The Enduro European Championship opened this weekend in Letojanni (Italy), beach resort close to Taormina, Sicily - Details
Tim Foreman wins the Adrian Nixon Memorial Hare and Hounds Report by Wayne James A very damp and foggy morning greeted the riders as they turned up for the Adrian Nixon Memorial Hare and Hounds. It was good to see a great turnout of over 100 riders lining up for the start, although the low mist was causing quite a concern for the organisers. The decision was made by the clerk of the course Gethin Price, to have a sighting lap on the open part of the hill for the Experts and Clubman riders. This decision proved to be a good one as the low fog was causing poor visibility, by allowing these riders to ride behind club marshals it would make it easier for others to follow when the race commenced. Sunday's MOTUL GBHS RD 1 was cancelled due to a very sad incident that reminds us all of how short and precious life is. Dave Wilson from Cheadle passed away in a non race related incident in the morning session and obviously the rest of the days proceedings were cancelled immediately. Our thoughts are with the Wilson family and friends. The MOTUL series will resume on 8th June. Other

This years rally had a record Brit entry and was one of the best rallies I can remember. The overall number of entries had been reduced by 30% from previous years and two pre tours by the organisation meant there were plenty of new tracks for the competitors to find. The going was a mix of open tracks and shorter hard enduro sections with rocky climbs and technical navigation.

ROUND 1 @ LLANDRILLO FOREST. 6TH APRIL 2008. Report by G. Turner After having had to cancel this round 1 of the ACERBIS Sprint Scrambles the previous weekend due to terrible wet weather at Mold, Imagine the Horror on the WOR teams face when they awoke to deep snow on Sunday morning in the superb Llandrillo Forest to run the rescheduled event. The snow however was no match for the hard working and vastly experienced track team. Lots of riders did not show up due to simply not being able to get there, The m56 motorway was shut and some of the roads surrounding the venue were very tricky indeed. However a substantial amount of riders did get there and were treated to a brilliant days racing. The circuit was 6 miles in length and was based on firm fire roads and also included some lovely open moorland sections and some rutted and rocky climbs and downhills. Aston Bird used all his MX experience to top both special tests and was the only championship class rider who managed to stay clean for the full 11 laps. Chris Hockey his closed rival on both tests had problems during the day and finished a disappointed seventh.
