MRS SHERCO RIDER WINS OUR FIRST ENDURO EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
The final round of the Enduro European Championship took place last week, 6th and 7th September at Heinola in Finland and MRS claimed their first European victory with young Jed Etchells winning the Junior E2-3 title for best under 21 rider. Jed finished off in style on his 3.0 SE 2T Factory Sherco, taking the win on the first day by almost two minutes which gave him the title with a day to ride still. He thus follows in the footsteps of his British compatriots Steve Holcolme and Brad Freeman, who were also successful in the European Championship.
The next outing for Jed will be the final round of the British Enduro Championship, run by the British Army which takes place near Aldershot in Hampshire on the weekend of 5th- 6th October. Jack Edmondson, riding his 3.0 SEF 4T Factory bike is lying second and Dan Mundell, riding his 2.5 SEf 4T is lying fourth. Unfortunately Dan's position in both the BEC and the Sprint Championship does not show his true potential as he had to miss an early round in both series due to a hand injury.
Jed Etchells is holding a fine sixth overall position and barring disaster he should be well capable of holding this position to the end. In the Expert Class MRS rider Aaron Gordon is leading the standings on his 3.0 4T SEF 4T Sherco and new signing, 16 year old Alfie Webb, riding his 125 Sherco, under the Marsh MX/MRS banner is gaining valuable experience for next year. We feel Alfie has a good future in the sport and are very pleased to have him on board a Sherco for the foreseeable future.
Jed Etchells - "I'm really happy with my riding this weekend, I managed to become European Champion J2/3 and 2nd outright. The final round of the series was definitely a memorable one. The whole weekend was very tiring and technical, especially enduro test 1 which was pretty much extreme for 8 minutes, it suited me on Friday allowing me to win outright by 14 seconds.
I managed to get second overall on Saturday in the dryer conditions which meant I was on joint points going into Sunday for the MX race. I definitely enjoyed the MX race after having technical enduros for two days, I managed to get second. I was first overall in my class and second outright over the weekend. Thanks to all my sponsors for making it possible."
