Over 40s John Shirt wins Pinetrees
PHOTO DOC WARD
WOR Events put on the 2nd edition of the Pinetrees Enduro last weekend at the Bala Forest.
It was a smashing 10 mile lap that turned out to be very challenging with the horrible weather and the January timing but still the massive entry enjoyed the brilliant track layout from Steve Ireland and his team and also the friendly and welcoming vibe of the stress free, no experts format, that these new event formats form WOR offer.
No Timecard to worry about but still got to get round in time...The difficulty of the track in places under the heavy rain was a shame but as the event had been planned on easier terrain than what the forest could offer, it ended up being a challenge most folk enjoyed, especially the ones that battled it properly and looked back from the comfort of the hot bath on Sunday night with rose coloured spectacles at how good they where, finishing the event in style.
Top man Overall was Enduro Veteran and stalwart of the Sport, GasGas Uk man, John Shirt. Shirty winning the event from the Over 40's group, followed home by Ryan Heinz (great to see Ryan back at WOR!!) and an onfire, Anthony Foulkes in 3rd place.
John said "Great ‘forest fun’ yesterday at @steworenduro WOR events ‘timecardless’ Enduro. A very sensible course with no forest bottlenecks was planned by Steve and his crew. No part of the course was cut out, only a small niggly bit in the special test was cut but we still had a 5 minute test timed 4 times. Good experience from the WOR events crew because the weather this time of year makes any event tough and borderline extreme. Too many organisers lose insight on rider abilities and try and kill the clubmen off just to keep a few Experts happy. Fair play to WOR events..."
Jac George was Runner Up overall and 1st in Clubman as he put in a superb ride. Runner Up Clubman was Sion Elfid with Gayan Brooks taking a very near 3rd spot. Only 4 seconds separating 2md from 3rd.
Phil George was flying as expected in the Over 50's as he blaste dto the win from Mark Dean and Kev Humphreys. Great to see both Mark and Kev back racing.. They both used to be strong Clubman and over 40 riders back in the noughties with WOR.
Riley Canterbury was in top form as he smashed the Sportsman group. Riley enjoying his ride and beating Strong performances from Mark Turkington and Chris Kent in 2nd and 3rd spot respectively.
Lewis Hurdsman blasted his 125 Yam to top of the Youths from Charlie Crossland.
Chris Guest won the Novice from James Shallicker and Alex Lamb.
Although a wet and dull day, the smiles of hundred plus riders was enough to keep the clouds at bay..
The concept of the Timecardless Enduro has been embraced at WOR .. and there will be a few more of these this coming year, running on the the big 12-14 mile lap at Clatter, in much better weather (WOR HOPES!!)
WOR and Steve would like to send, as always, a massive thanks out to all the land owners, staff, medics, caterers, sponsors and supporters that make the events possible and the final and biggest thanks goes to the riders for supporting and entering the events because without them..It would not be possible.
All things WOR can be found on the WOR social media pages or the website.. Contact 07803698061 to Steve Ireland direct if you have any questions on the upcoming year ahead of superb enduro events."
