Snowrun 2002: The Movie

The Director's Cut of Snowrun 2002 is now available in WMV.

Made in both black & white & colour by legendary Llandrindod Wells cinematographer Frank Morgan, Snowrun 2002 is a sincere homage to the post war neo-realist style of documentary film making.

The narrative is an allegory of Life itself that juxtaposes Man's internal conflicts with his eternal struggle against the elemental forces of Nature & in three tightly shot episodes, Frank combines the bitter pessimism of Ingmar Bergman with the emotional intensity of Frederico Fellini.

In the beginning Man arises reborn from primeval waters into a world of pain. Later we see him striving endlessly along his predestined path beset by obstacles & finally he cries out for solitude to contemplate the end.

In the lead, Frank cast the youthful Bob Mullins whose boyish good looks & winning charm are a poignant counterpoint to the bleak landscape into which he is thrust. Sadly Bob's film career was cut tragically short by a scandal that rocked the film industry after Snowrun 2002 was omitted from that year's Oscars Short Film category when it was revealed in the tabloid press that Bob was secretly Welsh.

Today attitudes to Welshness have softened & Snowrun 2002 has been recognised as a classic of the film makers art. Look out for Marlon Brando in one of his unforgettable cameo roles as the man in the Dayglo jacket.
