Graham Jarvis wins Extreme Lagares
First race, first victory! Graham Jarvis
dominated the Extreme Enduro race in Portugal aboard his Husaberg TE 300.
Only one month after Graham first started riding his new
bike, the Husaberg TE 300, it was time for him to find out how he can perform
under race conditions on his new machine.
Upon arrival in Portugal the team was a bit worried first because, although
called "Extreme", the track and especially the prologue looked a bit
too "easy" and fast for Graham to shine with his technical skills.
Came race day all worries where blown away immediately as Graham showed some incredible
speed in the prologue finishing second to EWC regular and multi-time
Portuguese Enduro champion Goncalo Reis and in front of Chris Birch and
Xavi Galindo, who also did his first race aboard the Husaberg TE 300 after
being sidelined due to injury for several months.
I n
the main race the riders had to complete two laps of 20 kilometers each
including some really technical terrain like river beds in the beginning and
more easy flowing trails in the second half. Each lap featured 3 checkpoints
and Graham already was in the lead at CP 1 by 10 minutes in front of Chris
Birch. He kept his advantage throughout the first lap and managed to extend
his lead dramatically going into the more technical sections in lap 2 to more
than 40 minutes. Going towards the finish of lap 2 he even took his time to
stop and help some amateur riders, who were still in their first lap. A true
british gentleman.
In the end Graham finished the two laps in a time of just under 3 hours and by
a winning margin of 33 minutes over 2010 Red Bull Romaniacs winner Chris
Birch.
"It was a great race for me. I was rellay curious myself how it's going
to be racing my new bike, and it was awesome. The bike is strong, light and so
easy to ride. I felt really comfortable on it." Graham commented after
the race.
After his impressive performance Graham and his team are already on
the way back to Italy for some more intensive training for the upcoming
Indoor Enduro World Cup, kicking off on November 27th in Genoa,
Italy.
