Dawn to Dusk Winners get new HOPE!

The 2008 Dawn to Dusk (D2D) overall winners Derek Little and Frazer Norrie are set to make a return to the South Wales event with a new sponsor for the new race format. Competing in the 24hr Pro, 2 Man class, the Scotsmen have attracted support from HOPE Technology Ltd in the form of top of the range lighting systems.

Having already overcome the arduous 12 Hr event, the duo has decided to up the ante by entering the 24hr Pro, 2 Man class. The 2009 Dusk to Dusk will be the first race either rider has entered involving night riding. As Derek described "The key to the 24Hr race will be the night segment. We've spent a long time perfecting a terrific light setup and are delighted to have gained sponsorship from HOPE Technology Ltd through our local dealer, Gravity Sports. The lights really are absolutely incredible. We're both really looking forward to the dark hours of the race".

"When we told Richard Cowie at Gravity Sports what we were doing, he was really keen to help us out" commented Derek. Richard suggested using two helmet mounted top of the range Vision LED4 lights. These compact lightweight units offer an incredible 960 lumens each on full power, with over 2 hours run time. "They really do turn night into day and are even more powerful than my van lights" said Frazer.

HOPE Technology Ltd are a well established UK company who provide top quality components to the mountain bike market, including night lights. Although the lights are designed to fit mountain bike handlebars, they are also supplied with a helmet mount, which Frazer and Derek will be using.

Derek added "My friends and I have used the HOPE LED4 lights for winter mountain bike night rides and they really are great. There's lots of Enduro riders out there who also dabble in mountain biking and the transition to using these for the motorbike was obvious. It shows how much light technology has come on in recent years. We're optimistic this will give us the edge over the competition".

The 2009 Dusk to Dusk will be held at the spectacular 4000 acre Walters Arena near Glyn-Neath, the event attracts more than 500 riders from all over Europe. The 24 hour riders will start at 19:00 on Saturday 29th August, with the 12 hour riders starting at 07:00 on Sunday. Lets hope the pair can do it again!
