Paul Bolton Scott Trial Challenge
On Saturday 24th October I will be the first person ever to attempt to complete the Scott Trial on an enduro bike. It has been described as the greatest test of man and machine, and that's on a machine made for the job! I will be riding 86 miles of off road (which should be the easy part) and 76 observed trials sections on my Eurotec Fat Cat MotoParc KTM 250 exc (pictured left on the Natterjack MX test). The historic event is based on time and observation and in past years there have been as few as 20 finishers. The reward is an immense sense of achievement and a prestigious Gold or Silver teaspoon for the top finishers! Riders are automatically out of contention if they fall one hour behind the first man back. This is what I anticipate to be my biggest challenge, seeing that I have to navigate my enduro bike through every one of the 76 notorious trial sections such as Tank Trap, Grand Canyon and Surrender! Why am I doing this? I am raising money for the North West Air Ambulance that saved the life of a close family friend. The Air Ambulance relies totally on public donations. It receives no central government funding or lottery funding, yet provides a service 7 days per week, 365 days a year. The importance of this service to on and off road bikers is vital, as many of you will realise. You can donate through my JustGiving website which is simple, fast and secure. So please dig deep and donate to help the North West Air Ambulance save more lives. http://www.justgiving.com/PaulBoltonScottTrialChallenge The trial starts from Richmond, Yorkshire and is run by the Richmond Motorcycle Club. They advise that anyone wishing to spectate should obtain a programme from the start, which shows the spectator route. Please keep to this route as the area is highly sensitive and it is only in agreement with the landowners that the event is able to run.
