Owian Humphreys wins CTR EVENTS Winter Series Championship Round 6 At Aberbeeg East South Wales.

Team CTR spent over a week plotting out a cross country hare & hounds Enduro race course that could be raced in all weathers with the start on the very top of this beautiful Welsh mountain starting on the MX track, Dropping into some big ditches before setting off with some high speed fire roads looping back around into some dark evergreen fir trees joining back onto the back end of the MX track to the lap scoring.

On a very cold February Welsh winters morning with some 100+ keen off road racers set up on the start line and with a big crowd of helpers and spectators all patiently waiting for the start, CTR had a surprise already set up with Digger 449 films. So at 10:45 and after a safety briefing the stage was ready and everyone was involved the CTR Harlem Shake great laugh and a perfect warm up before the flag gets dropped.

First away the Experts with TM 250 mounted Gethin Francombe grabbing the holeshot and as they disappeared in a cloud of dust Francombe dropped it in the 1st ditch crossing and TM 125 mounted Josh Gotts appeared back into view and across the 2nd ditch crossing and out of sight in the lead, Next let lose was the Vets Expert and Vets Clubman with Carl Davies taking the holeshot over the double jumps and with the pack hot on his tail, As the clubman class racers were set off Andrew Powell got the holeshot closely persuade buy the rest of the pack, Last set lose was the big class of Novice-Beginners with little Joe Newman claiming the holeshot hunted by the big pack of race hungry racers CTR regular holster Brad BW Copeland was last away.

At the start line and lap scoring everyone was waiting to see who would appear 1st and we were all treated to the beautiful sound of a TM 125 2 stroke on the pipe with Cornish rider Josh Gotts putting on a great display of Enduro race attack mode crossing the lap scoring in a time of 14:10, Next into sight was Big boi Derry Milling crossing the line 19 seconds behind Gotts, Next through lap scoring Owain Humphreys his time through was 14:47, 1st none Expert in was Vets Expert Carl Davies on 16.08 with Ryan Leary through with 16:34 next was Sam Jones on 16:45, 1st Clubman around with a super-fast lap Tim Saunders some 90seconds in front of next rider and 2nd clubman to round this 10k Enduro course was little young Jordan Rusty-Ridgeway with Mark FBW Copeland just 3 seconds behind, 1st Vets Clubman racer around was Rhys Jones on 19:15 with Mike Crumb just 5 seconds behind and Richard Holland 2 seconds behind him, 1st Novice-Beginner through was David Scarf on 22:34 with Richard Powell next in on 22:38 and Gareth KFP Wilcox 3rd around on 22.40.

As the days progressed in very tough conditions due to the heavy cold weather and slippery ground and on the 2nd lap it was still Josh Gotts but Owain Humphreys had taken 2nd with Milling still there in 3rd,Carl Davies still lead the Vets Experts with Sam Jones now into 2nd and now 3rd, Vets Clubman was now lead by Mike Crumb with Richard Holland in 2nd and Rhys Jones now in 3rd, The Clubman was still lead by Tim Saunders with 2nd place now gone to Mark Copeland and now in 3rd Justin Mitchell, Novice-Beginner class was now lead buy Gareth Wilcox with Mathew Jones 2nd and Richard Powell 3rd.

Lap 3 Owain Humphreys had the lead with Gotts still 2nd hunted by big Derry Milling with Milling taking 2nd on the 5th lap with little TM 125 mounted Gotts now 3rd and that’s the way it would stay to the finish great riding boi’s, The Vets Expert battle between Carl Davies, Sam Jones, Ryan Leary was settled on lap 7 when Jones pasted both Leary and Davies to take the lead, Dan Bishop had pulled out on 1 hour 45, And Dave Wolfe had a dab on lap 5 and broke his ankle, with the result seemed to be settled and in the bag for Jones with Jones trying to wheelie on the finish line in the polished very grass Davies closed right up and they crossed the line for a photo finish with Jones taking the win over Davies and Leary 3rd, The Vets Clubman result went to Mike Crumb with Richard Holland grabbing 2nd from 3rd placed Rhys Jones, The Clubman class was won by Tim Saunders on 9 laps 2nd was Mark Copeland 8 laps and 3rd Tom Davies 8laps, Novice-Beginners was won by Richard Powell 7 laps 2nd Mathew Jones 7 laps 3rd Nathan Newman 7 laps.

Matt Ridgeway Wins a Tough CTR EVENTS WSC5 At the awesome Baskerville Hall.

We finally got it off the ground after weeks of race track preparation and fighting the extreme weather conditions thinking and hoping 2013 was going to be kinder, The whole of the country had a week to remember with a great big blanket of snow, But team CTR kept up the fit and final on 27th January 2013 at 11 o’clock with some 100 or so hungry dirt bike racers bursting to get racing in the new year all sat patiently on the start line, And after a briefing with CTR and with the winter sun shining on this beautiful part of wales the race flag was dropped to let loose.

First away the pack of Experts with Matt Ridgeway grabbing the holeshot from Gethin Francombe TM 250, Richard Perkins and the rest of the pack, Next away with the Vet Experts and the Vets with Ryan Leary just beating Sam Jones to the holeshot, Next let loose on this tough 5 mile cross country CTR race track was the clubman class with Chris Morris taking the holeshot with the pack of hungry clubman snapping at his heals, Last but not least to be released were the biggest pack of novice-beginners and with Brad Copeland grabbing the holeshot the rest of the group were all dancing their way through the woods around the trees over the slippery mud of into the distance to commence battle with the course.

Back at lap scoring and just over 11 minutes in we were all anxiously waiting to see who would appear out of the woods 1st and it was Matt Ridgeway with a lead of 25 seconds over Gethin Francombe with Richard Perkins another 13 seconds later closely followed by the rest or the pack with Harvey Dark and Derek Bawn a few place back and leaving their selves some work to do, The 1st of the none expert class around was Vets Expert Sam Jones and Ryan Leary with 1st of the clubman around Rhys Perkins then the 1st Vets class rider through was 1 of my MX blasts from the past Mr 500cc Andy Watkins splitting the Vet experts with Adrian Evans close behind, The 1st Novice class around and through lap scoring was young Brad Copeland with a flier of a lap over 3 minutes in front of the closest Novice class rider Steve Price and Brad you was 12 seconds in front of your Dad lol.

As the race progressed and with the CTR marshals working really hard to keep the course and race running well done and thanks boys the riders do appreciate you really, And with the top 3 spots up for grabs things were taking shape.

The Expert class Mat Ridgeway was commanding the lead Derek Bawn had moved into 2nd and pushing really hard getting to within 1 minute 10 seconds of Ridgeway but as Ridgeway got the news from the pits he put in a few hard charging fast laps, With Derek Bawn having 2nd spot very much in control and both Matt Ridgeway and Derek Bawn on the same lap finishing was a very impressive 13laps, 3rd was down to Harvey Dark, Richard Perkins and James Paczynski all on 12 laps but Harvey Dark was riding very well and managed 3rd place very well and that’s how it finished.

The Vets Expert race was between Sam Jones, Ryan Leary, Adrian Evans and Dave Wolfe with Jones leading from the start and really commanding his lead all through the race taking the win with 10 laps, With Leary having an off day with crashes and getting stuck everywhere he dropped out of contention, But with Evans and Wolfe still going strong and can you believe it the big bad Wolfe hunted Evans down on the last lap and over took him to take 2nd both on 9 laps.

The Vets class top spots was between Richard Holland, Phillip George, Andy Watkins and Rhys Jones Holland and George put in an extra spurt to get away from Watkins and Jones with Holland and George taking 1st and 2nd with 9 laps, Watkins was on for 3rd with 8 laps but somehow never crossed the line to take the finish granting 3rd to Rhys Jones on 8 laps.

The Clubman class battle was between Dan Newman, Mark Copeland, Rhys Perkins and Craig Thomas, With Newman taking Perkins on the 2nd lap he started to pull away giving his self a nice gap to control his 1st place win on 10 laps, With 2nd spot was between Perkins, Copeland and Thomas Mark Copeland was able to take 2nd on lap 7, With 3rd spot now down to Perkins with Perkins pushing hard he was able to get away from Thomas, So with Perkins taking 3rd spot also still on 10 laps.

The Novice class was led from start to finish with a great ride from Brad Copeland taking a well-deserved 1st place I’m sure we will see more this year well done Brad winning his class on 8 laps, 2nd spot went to Steve Price on 7 laps with 3rd going to Lee Pontin also with 7 laps well done lads.

Jamie Lewis wins
CTR EVENTS

WSC4 2012 in Caerphilly south Wales. Report by CT

Jamie Lewis came he rode he dominated CTR Events Winter Series Championship round 4 on his new HM Moto 450 in extreme weather conditions at Caerphilly East South Wales, After a mixed week of hare & hounds cross country Enduro race track building the weather once again played its part with freezing cold frost covered ground then incredulous wind and rain Friday with showers Saturday and very heavy rain over night however by 8am Sunday the rain seamed to stop and the sun was trying to poke through for the start at 11am. CTR pulled it off again and designed a great 5 mile Enduro race track that would be able to cope with the winter weather conditions with a mix of soft forestry peaty going with stumps, roots, off cambered grass banks, fast road blasts, hill descents and climbs,

At 10:45 all riders and their bikes were lined up on the start line and after a short chat with CTR the flag dropped to release the pack of Experts with Shaun Buchan grabbing the holeshot just in front of Mick Rees and Gethin Francombe with the rest of the pack hot on his tail except Jamie Lewis last but one away once he fired up his stead he again got tangled up on the first corner and as they disappeared over the brow poor Jonny Rodderidge couldn't start his bike and had to change the plug, Next away the full pack of gentlemen the Veteran class with Gary Newman grabbing the holeshot from Ryan Leary and Rhys Jones with all the class away next let loose was the clubman and has all hell broke the holeshot went to Jordan Ridgeway with Nicky Jones just behind as the pack skidded into each other fighting for control Alex Van Dyke gets knock off and had to gather his self before getting away, With the last group to get away and Rodderidge now on his way it was the turn of the big group of novice-beginners to be let loose with George Saunders taking the holeshot just in front of Neil Pip Price with the who pack of hungry hounds snapping at their tails.

At the lap scoring with everyone waiting to see who would appear first and with the sound of a big 4t engine coming into sight it was HM Moto of Jamie Lewis with a first lap time of 10:40 in the lead 1 minutes 15 seconds in front of TM rider Gethin Francombe with Mick Rees Garin Rosser and the pack of experts coming through in concession James Paczynski and Derek Bawn had some work to do as they were 7th and 8th around lap one, First none expert around was clubman racer Rhys Perkins followed by vets expert Gary Newman and Ryan Leary with vet rider Rhys Jones and clubman Mark Copeland and Aaron Martin, First novice around was MC's son Brad Copeland with a 1 minute 32 second lead on Nathan Newman, So as the rest of the CTR racers lapped lap two was still Lewis with Paczynski now up to second the third spot was still a battle with now Derry Milling, Francombe, Derek Bawn, Mick Rees, Phil Studley, Richard Perkins and co, Gary Newman now moved up to be the first none expert lapping with clubman Rhys Perkins vet expert Leary and clubman Mark Copeland, With Nathan Newman now in front of Brad Copeland in the novice class battle and Michael Gray still a few places behind with Lee Pontin even further behind.

With the rain still staying away and the course starting to both cut up and take shape with also a few changes to the race track the top three in each class started to form with the overall and the expert battle being commanded by Lewis second was left to Paczynski he seemed to be in control with the battle for third hotting up between Richard Perkins and Derek Bawn with Bawn taking third on lap 8, The vet expert battle was between Gary Newman who seemed to have pulled away to get the extra lap on the rest of the pack with 11 laps leaving Leary to battle with Adrian Evans and Carl Davies with Evans eventually taking third all on 10 laps, The clubman top spots were between Mark Copeland, Rhys Perkins and Aaron Martin with Copeland taking Perkins on lap 9 finishing with all top three on 11 laps with Copeland 1 minutes 13 in front of Perkins he was just 7 seconds in front of Martin, The novice class again dominated by Nathan Newman winning the class with 9 laps with Michael Gray second on 7 laps and Lee Pontin third also with 7 laps, I need to mention a great ride by ever improving rider Neil Pippy Price with forth well done Pip.

A very well done to all riders who turned up and rode this awesome event that was hard going, Thanks to all riders helpers all CTR helpers and Marshals, Big thanks to the land owner who is a top bloke, the medical team caterers my Dad, Carla and Kerry, And Pete and Matt had days work for all but it was a great day we got an event running its been a great 2012 next event WSC5 20.01.2013 see you all there Merry Christmas and Happy New Year CTR.

Phil Studley Wins
An Awesome Battle at CTR Events WSC3 in Sunny Wales.

Phil Studley H2O Yamaha made the trip up from Cornwall to win CTR's Awesome WSC3 Battle on a cold sunny November morning in Brecon Powys Wales, CTR and the team made a great little Cross Country Enduro race track of 3.5 miles that started just to the side of the fantastic Battle MX practise track with over a hundred riders line up and waiting to start and after a short briefing was CTR the flag dropped and released the pack of Expert riders with Gethin Francombe grabbing the holeshot closely chased by his bro, Studley, Mick Rees and the rest of the pack with CTR regular hard charging Derek Bawn left on the line and last away with the coast all clear and 30 seconds later the Vets were let loose with Ryan Leary again grabbing the holeshot with all the group of mature gentle men tussling along behind, Next to be let loose out of the traps was the clubman class and as CTR dropped the flag it was little Jordan Rusty Ridgeway set off like a whippet and leading the big group of hungry hounds chasing hard behind him, The last group let loose was the biggest group of Novice-Beginners with Paul Reid grabbing the holeshot from Brad Copeland.

As all the bikes and riders disappeared out of sight to negotiate the XC course and as everyone waited to see who would be first around and leading the race it was an awesome atmosphere in the pits, lap scoring area and with the great sound of revving 2 strokes now in the distance and popping over the hill first it was Mick Rees very closely chased by Gethin Francombe, Tommy Francombe, Phil Studley and James Paczynski with all the pack of Experts still close behind, As CTR and his quad was helping to start a Novice riders bike and with Rees and G Francombe chasing each other right in front of me on the MX track on a right hander Rees dropped it Francombe hit him shouted and pulled around him to take the lead.

The first none Expert around the lap was Vets Expert rider Sam Jones with Leary right behind him, Alex James was first Vet class rider through with Rhys Jones a few bikes later and class winner Richard Holland 8 bikes behind, First clubman through was Aaron Martin, Paul Clarke, Class winner Jonny Rodderick chasing the pack close behind, The first Novice-beginner racer through lap scoring was Graham Owens with eventual class winner Nathan Newman next through.

As the day progressed and with the race track now showing signs of drying up the Expert class was being lead by Gethin Francombe and with only 1 hour of the race gone Gethin Francombe rear mousse packed in on the far end of the MX track and he was forced to retire from the race with bro Tommy pulling out also with a broken rear tyre GF handed the lead battle between Studley, Paczynski and Derek Bawn and with race nearing the end the top 3 was Studley, Bawn, Paczynski. The vets expert battle was won by Ryan Leary with Dave Wolfe nursing his bike over the line also with a broken rear tyre, Sam Jones had a well deserved 3rd after stopping and pinching a bottle of lucozade of CTR desperately needing a sugar boost, the vets class was won by Richard Holland 2nd went to Rhys Jones 3rd was Mike Crumb great result Mike because I was with an injured rider for over 30 minutes and after 20 or so minutes CTR told you and Liz Childley to carry on with your race after we knew Richard was OK, The clubman class win went to CTR new comer Jonny Rodderick with Rhys Perkins taking 2nd and mark Copeland 3rd, Novice-Beginner class was won by soon to be promoted Nathan Newman with another new CTR rider Steve Price taking 2nd and Nathan's bro Joe Newman 3rd.

Josh Gotts win’s CTR Events
Winter Series Championship Round 2 at the incredible Baskerville.
Photo Roadrunner

Josh Gotts and his awesome little TM 125 made the trip from Cornwall to Hay on Wye to dominate CTR Events WSC round 2 on a damp misty October morning in this beautiful Welsh country side. Team CTR had been hard at work all week designing this awesome 5 mile cross country hare and hounds Enduro race track built from the near flat manor grounds the start line set in the front garden with the breath taking view of the 1820’ hall in the back drop then with some twist and turn’s up and down some step banks to climb and drop offs and through some tight fir tree woods before crossing the tarmac drive and making up the field and starting the big 70 acre woods that consist of step climbs and descents nice trails between the trees stream climbs and descents twisty 4 wheel drive safari tracks this really has everything for the Hare and Hounds racer that’s up for the challenge CTR built a great course.

So at 10.45 and as the mood was set and the bikes and their masters were all line up on the start line and with a brief chat and as 11am clicked over the start flag dropped to set the class’s away and with the Expert class away it was between Jack Powell, James Paczynski, Tommy Francombe and Josh Gotts fitting for the lead with Gotts getting the upper hand until the 2nd hard loop when he dropped it leaving the others to punch, Next let lose was the Vets class and with Ryan Leary getting away 1st to lead into the woods, With the clubman class all sat there patiently CTR dropped the flag for them to attack the race track with the holeshot was Nicky Jones with the rest of the class upfront ready to commence the battle, The novice class all quietly waiting to charge CTR dropped the flag and set them off and as they charged some 150 meters down the straight it was Brad Copeland once again leading the way and grabbing the hole shot.

As the start area fell quite all eyes was on the woods to the right of lap scoring and with the noise of a small 2 stroke engine busy into view it was young Jack Powell from Pontypool who came into sight leading lap 1 closely chase by James Paczynski, Tom Smith, Scott Meredith with Josh Gotts some 34 seconds later giving himself lots of work to do, 1st none Expert class rider into lap scoring was Vets class rider Gary Newman with Vets Expert riders Ryan Leary, Dai Beer and Adrian Evans close behind, Next through was Clubman rider Mike Bearsley, Nicky Jones and Gareth Berezinski with the rest of the Clubman pack pushing hard behind, Next group battle through was the Novice class with Nathan Newman leading and Brad Copeland, Phil Ball not far behind.

As the race progressed and with drop outs and DNF with Scott Meredith pulling out with a busted radiator Mike Bearsley with a broken chain Phil Ball’s bike lost its spark, The battle of the top spots continued and on lap 2 Gotts got into the lead and put in consistent fast lap after lap on his beautiful TM 125 and managed the race with great finesse Powell must have made a mistake as he was now in 3rd and Smith had moved into 2nd with CTR regular top gun Paczynski now in 4th and the rest of the Experts fighting with each other and the race course trying not to falter as they knew they would be swallowed up by the pack, With no more mistakes the race was set and with the top 3 riders really putting it on they managed to stay that way all way to the finish all 1 lap up on the rest with an impressive 15 laps.
In the other groups Vets expert class win went to Mr consistent Ryan Leary on 13 laps with Mr Smooth Dai Beer finishing 9 minutes later on 13 laps with fellow team member Mr Smooth Adrian Evans coming home 3rd also on 13laps, The Vets class winner was Garry Newman and with only 2 from the class getting to the finish 2 went to a well-deserved Mike Crumb coming back from injury and I spotted doing the 2nd hard loop every time well done, In the supper competitive Clubman class the top spots went to eventual winner Rhys Perkins who was last off the start line because he was looking at the beauty of the hall lol !! on a commendable 13 laps 2nd place was Cornish Richard Holmes with 13 laps with 3rd going to Craig Thomas also on 13 laps, The Novice class battle was won by an extra lap by son of Gary Nathan Newman the next top spots went to Neil Davies TM 250 and Brad Copeland both on an impressive 12 laps well done to all and all competitors.

Round 3 CTR WSC is November 18th or 25th weather depending at a great new venue Battle MX track Brecon full details to follow, Thanks to all helpers, Marshals, Land Owner, medicals Team, Supper Lap scorers competitors an support crews see you all next month CTR EVENTS.

CTR kicks off their Winter Series 2012 in great style at a fantastic Cwmsteps longtown with James Paczynski grabbing a well-deserved win.

It was a real close tussle between the class winners and with the great British weather again playing its part and the conditions worsening as the race progressed; the CTR marshals were hard at work doing their best to keep the course running with the ever changing and challenging conditions, because the day started with the riders kicking up dust and smashing around nicely burmed up corners, As the greatly set out 4.5 mile XC hare & Hounds CTR race track set under the black mountains just over the welsh boarder the course set off from the grassy start line twisting into a ploughed field before dropping down and up a small MX track entering the apple arched switching up and down the bottom fields before climbing back up through the farm yard approaching the hard easy loop option making the choice ummm hard/easy!! Then about 10 or so minutes later crossing the lap scoring.

As all the riders were sat on their machine on the start line at 10.45 CTR had a pre-race chat and just as most year it started to spot with wet stuff out of the sky so as 11am approached and the riders warmed their engines CTR stopped all the engines readying them for the dead engine start and with the experts readied CTR dropped the flag to set them away with Mick Rees getting away first closely hounded the pressure and excitement got too much and he dropped it handing James Paczynski the lead and as they disappeared CTR got the Vets & Vets experts away with Jason Rees taking the holeshot, Next to be set away was the clubman class and newly upgraded young Jordan Rusty Ridgeway got the holeshot and lead them away into the distance, last but not least away was the novice and pre 2000 class with Neil Parry “Novice” dropping it leaving pre 2000 rider Nathan Williams Taking the holeshot as the last of the riders disappeared out of sight to negotiate this awesome CTR race track all eyes were focused on who would appear first into lap scoring and with 9 minutes 15 seconds gone it was Shaun Buchan first to cross the line with Paczynski, Mick Rees after picking his self-back up off the floor in the first corner and hard charging but not feeling very well Derek Bawn chasing Buchan hard and the rest of the Hungary pack of riders first none expert through was Vets expert racer Jason Rees with Sam Jones, David Stokes, Ryan Leary and Dai Beer chasing Rees 30 seconds to a minute later, Next through was Vets class rider Kevin Wallace with the next Vet was Rhys Jones 24 seconds later, First clubman through was Nathan Blake with Arron Martin, Dan Newman and Jordan Rusty Ridgeway chasing behind, With the Novice and Pre 2000 class next to appear it was novice rider Lewis James followed by Nathan Newman, Brad Copeland and Co with Pre 2000 class rider Nathan WatWill Williams on his 250 Alfa first to come through.

At around the 90 minutes mark the rain got a lot heavier and the course had to be changed as much as possible and as we spent a lot around the hard loop with the tyres and logs getting wetter and slipperier it was great to watch the riders attack the hard option well done to all great riding and awesome to watch, some of the slippery hills got taken out and the bridge crossing was getting harder the riders and team CTR all worked really hard as the racers swopped and changed places and with 30 minutes left to go Paczynski was in command of the race with Buchan pushing as hard as he could because Matt Maclean was pushing hard behind him with Paczynski pulling away and manageing to get an extra lap on the rest of the pack finish with a great well deserved win on 16 laps with Buchan getting second just 5 minutes in front of Maclean in third both on 15 laps.

The Vets Expert battle between Sam Jones, Ryan Leary and Jason Rees was won by Jones when he gave a big push and pull an extra lap winning the class on 15 laps 5th overall with Leary on 14 laps and 6th overall and Rees coming home just over 5 minutes later with 14 laps 11th overall, Next class winner across the line was clubman rider Arron Martin he had been having a real close battle with 2nd place clubman rider Rhys Perkins both on 13 laps and 16th and 17th overall with Nathan Blake taking 3rd 20th overall on 13 laps good ride lads, Next class win went to Vets class rider Rhys Jones on 12 laps 26th overall with 2nd going to Andy Taylor 12 laps 32nd and 3rd Richard Holland 12 laps 33rd overall, The novice class win went to Nathan Newman on 12 laps 27th overall and 2nd was Lewis James 11 laps 40th and 3rd Alan Dorel 10 laps 42nd overall.

Shaun Buchan Wins CTR EVENTS SSC6 19.8.12 at a wet and wonderful Monmouth.

Shaun Buchan hole shot the race but had a great close battle with CTR SSC 12 Champion James Paczynski at a very wet and wonderful Glanna Farm Monmouth, With a hard week of track building with lots of very heavy rain on the build up but with the promise of greater sunnier hotter weather for Saturday and Sunday CTR made the decision to go for it and yes Saturday had lots of Sunshine and dried the track out lots 7:30 am Sunday and the weather was still dry but was indecisive and while CTR was briefing and chatting to the riders as if in a film on the stroke of 11am the rain come wetting a drying race track.!!, So as CTR let the 1st pack away Buchan taking the holeshot from Steve Biddle, Richard Perkins and co with Paczynski not getting the line so well and was now near the back leaving a lot of work to do and as the experts disappeared over the jump and into the woods CTR let the Vets class away with Chris Stevens and Mike Crumbe on his brand new bike leading them away Ryan Leary got of to a better start and was passing people up the long straight before jumping into the woods, Next away to do battle was the Clubman class with Harvey Dark on his new bike and Mark Copeland on his old bike 1st to the corning and heading the charge with Charlie about mid pack, Next away the Novice-Beginner class and it was Jordon Rusty Ridgeway with the hole shot and as he manage to lead the hungry pack out of sight to start their lap of this awesome but wet XC 4.7 mile race course.

As everyone at the lap scoring area eagerly awaited the arrival of the first riders to appear to see who would be first to negotiate their way around the ever wetting course it was at 12 minutes 11 seconds until Buchan arrived chased by Perkins, Biddle, Paczynski, Mick Rees and Matt Mclean, With Ryan Leary first Vet through with Sam Jones and Terry Beecham very close behind first of the Clubman riders into lap scoring was the Bristol massive Charlie Frost, Mark Copeland, Jake Morgan and Harvey Dark with this looking like it was going to be a battle between these guys, first of the Novice-Beginner class Hare and Hounds Enduro racers to complete their first lap was Alex Van Dyke with his close's rivals a good 2 minutes behind him and eventual class winner and top 3 of Ridgeway, Nikki Jones and David Theadingham not too far behind so it looked like the race and what turned out to be because of the blinking weather a real challenge for all involved was on.

With the course getting in places to difficult and the CTR marshals constantly changing the track to keep things moving and protecting the land they managed it and did a great job with the rain now coming down harder the riders really had to dig deep and try their best as conditions were getting harder yet everyone seemed in good spirit and all had a smile on their faces as the race progressed things for top stops were hotting up between Buchan and Paczynski swopping and changing places a few times leaving Mclean alone and in control of 3rd it come down to the last lap and we all had to wait and see who it would be to appear into sight of the finish would it be Buchan of Paczynski and with the chequered flag waving Buchan come around in front of Paczynski to take the win 2 and a half minutes in front as Paczynski had a problem on the last lap.!! Coming home in 3rd place was Matt Mclean just missing out on the extra lap, Next none Expert around was clubman class winner and 4th overall Charlie Frost 1 lap up on his rivals with Harvey Dark 2nd and Mark Copeland 3rd both on 10 laps, Next class winner in was Veteran class winner Terry Beecham on 9 laps with Adrian Evans taking a tired Ryan Leary on the last lap to take 2nd with Leary 3rd both on 9 laps, with all now waiting for the Novice-Beginner class to be sealed it was young star Jordon Rusty Ridgeway coming home to take a very well deserved awesome class win with 9 laps and 14th overall 2nd in the class was Nikki Jones 3rd David Theadingham both with 7 laps.

Derek Bawn Wins CTR EVENTS SSC5 at Bridgend.

Derek Bawn's supremacy pace and relentless lapping gave the win to the likeable man from Crumlin South Wales and with very fast consistent lap times managed to get in an extra lap on the rest of the speeding XC H&H racers.

Team CTR done it again they found yet another awesome venue set in the south Wales coast line mountains near Bridgend with amazing panoramic of the valleys, coast, and England, The CTR team had been very hard at work all week in the hot sunshine of the British summer battling with the strong winds and live stock that love scratching against any post chewing or snapping the tape and nicking arrows "Lol", But CTR still managed to build a 7 mile XC race track starting on the top of 1 valley dropping down into the bottom twisting and jumping before splashing across a fford crossing then climbing up the mountain with fast sweeping tracks and flat out into top gear big level fields with natural dips, cambers and rises then dropping back down under big beech trees into the valley base then climbing up farm tracks with hard easy options a few bogs then filtering back trough lap scoring .

As 11am was approaching and with everything in place spectators and riders anxiously waiting the start the heavens opened and with a quick 10 minute down poor at 10:45 it stopped just in time for CTR to brief the riders before setting them lose on the race track, As the flag drop for the expert it was Tommy Francombe getting the hole shot with Derek Bawn getting away about mid pack leaving him with some work to do, Next away was the Vets class and with Ryan Leary for once getting away 1st it was Gary McCoy that was a bit more aggressive pushing Leary wide to take the lead as they dropped down the hill and out of sight, With the ever keen Clubman waiting to be let lose the holeshot went to Mark Hillier Rees. Last group to get away and attack this fantastic XC race track was the biggest group of Novice-Beginners and as CTR made sure all engines were dead he dropped the Welsh flag to get them away and 1st around the corner with the group holeshot was Brad Copeland.

With everyone eagerly awaiting at lap scoring to see who would appear 1st and with 11 minutes 29 seconds it was still super fast Tommy Francombe leading from Shaun Buchan, Derek Bawn, Mick Rees and the rest of the Expert's, The 1st none Expert through was Carl Davies leading the Vets with Ryan Leary a few seconds behind and in front of Gary McCoy, 1st Clubman through was Shaun O'Neal who unfortunately only managed 1 lap.!, next was Mark Woodfine, Graham Owens and Charlie Frost with Mark Hillier-Rees trailing just behind giving himself some extra work to do, The 1st of the Novice-Beginners around was Chris Morris with a bunch of Novices hot on his tail.

With the Experts chasing Francombe hard on lap 3 Francombe crashed letting Bawn, James Paczynski and Shaun Buchan past and with Bawn really charging hard it was Paczynski and Buchan left to battle for 2nd and they swopped and changed for the next 5 laps with Buchan finally taking command of the place but Paczynski had to keep pushing with Francombe back in attack mode, Derek Bawn was slowing pulling away with very impressive super fast lap times which were just about 10 seconds faster but he couldn't afford a mistake or to slow as Buchan and Paczynski were still there pushing each other it was good to see such great racing between all the class pushing each other hard and looking like they were having fun with Matt Mclean dropping out on lap 10 with a blown engine.

In the Vets it s was left to Carl Davies and Gary McCoy after super vets Ryan Leary having a big crash when he run out of track trying to stop, Davies seemed to be in control of his lead but with super fast McCoy chasing him hard behind and Leary back in the chase McCoy and Davies had to keep on their game and with the Wolfe chasing them all it was in their best interests, In the clubman class it was wide open with the top 10 all finishing on the same 13 laps but at the top end it was between Mark Hillier-Rees, Jake Morgan, Charlie Frost, Graham Owens and Lewis James for the top spots with it finally end in Hillier-Rees, Morgan And Frost, the novice-beginner class was between Anthony Francis, Jordan Rusty Ridgeway, John Doddy, Scott Thathell and Nikki Jones with the top 3 being Francis, Ridgeway and Doddy get the top 3.

It was a great days racing on a awesome CTR XC race track massive thanks to all riders, helpers, marshals, medical team and mostly lap scorers and land owner, Next CTR EVENT is SSC6 the final 19.8.12 at the fantastic eagerly awaited Glanna farm Cwmcarvan Monmouth see you all there this fills fast so get your entries in fast www.ctrevents.co.uk  thanks CTR.

Shaun Buchan Wins The Awesome CTR EVENTS SSC4 in Caerphilly South East Wales on A lovely Sunday In June..!!

With the weather playing A game of lets pretend its winter, And team CTR preperring an awesome 4.30 mile Hare & Hounds full on XC race track, Shaun Buchan came near enough straight down from riding 2 days of rain and mud at the Welsh 2 day Enduro Mid Wales to put in A very impressive performance to win CTR EVENTS Summer Series Championship round 4 at this great enduro track track set on top of the hills with panoramic views of the Bristol channel Caerphilly and Cardiff in East South Wales. With the weather always going to play A big part in the out come of the race with Sunshine on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday then hard rain wind and cold Thursday and most of Friday giving A better dryer windier day Saturday with some heavy rain over night we awoke Sunday to A much brighter day Sunday and with A light wind drying the course team CTR was hard at work checking and repairing the weather beaten track.

As 11am approached and with all the CTR racers and their bikes lined up on the start line CTR after the pre race chat got the 1st group off with Danny Morris grabbing the holeshot and Shaun Buchan near last away leaving Craig Thomas last away close to being swallowed up by the Vets with Richard Holland getting the holeshot, Next to get away the clubman class and the holeshot was taken by supper keen Mitch Frost doing 1 on his bro very closely chased by Charlie Frost with Harvey Dark hot on Frosts tail, Next away was the Novice-Beginners group and it was Gary Taylor with the holeshot chased by Alex Van Dyke, Nicky Jones and Brad Copeland.

As we were all waiting to see who would lap score after the 1st lap it was Neil Thomas with Steve Biddle just 2 seconds behind and James Paczynski just 8 seconds behind Biddle with Buchan A further 6 seconds later, Next none Expert around was Charlie Frost with Harvey Dark just 7 seconds behind and new comer to the Enduro scene is supper trials rider Jake Evans with the rest of the Clubman class close behind, The 1st Vets class into lap scoring was Ryan Leary who as now managed more than the last event when his ride let him down on the 1st lap he had to keep up his pace today because next through and with the weather conditions he likes was Adrian Evans just 14 seconds behind on A 17 minute lap with Holland chasing close behind, 1st of the Novice-Beginners into be lap scored was Alex Van Dyke, Nicky Jones, and Brad Copeland with the rest of the hungry pack nipping close behind.

In the overall Expert battle it was hot as places were swopping around for the 1st hour with Biddle taking the 2nd lap Paczynski and Buchan now topping out on lap 3 it was Buchan, Biddle, Paczynski with Derry Milling closing in lap 4 just over the 1 hour mark Buchan was now leading and looks like he had control of the race leaving Milling, Thomas and Biddle to scrap over 2nd and 3rd and on lap 7 it was Buchan leading Thomas was now holding 2nd with Milling commanding 3rd when Biddle had to pit A longer than he wanted, With 2 laps to go little did biddle no but milling had A problem when he clipped A stump bending his back brake lever wrapping it right around his foot rest tricky because he only had brake when he pushed pressure on the foot rest.!!, With supper fit little Shaun Buchan cruising his 1 minute lead into the chequered flag with A great performance and Neil Thomas just about another minute in front of Derry Milling.

The Vets race was between supper Vet Ryan Leary, Adrian Evans and Richard Holland and with Leary leading from lap 1 to the finish he never looked to be caught also Evans had to pit about 90 minutes in allowing Leary even more time to pull A 5 minute lead at the chequered flag with Leary and Evans on 9 laps Holland just missed out with 3rd on 8 laps, The Clubman challenge was between Charlie Frost, Harvey Dark, Mark Copeland, Rhys Perkins and Mark Hillier Rees on lap 4 Dark dropped off leaving it all to Frost, Copeland and Perkins as Frost started to cap away winning the class on 10 laps Copeland 2nd with Perkins 3rd both on 9 laps, Novice-Beginners top 2 places was contested between Nicky Jones and Alex Van Dyke with the last few laps swopping between each other Jones finishing on top at the finish just 25 seconds in front of Van Dyke both with 8 laps with Copeland taking 3rd on 7 laps well done to all top 3 I'm sure the RhinoGoo will help.

James Paczynski wins CTR EVENTS Summer Series Championship
Round3 27th May at the fantastic new venue Michealchurch Escley Herefordshire.

Photos Enduro News

James Paczynski put in a faultless performance to win the CTR SSC3 in this beautiful setting on the Welsh England boarder in Herefordshire, CTR EVENTS found a real gem and built A 5 miles Hare & Hounds XC race track that was without doubt one of the best in the UK with the parking start lap scoring fuel pits all with in the same area it was A great social friendly atmosphere and in this amassing May summer sunshine the mood was set for A great day, And as the 11am start time approached and with the CTR riders brief over and with the keen motorcycles and their riders wanting to get away.

CTR kept them under control in silence like a masterful Sheppard with only seconds to go the start flag was dropped and first away was the Experts with Nathan Etheridge getting the Hole shot from Arran Wells and Paczynski with the rest of the pack fighting their way through the woods down the hill and through the ford crossing it was time for the Vets class to get away with Len Giles and Richard Holland getting away and into the woods 1st with supper Vet Ryan Leary last away again this would be the last time we would see Leary as he suffers bike failure on the first lap, Next to be let lose and into the chase was the ever hungry clubman riders with Charlie Frost nicking the hole shot to lead the pack away on their pursuit, And with the super keen Novice-Beginners patiently waiting to be let lose it was their time to go play and they were set loose onto this new CTR race track packed full of Hills streams descents Big blasts some beautiful shaped contours so all the Hares & Hounds were away in pursuit.

At the lap scoring everyone was waiting to see who would appear first and at 9 minutes 34 seconds it was Etheridge still leading from Wells with Paczynski Ade Dealey Steve Biddle Gethin Francombe and Dan Bishop all Very Hot on his tail, As most of the Expert pack go through first of the Vets to appear was new man into the class Carl Davies half a minute later came Andy Stagg Dave Wolfe and another new kid on the block Andrew Kytes, With the Clubman riders splitting up the pack of Vets Charlie Frost maintained his lead to be followed by Nikki Whiles Jamie Weller and Llewellyn Pavey, With the rest of the hungry pack of racers mixing their way through lap scoring first Novice-Beginner in was Rhys Perkins on his new steed chased in by Jordan Rusty Ridgeway and Brad Copeland with a big cap before the other Novice-Beginners arrive.

As the race progressed it was on the second lap that Paczynski moved into the lead and started to put in some consistently fast laps to command and pull away with Wells, Biddle, Dealey, Bishop and Francombe having a great battle all swopping and changing places with on about lap 3 Dealey losing gears being stuck in 3rd he put up A great fight but as the day went on it became to much and had to pull out leaving Wells Biddle Bishop and Francombe to sort things out James Paczynski having it all his own way and getting further away with an awesome performance of speed control and skill picking his way around this ever changing and getting faster and more flowing he was looking dope!, As over half way approached Steve Biddle moved into second with Arran Wells commanding third Gethin Francombe was A safe forth but could do nothing about the two men in front.

In the battle of the Vets Carl Davies was in control of his lead but couldn't afford to let up with Wolfe, Pavey, Shaun Copeman and Andrew Kytes stalking not to far behind on lap three Pavey moved into second with Wolfe pushed hard by Kytes with Davies ahead on his own Andrew Kytes moved on the Wolfe to take third and with these top four all pushing and Ryan Leary left as a spectator and with the top 3 pushing each other so hard they managed to get the extra lap the result seemed to be sorted but on the last lap not to far from the finish Pavey appeared into sight pushing his big 450 Husky over the line with A snapped chain but still managed third.

The Clubman Competition was between Frost, Nikki Whiles, Llewellyn Pavey, Jamie Weller and Matt Lewis on his beautiful TM 300, With young and I think up and coming prospect Charlie Frost putting in some fast lap times that would match Expert pace Frost would pull away leaving second and third between Weller, Lewis, Pavey and Whiles with Whiles and Pavey swopping and changing for second after lap 8 something happened to Whiles and he had to pull out of the race leaving Pavey to slot into second but with Weller and Lewis pushing each other so hard no one could afford any mistakes but on lap 13 Pavey took A knock to the head and started to slow with Weller and Lewis moving in on the last lap to take second and third.

With the Novice-Beginner class the top spots was fort out between Rhys Perkins young supper fast Jordan Rusty Ridgeway with Peter Hurcome, Robert Montrose and Rhys Jones having their own battle for third as Perkins and Ridgeway were left to battle for first and second with Perkins keeping the lead away from Ridgeway with them both finishing first and second on 14 laps and Hurcome pulling third on 13 laps well done lads great racing and A very good result.

At the chequered flag there was smiles all round and everyone enjoyed their day and the new race track, A massive thanks to the land owner and their neighbours, The medical team, Rhinogoo, All the awesome CTR marshals Carla and Rosie signing on and lap scoring and my dad Keith we all love you Keithy..!.

CTR EVENTS SSC round 2 run on a dry but wet May bank holiday Sunday in the beautiful black mountains on the Welsh English boarder after weeks of crazy wet and windy weather we finally had a 4 day break in the wet weather and on this loverlly day of sun shine we were able to get things going again and has 11am start approached and some 100 dirt bikes and their riders were all sat on the racing start line CTR had a pre race chat, CTR dropped the starter flag and got the race away with Shaun Buchan getting the holeshot and as the experts made their way straight for the hard loop option and with Buchan getting it a bit wrong at the mighty logs the rest of the expert waited paitantly behind as he got over the logs and made his way to the big tyres he made his attack but again getting it wrong leaving Jamie lewis to make his move over the tyres and getting infront for the first time as the experts were now away CTR dropped the flag for the Vets class with Rhys Jones leading the way around the first corner, Next away was the the clubman class with Llewelyn Pavey getting the holeshot just infront of Dan Newman Joe Gittings-Jones and Charlie Frost, Next to be let lose on their assolt of this new 4 mile hare and hounds race track was the Novice-Beginners with the RhinoGoo hole shot going to Jamie Bowden hounded by Ian Lord and Craig Hale.

As the riders twisted and tured their way around the corse popping in and out of sight it was Buchan 1st to reappear back up the straight over the logs trought the gate way to the wet field, But at the lap scoring it was Jamie Lewis first to appear on a supper fast first lap time of 7:19 with Shaun Buchan hot on his tail 7:28, Next expert through was young Josh Gotts on his beautiful TM 125 followed buy James Paczynski then Nathan Etheridge all hounded buy the rest of the hungry hounds, First of the Vets was Adrian Evans on a time of 9:42 followed by Dave Wolfe 5 seconds behind Evans with Dai Beer and Ryan Leary snapping at their heels just seconds behind, First clubman around was Harvey Dark with the supper keen pack of clubman racers hot on him was Pavey Jamie Weller and Dan Newman with young Charlie Frost a bit behind giving him some work to do, Next group around the first lap was the Novice-Beginners and with Rhys Perkins leading the way closely chased by Graham Owens both with a bit of a lead on the rest of the pack,

As the race progressed and the course was taking shape Lewis was putting in some impressive laps of low to mid 8+ minutes and with the rest of the chasing pack now behind and chasing him hard Lewis could'nt afford any mistakes with Buchan Matt MaClean Chris Price and James Paczynski all chasing hard and as the 2 and half hour race nearered the end Lewis's bike started making strange noises has the teeth were flying of the front sprocket and with Buchan and McClean ready to punch Lewis had to push his bike over the finish line with 5 minutes to spare with Buchan taking second just over 3 minutes infront of McClean all top 3 on 17 laps.

With the Vets class race swopping and changing through the day between Adrian Evans and Ryan Leary swopping between first and second all day with Leary finaly taking command to finsh just over 2 minutes ahead of Evans, About mid way the last podium spot was fort out between Dai Beer Rhys Jones and Dave Wolfe with again around the one hour mark Beer started to push and pull away to take 3rd just 2 minutes behind Evans with all top 3 in the Vets class finishing on 14 laps.

In the Clubman class battle between Llewelyn Pavey Harvey Dark and Charlie Frost was hotting up with Pavey Dark and Frost hot on each others tails it was lap 3 when Pavey moved on Dark to take the Clubman lead so now Dark had Frost to deal with and with them both pushing hard it was on lap 10 that Dark pulled away from Frost with Pavey and Dark finishing on 15 laps and frost taking 3rd on 14 laps. Great racing boys you all earned your RhinoGoo..

Derek Bawn wins the Hounds of the Baskervilles
Report CTR Photo mla photography

Carl Tiley Racing's Summer series got off to a real Summery start this weekend with the warmest March day for 90 years in Wales. The venue was in the grounds of the Baskerville Hotel - the inspiration for the Conan Doyle classic. The majestic mansion - overlooking the Wye near Hay - is a superb location with every facility close at hand.

The start was planned for 11.00am but with the clocks "springing forward" the organisers gave the riders a sighting lap for any late comers to catch up and for the sun to work it's magic on the dewy grass. The course weaved around the field before a log slowed the riders down to cross the drive and climb to the mature wood behind the house. By 11.20am the riders had lined up for the proper start.

Derek Bawn put in consistent fast laps from start to finish to claim CTR SSC Rd1 with this ever enthusastic and relentless hard pushing style and attacking pace, But he had to keep on his game as close behind and ready to punch was Scott Meredith on his CTR TM 125, With James Paczymski on his KTM 250, Matt McLean, The Francombe Bros Aled Humphreys Dan Bishop and the rest of the hungry hounds of the Baskerville racers charging very hard behind them all taking the hard loop options and negotiating the fantastically challenging 5 mile loop with 70% in the woods on the steep hill side all up behind the Hotel and some steep hill dissents followed by some nice flowing hill climbs and a fast flowing down stream section looping you back towards the lap scoring before some great banked jumps and drop offs, But again no mistakes from Bawn as Meredith faded of and Paczymski slipped closer and was putting in fast laps with riders swopping places to take 2nd with both Bawn and Paczymski 1st and 2nd the only 2 on 16 laps, And with McLean having a good day and pushing hard to take 3rd.

With the Experts lapping at great speed the Vets class battle was down to new boy Sam Jones Ryan Leary Adrian Evans Dai Beer Dave Wolfe and Terry Beecham and these boys were really flying around these great course and the ever competitive Vets were swopping and changing with Jones leading all the way Evans, Beer, Beecham, Wolfe and Leary were all fighting with each other and trying to stay with Jones and with Leary getting past and pulling away both finishing on 14 laps it was down to Beecham, Beer Wolfe and Evans for the last top spot with Beecham just taking 3rd from Beer buy just 17 seconds and Wolfe just behind.

The Clubman race was between the young guns of Jack Powell, Harvey Dark and Charlie Frost with Dark lapping 1st and Powell some 37 seconds behind and Frost over a minute later it was on lap 6 that Powell made his move after 5 laps of chasing Dark and he took the lead and managed to hold on to the end and with Frost now hounding Dark Harvey couldn't afford any mistakes and Frost was pushing hard but no mistakes and a great ride from all and as the race went on that's how it stayed with Powell taking top spot from Dark and Frost.

In the Novice-Beginner class that battle for the top 3 was down to Rhys Perkins, Andy Taylor and neighbouring farmer Edward James and with Taylor lapping 1st just over 3 minutes in front of James and over 4 minutes before Perkins the day was set for a great battle with Perkins chasing Taylor hard for over 6 laps its was on lap 7 Perkins passed Taylor to lead the way and finishing 3 minutes up on Taylor but Taylor still had work to do because local farmer Edward James was trying to heard him in however Taylor was in full control and managed his lead over James buy 8 minutes well done boys great racing on this challenging Cross Country course.
