SHEPPARD TAKES ANOTHER WIN IN SCOTLAND

Round 4 (Day 2) - 2010 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship
Fort William - Great Britain - 27/06/10

Jack Sheppard went one better on the second of the two days of competition at the Grand Prix of Great Britain, the fourth round of the 2010 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship. After his second place yesterday (Saturday), he took a convincing win over Pol Tarres to regain valuable championship points.

While Jack admitted on the first day to taking a few sections to get into the swing of the conditions, with two laps of the course in the foothills of Ben Nevis already under his belt, he was on form from the off.

The predicted rain arrived mid-morning and with it, slippier conditions on the group of sections run under tree cover at the bottom of the mountain. However, this didn't phase Jack, as he kept his cool and began building an advantage from the first section.

The higher sections were unaffected by the rain, since the stream already made the going wet and again, he maintained his composure to record a score for the first lap of just nineteen marks, one better than Tarres.

However, it was his second lap where he would clinch the win. With his confidence growing with every section, he recorded just eight marks, compared with Tarres’ twelve. This gave him a total of twenty seven marks, exactly half of his tally from yesterday and a clear demonstration of his ability to learn and his mastery of the Scottish sections.

Commenting after the finish, Jack said: "That was exactly what we were aiming for today. I started off a bit better than yesterday and just carried on. The second lap was pretty good - no mistakes, just a couple of slack dabs here and there and that was it. I'm very happy with the result."

"The first day helped a lot to prepare me for today. I learned a lot yesterday, as well as today and I'm learning all the time, especially on these kind of sections. They are very typical of this type of terrain and it's incredibly useful, as there is nothing like this near where we are based."

"I really needed to win today to have any chance for the championship and I've done that, so it's kept it alive. The damage was done yesterday so even with today's result, we've still got a fair way to catch up. I think if I can get a similar result on the next round, after some more practice, then I'll be very happy."

The next round of the championship takes Jack to France in two weeks' time, where he will be looking to repeat his performance and close in on Tarres' ten-point lead even further.
