Enduro Cross
Report & photos Teamsnapper

It is very plain to see why CORE have become such a force in the Enduro event calendar with such enthusiasm and a very much hands on approach and are very much up for adding a twist to try and mix Enduro with MX, Crediton Raceway is a permanent MX track that is in a nature bowl which makes it great for spectators add a few scrub fields, a copse and some manmade obstacles like tyres, logs and a car to go over and you have Enduro Cross, format is 3 x 45 minute races and highest points scores over the 3 races is winner, and to make things even trickier all levels have to do the obstacles so no easy or chicken routes which all clubs should adopt if the obstacles/hazards are not extreme, a great entry despite clashing with two local MX events and plenty of rain to add the list of fun... or not as the case may be.

Championship Class
Charlie Frost made the 2 hour journey from Bristol very worthwhile with some outstanding skills and ability and really showed why he is one of the hottest prodigy’s in the sport right now with two race victories and a second place which was due to running off track and collecting track tape round his rear wheel which placed him last and what a great fight to get runners up spot from Jamie Paget who rode faultlessly and showed he still a big force in the Championship class but was riding very much under the weather, it looked like race two was going to be a head to head between him and Charlie but unfortunately Jamie withdrew due to illness, 2nd overall went to Phil Studley with 2 second places and a third place with conditions very much suiting the local Devonian, 3rd went to MX rider Ross Ian Blackmore with 2 third places and a fourth.

Expert Class
Consistency and posting a finish was key James Benney’s overall win with 2 second places and seemed equally at home whether on the MX track or the enduro going, runner up was local MX rider Michael Hayes with a second, third and a fifth and looked to me as each race became harder due to fitness levels, 3rd went to Liam Skelton with 2 third places and a fourth, Michael Harlow also won one race as did pre race favourite Paddy Twentyman and Toni Burrows but all posted a DNF in other races.

Veteran Experts Class
Cornishman Jack Twentyman took 3 race wins for overall class victory and was very much on fire today with his aggressive no nonsense style which very much suited the conditions and format and had a great battle in race one with Gary McCoy that provided some great action moments for the spectators, Gary finished the day with 3 second places, 3rd overall was Paul Armstrong .

Veteran Clubman Class
Simon Thomas is very much a man of half MX and half enduro and that was plain to see today with 3 race wins and an abundance of skills in both arenas and was very much the deserved winner today, runner up with 3 second places was Geoff Brigden who is on a roll at the moment and looked a bit more confident on the MX side than the enduro but as the event wore on his confidence had noticeably grown, likewise for 3rd placed Wayne Tipton who got better and faster as the races went on.

Clubman Class
Second biggest class of the day with mx ace Douglas Wynne taking 2 race wins and a third and proved he has good enduro skills to add to his mx arsenal, runner up for Cornish rider Kieran Roy with 2 second places and a fourth place and is very much a rider on the up and up, 3rd place went to Jacob Young who was consistent and solid all day with second, third and fourth but did look fatigued in the final race, also a race win for Ben Ridgers who unfortunately had two DNF’s in the other two races.

Sportsman Class
The biggest class of the day and some of the closest racing all day but the number one spot overall with 2 race wins and a second place was Nick Gulliver but only a short breath behind was Ben Langton with second, third and a mush deserved race win, 3rd to Hannah Clarke who was the only girl racing today and put in a resilient hard ride and very much earned her podium place.
