The Dirtbike-Action crew had spent the last month preparing for the first rounds of the new Northern Enduro Championship generously sponsored by Putoline and Eurotek. As usual the start area contained refuelling and a special test which would keep the spectators and refuelling crew entertained over the weekend.

A good entry of around 160 riders set off on the first day. Weather conditions were good, dry and cool ideal for riding, the course had some standing puddles which the riders soon splashed out on the first lap. With 4 laps for Championship and Expert, 3 for Clubman O/40 and 2 for Sportsman 0/50 per day and 2 specials test per lap the riders would be fully tested over the 2 day of competition.

There was a good Championship line up which included Brad Freeman, Rob Johnson, Frazer Flockhart, Luke Lusher and Joe Chambers, and as day 1 progressed it was clearly Colwyn Bay KTM UK rider Brad Freeman who stamped his authority on the first day with a first day winning margin of 1 minute 38 seconds over Eurotek rider Rob Johnson after 7 tests.

In the Expert class which had just on 30 riders a new name emerged top of the results after day 1 Jake Gowan competing in his first time card Enduro. Jake was over a minute clear after 7 tests from Andrew Blissett with Matt Boam in third. Nathan Ball won the day 1 Clubman overall and the E1 Clubman while Glen Broadhirst was top in the E2 class. In the 040 Russell Millward made his long journey worthwhile with victory.

Day 2 the weather was warmer and the sun managed to get out and most off the classes followed Saturdays form. Brad was on top form but he had Lee Sealey snapping at his heels and held a 44 second winning margin over Lee Sealey after 7 tests. Jake Gowan won the Experts Class. In Clubman E2 Eurotek rider James Jackson improved on his 5th place on day 1 to win on day 2 .

Clerk of the course John Kerwin said at the end of the event, “it has run like clockwork two days of time card enduro that has tested the rides to the limit. Once again the check times were spot on keeping the riders pushing, the tests stood up well throughout the weekend, I am very pleased with the first rounds of the championship. There are unfortunately 2 date changes to the Championship calendar requested by the forestry, Harwood scheduled for the 12 April has moved to the 5th July and Langdale has moved from the 7 June to 14 June. Sorry about this but it’s totally out of our hands.”

A final thank you to all the riders who supported the event
