Maxspeed events run their September event the muddy one on a glorious dry day at the Castell Howell complex in West Wales. With riders coming from as far as Shrewsbury there were new faces to tackle a few local heroes here in Wales. The youth race was run at 10.30am and heading the solos into the first control was Tom Watkins riding very hard from the word go but the surprise rider was James Bevan on his 200cc blaster riding like a world champion lapping a lot of riders with an incredible 28 laps! Over the 1 mile course in the 1 hour race. His nearest challenge was from Callum Carter who was really spectacular at the cottage junction on the cobra 70cc factory quad giving the crowd a show of his drifting skills but in the last 5 minutes had to wait at the control with a misfire to only finish on 16 laps but winning the class over Shelley smart on her trusty quadzilla shark by 2 laps still.

The adult race was a great entry with the 250cc class very well supported with local favourite Ryan Leary on the line and from the 500cc class Carl Jones from Shrewsbury it would be a good battle for sure, at 12.30pm Ian Carter clerk of the course lined them up for a dead start! Not popular with Carl Jones! As the flag dropped Leary tore into the first corner and left Jones struggling with his Honda kicking it over and dead last to leave Jones with 3 minutes down already. Mr Leary was leading by a country mile with his hole shot helping him command the pace over the 4 mile loop and finishing with an incredible 24 laps and overall win out of the quads and the solos.

But the ride of the day had to go to Carl Jones on his first ever hare and hounds his first dead start in last position of the start line he caught up to win the 500cc class and still finish on 21 laps the highest lap scorer to Leary!

In the 125cc class the win went to Liam Philips who was not challenged all day with a 20 lap score rate and was up there with the big 500cc boys giving them a run over the bumpy sections showing people that bike set up is everything and power is not always king.
The quad class was going well for Antony Jones until his bike seized near the finish giving him second overall to Anita smart who finished ahead stealing the win by 3 laps clear of Jones as all he could do was watch his lead slip away in the mud at the muddy one!
