Dougie Lampkin has regretably had to
withdraw from the opening round of the 2010 ACU British
Solo Trial Championship to be staged at Harwood Dale,
Scarborough due to an ongoing problem with his left
ankle. Lampkin originally injured his ankle at the FIM
Indoor Enduro Cup event in Barcelona at the end of
January, but has continued to ride in various
competitions and other enagagements without having had
sufficient time to rest the joint in order for it to
have the chance to fully recover.

Less than a week after Barcelona, Dougie over came
incredible pain to win the Hell's Gate extreme enduro in
Italy before taking third place at the Tough One enduro
back in the UK a couple of week's later. The severe
nature of both of these competitions further complicated
the injury and prevented any kind of recovery. Still
with no time to rest Lampkin then recently flew to
Turkey to take part in a punishing four day schedule of
demonstrations on behalf of Red Bull at a massive
motorcycle exhibition held in Istanbul.

Dougie was back in the country for
less than twenty four hours before he then made the long
journey south to Winchester, where he was involved in a
hectic three days of filming as part of his preparations
for his return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed later
this year. Lampkin will once again play a starring role
both at the event in early July as well as in the new
promotional video that just could surpass the huge
success of the 2008 edition that was a massive global
hit via the power of Youtube.
A disappointed Lampkin explained.
"The last month or so has really taken its toll on
my ankle. After Barcelona I was told not to ride for a
month, but unfortunately my schedule has not allowed
that kind of break. I have kept riding although I knew
my ankle was not 100%, but ultimately I knew it was
going to catch up with me sooner or later."
"My main aim now is to be fit for the start of the
outdoor World trials championship in Spain in just over
a month. I want to be able to start the season fit, as
once it has begun there is no real time to deal with any
ongoing injuries. I am disappointed at not being able to
ride at Scarborough this weekend, as last year it was a
good trial. Hopefully with a bit of rest I will be fit
and ready for mid April when the outdoor series kick
off." Lampkin ended.
