The Robbie Allan Memorial Event has been devised to commemorate the late Robbie Allan’s lifetime participation in and contribution to all aspects of motorcycle sport in Scotland and further afield. It also aims to raise a considerable amount of money for Robbie’s chosen charity MacMillan Cancer Care. The Allan family and friends have been working hard to make this unique event a weekend of classic off-road competition and pure nostalgia. Robbie’s younger brother Vic (1974 Double British Motocross Champion) has pulled out all the stops to successfully attract a whole host of off-road celebrities from the world of trials, scrambles and enduros to Tinto in July. The list includes former British, European and World champions some of whom will compete or parade whilst others will simply enjoy being part of the event. The weekend action kicks off on Saturday 19th of July with an Enduro followed by a Trial. Sunday will see loads of action on the scrambles track. Over the weekend there will be a host of activities taking place in and around the licensed marquee including raffle, auction, guest interviews, quiz and bike display. Although predominantly a Pre.’65/Twinshock event (originally open to 50
years old and over) The Saturday Trial and Sunday Scramble will still be Pre.’65/Twinshock only and open to riders of 40 years old and over. The Saturday Time Card Enduro is being run (on behalf of the organisers) by the experienced and long established Kingston & District MCC. They have promised their chairman Vic Allan that they will utilise the 10 mile enduro loop at Tinto to good effect and make sure it is suitable for everyone. The organisers are grateful to them for their enthusiasm and for coming such a long distance to support the event. Information and Entries are available by sending an SAE to John McCrink, Braeside Cottage, Grange Road, North Berwick EH39 4QT or by emailing johnmccrink@googlemail.com Tel: 01620248304. Tinto MotoPark, Rigside Lanarkshire is only 50 miles North of Carlisle and a mere 4 miles off the M74 motorway. Free camping for competitors is available at the circuit from Monday July 14th with toilets on site but no mains water. A nearby service station on the M74 has water available. Accommodation is available in the nearby towns of Lanark, Biggar, Abington and Peebles.
