"It's Tough Enough!"
"This Saturday, 20th February, The haunting Nantmawr Quarry in Shropshire will host, for the last time at the World famous venue, The UK's original and most well known Extreme Enduro, The MICHELIN TOUGH ONE...
It is looking like being a sensational send off for the event with a sell out Rider list packed with the best riders you could ever wish to see and a bursting subscription of eager fans waiting to cheer on and encourage their heroes around the quarry with its manmade and natural challenges.
The UK's best ever Enduro Rider, David Knight is the TOUGH ONE and has won the event 6 times, he usually makes light work of the challenge but this year may be different as Sherco factory Rider and Redbull Starlet Wade Young (above) is confirmed to take part. Wade has just won the Super Tough Hells Gate Extreme in Italy last week to add to his 2 wins at the Roof of Africa, The Young South African must start as one of the favourites. Throw in the mix Paul Bolton, A stalwart of Extreme Enduro's around the World, The Hemingway Brothers on their shiny Beta's are no slouches and well versed in this type of international Extreme Enduro. Jonathon Richardson and Billy Bolt are making big noises elsewhere on the Extreme scene and will look to do well at the T1. MX star Ray Rowson will surely be a big watch as he tackles an extreme enduro for the first time ever, super skilled and super fast the flying Rowson may just turn a few heads. The Tough One always gets good support from Overseas too and the PRO class will have again another gaggle of riders from all over Europe joining the rest of the best Britain has to offer.
The Voice of the Tough One and indeed Motorcycling on the TV in general, Jack Burnicle will once again be the host and oversee the two races that will be taking place ...10 am till 12 noon is the Morning Sportsman and Over 40's riders challenge followed by the main event, 1.30pm for 2.5hrs on a packed and frenzied course, The Pro's , Experts and Clubman combined ...It will be some race we can tell you that.
Lots of old Tough One bits are present in the track, like the famous Root Of All Evil and the Boulder Dash, The Log Matt, The Scrap Cars, The Arctic Lorry Drop off to name a few, Mix this in with some new and natural gnarly sections that this tricky quarry can offer and you've got a fantastic recipe for a fantastic Extreme Enduro. There is even a nasty, steep, little final climb right by the podium for the top Pro riders to have to reach on completion of their last lap...One last cheering point for the fans as the winning riders try to crest the short but tricky climb and grab the £2000 prize money that waits for them at the top.
The Pre Paid deposit Car Tickets have all sold out, but do not fear as
you can still get to see the event on the day without tickets. Motorcyclists
can ride in and pay at the gate £15 p/p , Walk in Spectators can pay £20
p/p at the gate but must be aware they cannot just simply park in the
surrounding lanes by the quarry as the authorities will issue fines and
tickets, Walk in's are best getting dropped off.
NB...This is that last Tough One in it's current guise and venue. The venue, event format and lots more to with the famous Brand, Tough One, will see a completely new concept arrive later this year ..So this last one at Nantmawr really is a day in History."
