Dougie Lampkin Summer Trials School
Addingham Moorside, West Yorkshire

Dougie Lampkin was almost back in action last weekend, when he played his usual leading role at his annual Master Class - Summer Trials School held at the famous and scenic Addingham Moorside venue. Lampkin with his injured left wrist still in a cast was joined by James Dabill, Jack Challoner, Martin Lampkin, Harry Lampkin and Woody Hole, as these elite group of instructors offered three separate days of training starting on Friday morning.

Around twenty riders each day, of varying abilities and ages joined Dougie and his guest instructors for a packed programme of trials tuition that saw the participants enjoy over four hours of riding each day.

Fantastic weather and spectacular views down over Dougie's home town of Silsden created the perfect back drop for the eleventh edition of this unique event, with the first courses being held at the same venue back in 1999. The riders who had travelled from as far a field as Dubai and Cornwall were rewarded with a much welcomed barbeque lunch kindly provided by Red Bull on each of the three days of activity.

Dougie missed part of Friday morning's session to attend an appointment back at Airedale Hospital for a check up on the broken bone in his left wrist. An x-ray and examination by the doctor confirmed that the broken bone remains in line and should now heal without the need for an operation as first diagnosed on the day of the accident.

Lampkin attended a specialist clinic earlier this week where he underwent laser treatment in an attempt to speed up the healing process. Whilst no one can be sure at this moment, the current prognosis is that hopefully the injury will be sufficiently healed for Dougie to ride at the penultimate round of the 2009 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship in Spain during the first weekend of September. Dougie explained."The trials school was a great success once again, the weather certainly played its part, with plenty of smiling faces at the end of every day."

"Whilst I couldn't ride, the schools were a good distraction for me and have really helped to keep me motivated despite the injury obviously being a bit of a set back."

"If they had operated on my wrist, I would have been out for at least six weeks, which would have effectively ruled me out for the rest of the season. Hopefully by leaving it in the cast and with the laser treatment it now looks more than likely I will be able to ride again come early September even if it is with a light cast." Dougie ended.
