the race that he had not seen a rider go so fast in one of his events for a long time especially in the woods. Brewster and Morris are Hare and Hounds specialists and after having ridden the BEC the previous weekend with average results (not what they are used to!) they were out to try and redeem themselves. Edwards was out to gain valuable points as he and Brewster were on the same score after the first 2 rounds. Lee Payne had traveled up with Brewster for a blast and really set the cat amongst the pigeons as for 1 hour and 45 minutes it was the KTM mounted Payne that was running second to Thomas. With The flying Thomas was so far ahead at the front of the pack, Payne had the same size lead from 3rd place and only a very unlucky running out of fuel situation cost him a fantastic podium place and an unfortunate DNF. After a steady start Andrew Edwards (KTM200) started to fly and was in the race of his life with GAS GAS man Rowland Morris. They were neck and neck over the last couple of laps and crossed the line at the checkered flag only 3 seconds apart with Andrew the higher placed rider. With that 2nd place finish Edwards is now the series leader going into the last round. Lincoln Brewster was plagued by a dodgy back brake from early on in the second hour and just could not push hard enough on the super quick sections of the circuit. Jason Thomas unbelievably lapped the entire field cleanly within the time allowed a fine display and a fully deserved win.

The clubman 2T class had the flying Harry Hillas in a solid 3rd place after some early brake problems and Robert Hughes in 2nd but the man to beat was CF Racing employee and all round nice Guy, Daffyd Jones. Jones is 18 and riding a box standard Suzuki 250, improving every ride and on his way to expert status. Well done Daf.

Jim Bucanan topped the clubman 4T'S with Jim Barrie and Chris Duckworth in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The winner in the over 35 group was Ben Baddley. Ben was at a good expert standard when he used to race with WOR and due to work commitments he has had a good few years missing from the sport. He came straight back with a class win and a fine ride, good for the sport with committed riders like Ben coming back into it. 2nd went to the flying Yamaha mounted Dave Carthy although Baddely managed to sneak in an extra lap. 3rd went to Allan Hopwood with another strong ride.

Over 45's have Colin Jones back on form and Jonesy took a well deserved win from Neil Duncan and local farm manager Gareth Jones. Colin was 2 laps clear from his rivals, for most of the race though he was pushed hard by Ray Whittal but on looking at the results Whittal suffered a DNF around the 11-lap mark.

The CF RACING series caters for everyone and the is a 9 classes for the riders to battle there way through. Taking a fine win in the Sportsman class is the ever improving and very skillful Lewis Belfield. Lewis took a 2-minute lead from second placed Steven Hughes. Scott Hughes (TM125) missed the start and set off out to catch the rest of the field, he did just that finishing on the same lap as the top 2 and making a brilliant podium position. All the top 3 sportsman finished on 14 laps.

Ben Ball topped the novice class with ease from Daffyd Roberts in 2nd place and Andrew Roberts in 3rd. The ladies was topped by Jane Daniels whose little TTR was flying around in top gear, 2nd went to newcomer Sarah Rogers. Sarah had her first day off road on the practice day and made it a real family affair, The whole family now compete at WOR, the dad, son, daughter and now MUM!! Well done.

Finally the always-competitive Youth class. Out his new and modified Husky 125 was Joe Deakin and boy was he flying for the duration. After being in school for the day and dad working in the midlands, they made a fast dash over to North Wales and were not messing about. Deakin had a 2-minute lead going into the last lap from Gary Daniels on his KX125. However a brake problem in one of the last woods sections allowed the determined Daniels to sneak through and take the win. Deakin managed a well-deserved 2nd place and Tom Beedles topped of the podium with a fine ride.

As the race ended and results printed it was a quick 3-minute drive down the road to CF Racing for the presentation and the awards ceremony, all tied into the new enduro shops launch. Loads of industry support and backing were present including the enduro legend that is Paul "FAST EDDY" Edmondson. A classy food spread with drinks flowing, music and chat to back up the quality products that lined the shop ensured that everyone had gone home satisfied with the days off road proceedings.

Left to right: Rowan Jones (CORE), Liam Hughes (WOR Events), John Shirt (Gas Gas), Gareth Lloyd (Owner of CF Racing), Roy Kerr (TRAIL TECH), Jason Thomas (Winner of  Rd3 CF Series), Paul Edmondson (Fast Eddy), Scott Dommett (Apico), Mike Wilby (Race FX).

Over 350 people visited the shop and hopefully will be back in the future to support CFR as they move forward with their new venture.

Once more a fantastic performance from young Jason Thomas was the highlight of a great day.

WOR's next event is rd 2 of the MICHELIN ENDURANCE series on the weekend of 28/29th July. A Race Experience Day takes place on the Saturday and then a5 hour Iron man or 2 man team event is on the Sunday. More details at entries@worevents.com or 07944378432.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT SUMMER H&H SERIES 2007 ROUND 2 27.6.07 Report: Gwynne Turner.

The WOR Events teams were back in action last Wednesday night at Nantmawr quarry to run the 2nd round of the CF RACING sponsored Wednesday evening summer series. This is a 4 round championship of 2 hour evening events and has classes for 9 different sets of riders. After running a successful weekend at the venue the WOR team changed certain areas of the circuit and included some fresh going. The weather was once again kind to the organizers and as the rest of the poor country was swallowed up in horrendous floods, Nantmawr was believe it or not bathed in evening sunshine. The track was however quite slippery for the first few laps as the previous days rain had soaked in.

In simply awesome form was KB Racing Gas Gas rider Lincoln Brewster. Riding smoothly and very quickly to establish a tidy victory. Lincoln was determined as ever and after having a rare DNF on the Sunday event went out to put things right. Lincoln took the lead on the 3rd lap from Ben Wootton (Honda 250) who was having a great start and is finding some great form of late. Wooton eventually dropped to 4th but was well deserved of that placing. Former British 125 Enduro champion, Andy Edwards had a rear brake problem early on and was circulating in 5th place for a while. After repairing the problem he was out on the track setting the fastest laps of the day by far and with only seconds to go just missed out on another lap. Edwards (KTM 250F) finished in 2nd place overall. Genus Honda rider Chris Tett was out on his 480 CRF and was in fine form with a solid 3 rd podium place. Tett has got the bit back between his teeth now after injury and a semi retirement, good to see.

The fastest clubman 2 stroke rider out there by far was Harry Hillas. Hillas was injured in a fast fall at the Sunday event and had to take a visit to hospital but true to Enduro riders in general he was back out there and winning 3 days later. Harry was infact the fastest rider out of all the clubman, 2 t and 4t, finishing second in the 2t's was local rider just back from injury Marcus Jones and in 3rd was Young Ashley Martin with a solid performance. The best 4t was Karl Claybrook out on his Beta 450 and taking a commanding win from Russel Wooley and Chris Duckworth.

With Ian Barnett taking the over 35's and Colin Jones back on form to take the over 45's it was left to Allan Hopwood (KTM) and Ian Thomas (YAM) to take 2nd and 3rd respectively in the over 35 section and Steve Clift and Gareth Lloyd (series sponsor) To podium in the over 45's.

The top rider in the youth class was Gary Daniels with another stylish ride to pip Young Joe Wootton (good riders in the family!!!) and 3rd placed Huw Jones.

The track by the half way point was in near perfect condition and the lap times went from 9 mins to 20 mins depending on ability etc. The 2-hour event seemed to fly by from a spectator's point of view as the welcome blues skies were such a contrast from the rain soaked UK.

Shining in the sunshine in the sportsman class was TM mounted Scott Hughes. Hughes took a 3 and a half-minute advantage from Corwen based rider Gareth Roberts. 3rd went to Rob Lambert in his first ride in the Sportsman class.

The novice class spoils went to Dylan Roberts and Jane Daniels topped the small ladies group.

With a neat 2-hour event and slick trophy presentation the evening was rapped up for 9pm and the riders and spectators made their way home from this famous quarry.

WEDNESDAY EVENING WELSH SUMMER HARE & HOUNDS SERIES 2007. 1ST ROUND RACE REPORT FROM WED 2.5.07. @ MAESHAFN, MOLD.

Results

"New Gas Gas dealers and off road suppliers CF Racing, from Corwen in North Wales, have thrown some support and weight behind this fun new Wednesday evening series. With four 2-hour races making up the championship, spreading from May through to August, the series got off to great start last Wednesday night as over a hundred riders booked in for some midweek off road fun. The track was completely different to the previous weekends GAS GAS MOTOS UK XC series and offered the riders some fresh and challenging going. The one thing that remained the same as the weekends events was the dust, and lots of it. The circuit was whooped out with powdery sand like dust that was more like riding on a Brazilian beach than a North Wales mountain.

The event got underway bang on 6.30pm and the club had a class for just about every rider to slip into. The race was led by Lincoln Brewster on his KBR Gas Gas 250 up until the fuel point and this is were the very fast and thoughtful KTM UK rider Andrew Edwards took over the lead and rode steadily and safely in the dusty conditions to take the win. Rowland Morris (WOR GG 250) had a terrible crash whilst in the lead on the previous weekends events and the fact that he was riding at all shocked some people. Morris battled in some pain with rib and leg injuries to earn a well-deserved 3rd spot overall. The clubman was topped by Jim Buchanan and young Harry Hillas. Buchanan topping the 4t's and Hillas the 2t's. Jim was the only clubman rider to get in 13 laps though. The always fast over 35's vets class was won by the track owner Ian Thomas, quite remarkable really as Ian does not ride the land at home..EVER!!! Thomas beat Ian Barnett into second and Dave Carthy into 3rd place.

The fastest over 45 rider was the series sponsor, Mr Gareth Lloyd (left), out on his CFR 300 GG and riding very determined to take the class spoils. 2nd place went to Ray Whitall (CFR 300 GG ) AND 3RD place went to Neil Duncan. Duncan used to be a WOR regular but work commitments mean he can't make weekends anymore…nice to see him on the podium. There was a slight breeze for most of the evening that was managing to keep the dust clouds moving, this breeze however moved away with about 10 mins to go and left the dust just hanging there. This was the factor that on the grounds of safety the clerk of the course decided to curtail the racing slightly earlier than planned. No one seemed to mind and it did not really affect the outcome in the other classes that saw Scott Hughes win the sportsman class and Andrew Roberts win the novice class. Both these young riders deserving their wins.

The Youth class was won quite easily by Tom Beedles and the ladies topped by the awesome World level Ladies Mountain bike rider, Rachael Atherton (left).

A special mention for a brave young lady, Ms Hannah Jenkins (ttr125), Hannah had a nasty burn on her bum after a collision with a clubman rider, she had landed on his exhaust front pipe and got trapped, leaving her with a nasty scar to remember Honda's by. The main thing through her tears of pain was the fact she did not want to score a DNF!!! A true enduro rider there I think.

As the dark came in and the paddock emptied the organizing team at WOR could sit back and relax knowing that once again they had provided the riders and spectators with 3 days of quality enduro racing.

Round 2 of the CF Racing series is at Nantmawr Quarry on Wednesday 27th June.
