Luison and Terranova winners in the Italian Cup

The first celebrations for the Italian IMF Cup / Italian Cup Maxxis Ufo Plast took place on Saturday 31 October,.

To winner of the national title was the Sherco rider Matteo Cavallo who won the 450 class, a category that was gifted this weekend by one of its main protagonists and direct opponent of Cavallo, Alex Salvini, who announced his forfeit on the eve of the stage Ligurian because of shoulder problems.

Called to administer his advantage on this seventh day, Matteo Cavallo is not content with managing the race but wins day 1 of the Arma di Taggia test with over a minute ahead of his rivals Manuel Monni (Husqvarna Osellini) and Alessandro Battig (Honda Specia).

Matteo Luison (KTM) and Raissa Terranova (Beta SGS Racing) also put their signature to the 2020 championship, conquering the Senior and Lady categories in the Italian Cup. In Senior Luison takes the championship by finishing in second place today behind Matteo Manenti (Gas Gas) with Damir Mujanovic (Beta) third. Absent instead Raissa Terranova who conquers the Lady mathematically. In Liguria two representatives of the gentilesso took the field, Stephanie Bianchi (Beta), winner today, and Giulia Melichetti (Yamaha), second.

Returning to the Italian Championship Maxxis Ufo Plast, the day was really intense with all the strongest riders protagonists of the top of the overall standings.

The race starts in the sign of Brad Freeman (Beta) who, however, feels his opponents with breath on his neck. After the first lap the Brittanico leads the race, but behind him the special guest of the event, Josep Garcia (KTM), is only 95 cents behind. In third position the blue Andrea Verona (TM) who, however, fails to conquer the podium due to too many errors that cost him precious seconds.

Special after special Freeman increases his advantage over all opponents, starting from Garcia. The Spaniard is not very comfortable in the Extreme Test and in fact, after a great start, he falls back to fifth position. In the meantime, Steve Holcombe advances, getting closer and closer to the top of the standings, then finishing in second place with 19 seconds behind his teammate Freeman. The third position goes to Thomas Oldrati (Honda Redmoto), also protagonist of a good recovery. In addition to giving us a good overall performance, Oldrati, together with Verona, were the authors of a beautiful duel in the 250 4t class, a duel that ended in favor of the Honda rider for just 4 seconds.

All the current championship leaders have been confirmed in the various classes. In the 125 2T Tommaso Montanari (KTM TNT Corse) wins ahead of Giuliano Mancuso (Fantic d'Arpa) and his teammate Lorenzo Bernini; in the 250 2t home rider Davide Soreca wins the category ahead of Deny Philippaerts, both on Beta of Team Boano, and Maurizio Micheluz (Husqvarna Osellini).

In 300 the day went to Davide Guarneri (TM E50), winner of Gianluca Martini (Beta) and Rudy Moroni (KTM Proracingsport). Thanks to third place, Moroni still manages to keep the championship in his category open.

In the Junior Lorenzo Macoritto (Beta Boano) stretches in the points classification by conquering the first position of the day in front of his teammate and direct opponent for the title Matteo Pavoni. Lowest step of the podium for Enrico Zilli (Honda).

In Youth Claudio Spanu (Husqvarna Osellini) is confirmed as he collects his sixth season success. The Sardinian driver wins day 1 ahead of Riccardo Fabris (Fantic JET) and Simone Cristini (KTM).

In the FMI 2T Cup, Daniele Delbono (KTM) makes his first day of competition his own, putting Michael Pogna (Sherco) behind him. The two will play the championship tomorrow as there are only two points of difference between them. Subtle gap also in the FMI 4T Cup where we find Francesco Tengattini (KTM Proracingsport) and Patrick Grigis (KTM) separated by only three points; the two were also the protagonists of the day with Grigis winning over Tengattini for 53 seconds.

Plunging back into the Italian Cup, in the Cadets the highest step of the podium for Davide Pitzoi (Sherco) followed by Federico Magri (Beta) and Luca Rondini (KTM). The Junior was won by Andrea Manarin (TM), followed by Cristian Cervetto and Diego Patelli, both on KTM. Exciting head and head in Major between Simone Fiaccadori (KTM) and Agostino Volpi (Honda) with Fiaccadori who, thanks to today's victory, also grabs the first position in the championship for a point over Volpi.

In the teams, a tie today between the Motoclub Sebino and the GS Fiamme Oro; both score 57 points. In the Independent Teams, Osellini Husqvarna won the race, first ahead of Diligenti Racing.

Unchallenged dominance for Brad Freeman also in the Airoh Cross Test Trophy and in the X-CUP Motocross Marketing - Galfer; the Beta driver sets the best time in both classifications. Victory for Riccardo Fabris instead in the Eleveit Trophy; the Venetian wins in front of Simone Cristini and Lorenzo Bernini.

The 2020 season of the Absolutes of Italy has ended.

The curtain has officially fallen on this troubled season of the Italian Enduro Championship - IMF Cup / Italian Cup Maxxis Ufo Plast of Enduro which saw the final act come to life in Arma di Taggia, in the province of Imperia.

It was once again a weekend full of battle with the Italian drivers who animated the special stages and the top of the standings to the sound of gas. After an exciting Saturday and the first title of the season won by Matteo Cavallo in 450, the eyes today were all focused on the Absolute and on the other classes.

To contend for the title of the general Steve Holcombe (Beta) and Thomas Oldrati (Honda Redmoto) who, after yesterday's race, were 9 points behind. Today's test saw Oldrati protagonist of the top of the general, while Holcombe tried to administer his advantage by not risking too much also in view of the next world events.

As mentioned Thomas Oldrati was the protagonist of the overall ranking, fighting all day with Brad Freeman. The two competed for the top of the standings to the sound of cents with the victory after battling in nine special stages to Brad Freeman who officially puts his signature on the Ligurian stage. Oldrati finished in second place, separated by 5 seconds from the British, while the third position was conquered by Josep Garcia on KTM.

Andrea Verona and Daniel McCanney complete the top five, respectively on TM and Honda Redmoto.

The race, masterfully directed by the Sanremo Motoclub which, despite the many difficulties of the moment, managed to organize an event in total safety for all the participants and for the citizens, was decisive for the assignment of national titles.

In the awaited general classification, the scepter of best driver of the 2020 season went to Steve Holcombe, winner by only two points over the blue Thomas Oldrati and six over his compatriot Brad Freeman.

Holcombe, in addition to the IMF gold medal, won the 24mx Champion table and the Mika Ahola Trophy, which returns to his hands after two years.

In 125 Tommaso Montanari (KTM TNT Corse) wins the race and the championship by winning over Giuliano Mancuso (Fantic D'Arpa), his direct opponent, and Lorenzo Bernini (KTM TNT Corse). With seven victories over eight days of racing, Davide Soreca (Beta Boano) wins the 250 2-stroke title, celebrating the victory with a splendid first position in the home race. Behind him in the championship teammate Deny Philippaerts, while the third place went to Maurizio Micheluz (Husqvarna Osellini).

Davide Guarneri (TM E50) puts his signature on the tricolor of the 300 class by conquering the first position in front of Rudy Moroni (KTM Proracingsport) and Gianluca Martini (Beta). The three set the Ligurian specials on fire and finished in the ranking of the day grouped in just three seconds!

In the 250 4t the Oldrati-Verona duel for the conquest of the national title went to the Honda rider Redmoto from Bergamo who beats the TM Veneto behind today by eight seconds. The third place of the day went to Michele Musso (Sherco) while in the championship the bronze medal goes to Patrick Grigis (KTM).

In 450, a chain problem relegated the new Italian champion Matteo Cavallo (Sherco) to fifth place; the first position was conquered by Manuel Monni (Husqvarna Osellini) who could not celebrate his farewell to racing better! In fact, that of Arma di Taggia was the last official race for the pilot of the Fiamme Oro who hung up his helmet.

Full battle at Beta Boano for the conquest of the Junior title with Lorenzo Macoritto and Matteo Pavoni competing for the championship. Despite the victory of the day for Pavoni, obtained by trimming 17 seconds to his teammate, the first position in the general went to Macoritto who became the 2020 Italian champion. Third place went to Enrico Zilli on Honda.

Despite the zero recorded on day 2 in Carsoli, Claudio Spanu wins the Youth, the category reserved for young people riding the 125 2t.

The Sardinian rider of the Husqvarna Osellini team wins the Italian flag in front of Riccardo Fabris and Matteo Grigis, respectively on Fantic of the JET Racing Team and on KTM of the Sebino motorcycle club.

And it is precisely the Brescia club that gets the gold medal around its neck as the best team of the Italian Absolutes 2020. The motorcycle club led by Costante Bontempi wins the championship in front of the GS Fiamme Oro Milano and the Motoclub Lago d'Iseo. Among the Independent Teams, the Husqvarna Osellini Team takes the final classification, first on the Diligenti Racing Team and on the Fantic JET Racing Team.

The battles in the IMF Cup with all the protagonists separated by very few points in the championship general were no less. In 2t only one point (and only one second in the race!) Divided the two contenders, Daniele Delbono (KTM) and Michael Pogna (Sherco). The final podium saw Delbono on the top step, followed by Pogna himself and Nicoḷ Paolucci (KTM).

In 4t the gold medal as best rider of the season went to Francesco Tengattini (KTM Proracingsport), first classified in front of Patrick Grigis (KTM) and Alberto Besagno (Husqvarna). The day saw Tengattini and Grigis take the first two positions on the podium and the third place went to Davide Dall'Ava (KTM).

In the Italian Cup, the Cadets, Junior and Major categories were missing.

Davide Pitzoi (Sherco) wins the Cadet class thanks to the 126 points gained over the eight races. Behind Pitzoi end Nicoḷ Lolli (KTM) and Federico Magri (Beta). In Junior he climbs on the top step of the podium of the general of the tricolor Andrea Manarin (TM), first in front of Cristian Cervetto (KTM) and Diego Patelli (KTM). In Major Simone Fiaccadori (KTM) wins the championship thanks to a splendid double in Liguria. Behind Fiaccadori I conclude, both in the race and in the Italian flag, Agostino Volpi (Honda) and Eros Bordoli (KTM).

Arma di Taggia was also decisive for the assignment of the 2020 Trophies!

With an amazing performance, Thomas Oldrati manages on the last day to secure the first position of the X-CUP Motocross Marketing-Galfer, snatching the victory from Steve Holcombe, in command until yesterday. Oldrati confirms himself as the extreme man and wins the title of best rider for the second consecutive year.

To conquer the classification of the Airoh Cross Test Trophy, taking home a beautiful Airoh Helmet, is the British Joe Wootton who in Arma di Taggia. The first edition of the Eleveit Trophy, the trophy reserved for young riders of the Italian Absolutes, has also ended. Riccardo Fabris becomes Eleveit official driver for the 2021 season!

All the riders, motoclubs and teams protagonists of the season were officially awarded today with the award ceremony of the Italian Enduro Champions, broadcast in live streaming on the Italian Enduro social channels Facebook and Youtube.

The ceremony was attended by Giulio Romei, president of Co.Re. Liguria, Nico Bignami, president of the FMI Jury and Marcella Consonni, delegate of the race commissioners. On the other hand, various local authorities took part in the awards ceremony of the day, including the mayor of Taggia Mario Conio and the councilor for tourism, transport and work of the Liguria Region Gianni Berrino.

The lights on the Absolute Italian Championship-IMF Cup / Italian Cup Maxxis Ufo Plast 2020 are out, we are now awaiting the epilogue of the Major flag with the last stage scheduled for November 22 in Rapolano Terme (SI).
