Joakim Ljungoren to face the World's elite of Endurocross in Las Vegas

Right after doing the famous Novemberkåsan in his home country Joakim will be on his way to race the final round of the AMA EnduroCross series in Las Vegas. After Joakim's impressive performance in his first Indoor Enduro event at the IEWC opener in Sheffield, where he finished 6th overall, Husaberg and Joakim agreed that he should represent Husaberg in the highly prestigous final event of the 2009 AMA EnduroCross series in Las Vegas.

Joakim will fly to Los Angeles beginning of next week to set up his race bike for the event at Husaberg's North America headquarters in Murietta, CA. He has chosen to race the Husaberg FX 450 because he prefers the close ratio gearbox of this specific model in the technical EnduroCross terrain. Husaberg North America will not only be supporting Joakim in the bike setup process but also during the event in Las Vegas where he will be fighting for an overall top ten finish.

Though before Joakim can set his focus on the AMA Endurocross event there is the final race and at the same time the highlight of the Swedish offroad season coming up this weekend, the world famous Novemberkåsan.

This race is the oldest and toughest Enduro race in Sweden. The first Novemberkåsan was held in 1915 so this year's is the 84th edition and will start on Saturday morning at Falu Ski stadion near the town of Falun (in the middle of Sweden). It’s a tremendously tough race because the weather in November in Sweden is unpredictable and can be really harsh. This year it looks like its going to be rain and 2-3 degrees Celsius. The lap has a length of 104 km (65 miles) which includes 73 km (45 miles) of special tests. The riders will do one lap during the day and two laps at night for an overall distance of 312 km (195 miles)and 14 special tests.

On Saturday morning 9:00am they warm up for one lap of about 2-2,5 hours of special tests. Then around 5:00pm they start the "real race" in the dark for 2 laps and 5-6 hours of test times.

When the riders finish the race on Sunday morning around 2-3am they have been on the bike for 7-8 hours of special tests and probably double the time in total including road transport and service time.

Being the 2007 winner and the 2008 runner-up Joakim is clearly one of the favourites in the 2009 edition of the Novemberkåsan and will definately have no problem sleeping on the plane to the US after this torturous event.
