FAJARDO
LOOKING FOR A STRONG CLOSE TO THE YEAR
Twenty five year old Jeroni Fajardo - Beta made his fourth
visit to the podium this season, when he finished third at the
French Grand Prix, this matched his performances at the
opening round in Spain and on the second day of the Japanese
event. Fajardo currently sits fifth in the general standings
and just five points off Albert Cabestany - Sherco in fourth
ahead of this weekend's GP in San Marino, which will mark
round six of the 2010 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship.
Having finished fourth in
last year's series, many expected Jeroni to be amongst the
front runners this season, but in truth the Beta teamster has
yet to produce the results to match his obvious talent. After
Fajardo's maiden Grand Prix win in Andorra towards the end of
his 2009 campaign and strong results at the closing two
rounds, it appeared that he was now ready to make the
transition to be at the sharp end of the action on a regular
basis in 2010.
A third spot at his home GP,
that opened this season's SPEA FIM Trial World Championship
seemed to confirm Jeroni's coming of age especially after some
good showings during the Indoor series. However poor results
in Portugal and Great Britain somewhat offset the 2 -3 finish
he recorded in Japan. With just three rounds now remaining,
and two of those taking place over the next two weekends,
Jeroni knows he must be consistently good if he is to at least
regain his number four plate.
Fajardo offered his view.
"I have great motivation for the next rounds, and that
has started well in France and is something I need to continue
in San Marino and Italy. It is good to be back on the podium
again, as it was terrible in Fort William as I was feeling
sick and weak."
"I will attack very
strongly the next two rounds as they will be important for me.
For Beta they are also very important as it is like two home
GPs for them, so I really want to do my best. I don't want to
think too much about this situation, as it could bring extra
pressure, but instead I like to think about each section, one
at a time and how I can clean them."
"My objective at the
start of the season was clear, it was to be in the top three,
but that is now going to be very difficult after my poor
results in Portugal and Great Britain. Anyway you never know
what can happen, so now I am trying to catch Albert and take
fourth place, after that I can then see what can be
possible."
"Being on the podium in
San Marino is my main focus at the moment."
