Surrey Police MCC Hare n Hounds Bagshot
Final Round SEEC Championship 24-11-13

A fair bit of rain prior to the event made conditions a little trickier but Surrey Police MCC put a good fast lap in that avoided the deep bogs and gnarly climbs

Championship Class
Max Varney true to form and is the rider that has the biggest target on his back in the SEEC and was clear to see why as he had reached a lead early on that was unreachable.... until he got caught up with a back marker that required work to his bike which let Jack Turner through who himself had been in the wars and taking the lead sparked jack into action and he upped his game but as the saying goes a wounded animal is dangerous and Max was like a scolded cat and caught Jack and disappeared into the distance to take the final win of the season but credit to Jack who really did try and give Max a hard time, 3rd but a lap down was Clive Gammage.

Expert Class
Mark Kirby not the most popular rider in the class and that's not due to anything else but his age as he is the old man of the class and refuses to go into the Veteran ranks and the young guns in the class hate him beating them but The Kirbinator just thrives on challenges and is without doubt one of the fittest out there and today he took the holeshot and despite crashing his usual half a dozen times and having to battle with hot shot youngster Harvey Dark who had travelled down from the West Country The Kirbinator took the class win and 4th overall, let's hope we see more of Harvey next season as an exciting hard rider, Tristan Robinson took 3rd and despite the lap being fast and not to technical which does not suit him he found a rhythm and rode well and overall has had a good first year in Experts and has shown good progression.

Vet A Class
Rob Carey whom has not ridden that much this year and must have been saving his best for last as rode a storming event and personally was best i have seen ride for a long time to take victory, runner up Neil Challice who had an awful start and had to play catch up but really did not look at one with the course today and did well to get that second podium, 3rd was Paul Armstrong who rode well and reading his body language he was focused and was concentrating more than usual and he will be made up with getting the final podium place.
Vet A Over 50 was just edged by 2013 Romaniacs rider Steve Bird who was that bit more consistent and neat than runner up Graham Reid, final podium went to Dorset's Steve Taylor.

Clubman A Class
Richard Ball and Stuart King have had some good battles over 2013 and this was no exception with Stuart getting the fastest lap but Richard being that bit more consistent and aggressive took the win but a top battle never less, Dom Wilson had the worst of starts and had to dig deep and will be mega happy with that final podium and can be very proud of his season and the progress he has made.

Vet B Class
Manny Bernardez took the lead but to be fair the conditions were not his favourite but battled to the end and from what i could see just lacked a bit of speed on the fast fire roads and came home 3rd, runner up was Mick Stradwick who was caught between a rock and a hard place as did not want to ruin his championship by crashing and burning yet needed top points and looked a bit nervy at times and came home 2nd, Tom Moore was last off the line and the Tom of old would have over tried and crashed trying to catch up but i like this new Tom as he got his head down and knew what he had to do and rode fast without taking silly risks and Bingo he takes victory.
Vet B over 50 class was won yet again by Colin Cowley who has totally dominated it, Stephen Scott was runner up and was my favourite rider of the day to watch and photograph as has a beautiful style that makes me smile each time the shutter goes down, 3rd was Ady Matthews who to me did not look quite as happy as he usually does and looked like he was over trying but never less got that all important podium.

Clubman B Class
The top 3 of this class are all young upstarts with a great future in the sport with the youngest being Nathan Baggott who got 3rd spot, had a great ride and his position changed so many times but always in the top 6 and is one to watch for in 2014, runner up was Brad Wharton whom i have praised many times but needs to ride more than the 3 or 4 times a year he does as has enormous potential, but the winner and class act all year who has a great style that is aggressive without being dangerous and i predict a top 5 Clubman A finish next season.

Sportsman Class
Kirk Giles in his first SEEC event not only got the holeshot motocross style but took a well deserved class win in front of his young family and wife and will be a much welcome addition to the series next year although he had to battle early on with Elliot Beken who was in his first event for about 4 years, Nick Summers took runners up spot and has been very much an improved rider since his mechanical woes have gone and look forward to seeing him in Clubman B next year, 3rd and probably the biggest grin of the day to Dave Thackray who not only rode the best i have seen him but had that extra bit of mettle today and deserved that podium.

RD 1 Bagshot Hosted By Surrey Police MCC 10-03-13
Photo & report Rich Troth

A course of two halves with one half being fast and flowing and the other being quite technical and the special test being quite long and fast, conditions despite quite a bit of rain over the previous few days were good and Surrey Police MCC did their best to avoid any waterlogged areas. A full entry list of around 120 with many new bikes and bright kits on show and some bloody awful ones at that, did anyone see that fella with those Yellow Boots on.

The event was stopped after 2 hours due to 2 incidents and took an hour to sort out, event was restarted but shortened and restructured.

The two riders involved in the incidents were Paul Reich (Vet B Over 50) who has a broken femur and broke a bone in his neck , the other rider who crashed in front of me was Ali Brown (Clubman A) who has broken his heel, both are in Frimley Park Hospital but hope to be home soon.

Teamsnapper Championship Class
A good line up and great to see the showman Ollie Moyce back and is being supported by Freestyle Husqvarna and despite losing his rear brake early on and crashing on one of his tests but showed he will be a force this year and took 4th spot, his Freestyle team mate James Burroughs looked very confident on the going and looks like he is making the transition from 4T to 2T successfully and came home 5th, Rob Carey (KTM) as always was consistent over the 3 tests and looked happy on the going for 6th place, Dan Lawry on his new ET James/Teamsnapper KTM 300 looked very happy on the going especially the technical stuff but messed his second test and dropped time but came home 7th, 8th went to Arnaud Didey (KTM), Clive Gammage (KTM) sadly DNF, 3rd went Teamsnapper rider Jack Turner who generally is not an aggressive rider but today he must have been pissed off and rode with anger and it was quite noticeable and earned him a great well deserved result, Runner up spot went to Motoward Yamaha Rider Max Varney whom rode confidently and fast and has now got a target on his back and still very early days at this level for the young Max who has also gone up to a 250 from 125..... man to watch, but no doubting the winner Rich Ely on the D-3 Racing/Teamsnapper KTM who despite personal problems that have hindered him and his pre season preparation but once that race head was engaged he was fast and precise and i believe he will get stronger and faster as the season unfolds.

SMD Off Road Expert Class
He may be the master in the wet but Phil Wiffen (Husaberg) showed what he is capable of when conditions are normal and looked silky smooth to take victory, The likeable trials ace Ben Wibberley (Gas Gas) who is still learning the enduro way and was his first Timecard took a very creditable runners up spot and is very much enjoying his Enduro events, Elliot Davies is very much the entertainer and despite going up to the experts he is still show boating for all us freezing cold spectators and has stamped his authority in his new class with 3rd place, 4th went to Team Mairco rider Jason Mair who was the most consistent rider in class on the special tests, 5th went to Dan Alldred who was on his brand new bike and on first timecard which equates to top result and can see Dan being consistently up the pointed end, Sean Holdaway (KTM) came home 6th and looked happy enough out there, 7th Gareth Hughes (KTM) was his usual consistent self but definitely gets more confident and focused as the event wears on, 8th was Alex Bayne-Powell (KTM), was great to see our good friend Matt Brown back after a year’s sabbatical to grab 9th, Rob Taylor and Mark Jordan DNF.

Veteran A Class
No surprises here but legend and piss taker extraordinaire Neil Challice (KTM) who so looks at one on his bike and makes it look all so easy took victory and even the distraction of the Yellow Boot fella could not slow him down, however he did not have it easy as Teamsnapper rider Steve White (KTM) matched him and have to say was very impressed with his special tests as he rode like he wanted it and it showed for that runners up spot, 3rd went to RAF rider Paul Hearn (Honda) who surprised me as Paul is very calculated and does not take risks and knows points make prizes but seeing him out of shape on the tests told me he was digging deep and the reward was evident, 4th went to Ian Mitchell who rode well on the going but i missed his tests but great result, 5th went to Teamsnapper rider Chris Stanger despite crashing on all 3 tests......more haste less speed but was happy to be riding again after operation and was glad to back riding the 150 KTM and bag some points ...must do better next event Team Manager Erika (what Moustache) said, 6th went to Teamsnapper rider Nick Dyer on his new 450 Husqvarna which looked a handful for the 3ft midget (Only Joking...... how are your 6 brothers lol) , i just feel the bike is not right for the likeable Nick but time will tell, 7th Steven Bryan, 8th Brett Moore Snr whom looked like he was out trail riding and needs to get his arse in gear and move up the table his wife Mandy was too distraught to be interviewed after saying he has let down the team, Steve Bird buggered off home early when event was temporarily halted as he had to get back for songs of praise and crumpets by the fire.

Veteran Over 50 Class
Euan Harrison Teamsnapper/GGR Husaberg was only rider in this class and looked like he was not pushing to his limit yet would have made top 3 in Vet A, despite his craggy looks and forgetfulness he is still a miserable old sod but damn good on a bike.

Tri County KTM Clubman A Class
What a result for the funny man of enduro Robin Scarry who has such an infectious bubbly zany character that makes you want to get a stick and beat him into next week followed by a size 11 yellow boot up his arse... only kidding Robin, a great result with some great test times that were of expert class times, Liam Thomas (KTM) kept Robin on his toes and took runners up spot, such a shame with Liam as does not get to ride as much as he wants due to trial commitments as talent there for sure, 3rd went to James Smith Teamsnapper KTM who like always builds his race day up to a crescendo and peaks as the event finishes but it works for him and always scores good valuable points, 4th went to Dean Goggins (KTM), 5th to Richard Ball (KTM) who has really excelled in the last year and is definitely a title contender, 6th Teamsnapper KTM rider Dan Brundell who looked a lot faster than his test times show but good result although a better result would be to have his hair cut, 7th to Carshalton rider on the Teamsnapper Gas Gas Marc Morley-Freer who will be happy with his position and points, Aaron Dibnah (Team Dibby/Teamsnapper KTM) looked good on the going but must have pushed his bike round on the tests with those times, maybe a tad more MX practice needed for the lovable oddball (Only joking Aaron), Dan Sopp (Teamsnapper KTM) doesn’t really do anything wrong but needs to up his test times to get into that top 5, 10th to John (JB) Brown who likes rhythm and i don’t mean hip swinging and reggae but the stoppage and incidents have an effect as JB is so precise and predictable with his riding and once in his rhythm god forbid stop him. Other Notables, Jamie Moller 11th, Chris O’Grady 12th, 13th to Tom Harbon (Suzuki) who is damn quick but got 560 penalty points before he started and then had a moment on 2nd test but still one to watch out for, Terry Gower DNF, Matt Hubbard was riding round in a hypnotic trance and pulled over for his own safety (or Sanity ?), Andrew Gilden DNF, Gary Hanson DNF, Dan Isard DNF, Neil Deakin DNF.

Veteran B Class
Jason King (KTM) has definitely established himself back into the Enduro world and continued is run of fortune with a convincing win with times that would have put him up the pointed end of Vet A and from my observations he does not seem to have a weak area and seems a very competent all rounder, Well happy for runner up Andy Sharp (KTM) who has been out after injury and operation and was supposed to be taking it easy but Andy being Andy soon got into the swing and has his mojo back and a well deserved result, 3rd went to Mick Stradwick (KTM) who so missed his opportunity of fame and fortune (A share of the insurance money) as so nearly took Kaka out after aiming for her...... sorry i mean landing awkwardly after a jump that made her pee her panties which made me laugh so much i peed mine too, 4th went to Team Psycho rider Tom Moore (Husaberg) who is simply odd, odd in the fact that sometimes he is without doubt a good fast rider that wins, then you get the other Tom Moore who is like a Sportsman rider on acid, fast but has no idea where he is going or what he’s doing then today we have Tom Moore the bore as he rode sensibly, in control and gets a very middle of the road result..... give the man some acid please, and low and behold in 5th place fellow Team Psycho rider Tim (Shrek) Newman(KTM) who is the friendly giant of enduro, rode well but definitely stopped on his second test to have a spot of lunch judging by his time, 6th Gareth Allen on his lovely KTM 200 who looked quite timid on the first two tests yet went like a man possessed on the 3rd, 7th to my good friend the and Enduro Guru Manny Bernardez (Teamsnapper/Full Throttle Junkies Yamaha) who despite not riding that often over recent months looked happy and confident and despite having a poor last test had a good day even if he does look like a mobile neon sign.... bright.... no.... blinding yes, 8th Adrian Wilkins (Gas Gas) who started well but sort of got worse as event wore on but am sure will bounce back as he is Mr Consistent usually, 9th to Nick Littlecott (KTM) who always posts a finish and has great consistency , finishing the top 10 was Steven Rolstone (KTM) who was consistent all day on the going and on the tests, 11th to my good friend Simon Minch (Husaberg) who definitely prefers the faster going and seemed to struggle with the big berg in the tech tight stuff, Andrew Brown(KTM) posted a DNF but that was due to helping an injured rider and Richard Shaw posted a DNF after police pulled him over as he was seen acting in a suspicious manner in the pits, apparently when arrested he calmy said “I’ll come quietly Guvnor”.

Veteran B Over 50 Class
Colin Cowley on the big Teamsnapper KTM 500 won in convincing fashion with times that would have been top 5 Vet A Class, a very fit good rider that should win this class although he has some competition with “The Old Fella” Timothy Tubb (Teamsnapper KTM) who really looked like he was enjoying himself and was quite lively over the jumps and had good consistent test times.... let’s hope this continues “old fella” as a great 2nd place and plenty of points, Ian Wilson (Husqvarna) started very well but posted a DNF, Peter Lawry (Teamsnapper KTM) also took an early bath and posted a DNF, Stephen Head (Teamsnapper KTM) was forced to leave early due to Mr Bird wanting to get back for Songs of Praise.

Woods Butchers Clubman B Class
Unlike his Dad Brett Moore Jnr (KTM) came here to ride and ride he did showing some great skills and talent to take victory, just hope he competes in the whole series, runner up was another youngster Felix Warren (KTM) who may look like a court jester in his kit but has the skills and talent to be title chaser, 3rd went to yet another teenager in the guise of super smooth Matt (Iceman) Coyne (Teamsnapper KTM)who makes progress every time i see him and just needs a bit of self belief to gain a bit more confidence, 4th went to KTM rider Matthew Lawrence, 5th to LFB rider Ben Young (KTM) who always gets a good result if he finishes, so let’s hope Ben can keep finishing and be a contender, 6th Ian Mace (KTM) who was having a good ride with David Millar (Husaberg) and gave me plenty of entertainment, 7th Paul Todd (Honda), 8th for Pops Bernie Coyne (KTM) whom will be very happy to have made top 10 in this the biggest class of the day, 9th Rich Colquhoun (KTM), 10th Peter Moller on his new Gas Gas, Other Notables Dan Catt 11th, Dave Mair 12th on his Maico who looked a lot faster than his placing depicts, 13th Michael Bosak, 14th Chris Welch, 15th Rich Hobbs (KTM) who rode consistent tests and looked more than happy on the going, 16th Yamaha mounted Alex Mace who looked quick but i believe made mistakes on the tests, 17th Jeremy Eastlake (KTM) who was smiling a lot ..... Or grimacing, 18th went to my old rival from PMCRC Mark Horswell on his KTM, 19th to good friend and Teamsnapper rider Alex Dyne who looked a lot better and faster than his result and definitely enjoyed his day, Justin Spalding posted a DNF and can’t blame him as he has the blingiest of bikes and was shame to get it anymore dirtier, Rob Knight (KTM) was flying until his chain broke, Matt Isard DNF, and Rob Giles (Gas Gas) posted DNF although i thought he had posted a finish and as always Rob rides with that silly smirk (Could be fear actually) across his face which makes me laugh lap after lap, Mick Wylie (KTM) also had DNF, and as class sponsor Rob Mussell on the Woods Butchers KTM has nothing posted, no times , no didley squat, in fact if it was not for his large stature i would have said he wasn’t even here.

Sportsman Class
Ady Matthews (KTM) was clear winner in this class with a great show of skill and speed, Vincent Austin (KTM) was runner up and put in two very consistent test times on the little 144 smoker, 3rd went to my good little buddy Adam Moore (Kawasaki) who showed a few up on his little 85cc bike.....well done mate, 4th Yamaha mounted Andrew Seymour who looked happy on the going and put in 2 consistent tests to make the top 5, Darren Newton (Husky) 5th, 6th went to “The Man” , yes people take notice John Coyne rode well with speed and air ...... yeah yeah yeah i hear you all saying ... hold on folks ... i am telling the truth.... but i also have the reason why..... A new diet NO, A new bike NO, Training School NO, Fitness Regime NO...... Please tell i hear you all cry..... he was showing off to his beautiful new girlfriend Manuella, long may it continue as he is “The Man”, 7th Phil Wiltshire (KTM), Mick Scarry (Honda) posted a DNF but it is possible he may still be riding round, Andy Wright (Teamsnapper KTM) started well but fried his clutch sadly, Adam Brady (Kawasaki 85) started very bright and fast but DNF due to bike problem (Think Chain) but look forward to seeing him again soon, Jonathan Starkey (KTM) posted a DNF but saw him circling and looked comfortable and confident, Jon and Matt Casey finished but do not have times or placing as of yet, Mark Barter of Dorset Police MCC also posted a DNF.

Despite the delay mid race i believe i can speak on everyone’s behalf that it was a most enjoyable well run event and top marks to the team at Surrey Police MCC and Kirsty Johnson from EPM who also assisted.
What Yellow Boots !!!

RICH PICKINGSSEEC RD 2
BAGSHOT
SURREY POLICE MCC 26-02-2012
Report by Rich Troth

What a beautiful February morning as we drove from Bournemouth to Bagshot for Rd 2 of the SEEC hosted by Surrey Police MCC, on arrival i was met by the Club's Clerk Of The Course and Secretary in the guise of Son and Father Malcolm and Richard Coles, Malcolm gave me a run down of the course he had set out (First Time as Clerk of The Course), Hazel Collins from Croydon MCC and stalwart of the SEEC arrived soon after and was setting up camp with her goodies, the quad was out and a lap of Bagshot for me and Kaka.

Took us far longer to get round than anticipated but a terrific course that used most of the vast expanse of land available 9.5 miles and sort of went from corner to corner that included the other side of the M3 (Go under a tunnel), the course really twisted in and out of the woods into some open areas also Malcolm had used so many of the climbs available from small to big, it was like the course had 4 or 5 sections that were sort of separated by fire roads which again Malcolm made the most of, i personally thought the course was well marked out and taped in the right places, what i wasn't expecting was the special test to be so long and was made to suit all whether you preferred tight and technical, liked a bit of speed and feet up or whether you simply liked Enduro going it was all there and i estimated Champs would be 5 mins on the test, Best time on the day Rich Ely Team Edmondson/Teamsnapper KTM 04.18. Well done Malcolm and the feedback from pits at the end of the day was the feeling that it was best track at Bagshot period, bearing in mind the weather was terrific..... not so sure what the comments would have been if it was raining with some of the climbs. When we got back to the paddock the area was buzzing and we had time to catch up with riders and have drink before setting off to our first post, we had young Connor Smith and the not so young Ian (Nappers) Napleton helping Teamsnapper behind the lens.

CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS
16 riders entered in the Elite class and quick off the blocks was Stevie Roper (KTM) (2nd Place)who looked scarily fast through some of the tight wooded bits as did Jamie Roper (Walters KTM) (3rd Place)i know very little about the ropers except that Stevie/Craig and Jamie had all entered and all were in the Champ Class on their immaculately and fantastically graphiced bikes, i had witnessed there skills at the Natterjack earlier in the year and seen their results in other championships so know there calibre is top notch but to see the 3 of them all together with quite different riding styles was pleasure and can see why they are so respected, sadly Craig (11th Place)went out after 9 laps, Matt Brown(KTM)(12th Place) looked more settled than previous round but only managed 8 laps and am not sure what happened, Clive Gammage(KTM)(6th Place) was riding like he was fighting for his life and was lightning quick but did have a couple of tumbles in which one ripped his shirt part off and he looked like he had been savaged by one of the locals but very entertaining rider, Legend and dare i say veteran Rob Carey(Dirty KTM) (7th Place) was having a very good ride and staying with the top group even after forgetting his goggles and had to borrow a pair although pink is not your shade Rob lol, James Burroughs (Freestyle Husqvarna) (5th Place) the current championship leader was looking his ever smooth self but knew it was going to be tough with such a talented class and only knows full well that points make prizes, Jack Turner (KTM)(4th Place) is a man you leave out of your predicted top 5 at your own peril and with his effortless looking text book style today was going to be no different, Teamsnapper Riders Aaron Smith (Midwest Husaberg) (14th Place) and Dan Lawry (KTM) (8th Place) both had bad days at the office with Aaron not being a lover of Bagshot due to previous accidents etc again fell victim to the trees in which he damaged his shoulder and Dan who just can't find that rhythm we are so accustomed to seeing and to be fair to Dan he was well under the weather and not feeling at all well but Dan being Dan knows that every point can count and today was more about damage limitation however he still managed to do 12 laps and had quite a battle with Phil Maltby (KTM) (9th Place) whom looked far happier and quicker in the slightly more technical stuff but was on song all day, Tony Williamson (KTM) i so love watching Tony simply down to his style that looks so reckless and out of shape (Meant in a nice way Tony) that i am always expecting the unexpected but today Tony looked a tad tamed and maybe was more focused on getting some points on the table am also thinking he was on different machinery but not 100% but came home 10th.Guy Chandlers (Kriega KTM) position of 13th sort of confused me as thought he had done more laps than the timing system stated and looked smooth and fast unlike his finishing position so will say no more, but what i can say is that Edmondson Racing/Teamsnapper KTM Rider and good friend Rich Ely was in a different class today with what i can only describe as damn near perfect riding and i personally loved the move under James Burroughs and too stamp his authority a little bit more he posted fastest special test in his last outing, when Kevin Ely (Rich's Dad) is smiling you don't need to look at timing system but when the smile drops he talks to Rich and Rich does listen and guess what the smile reappears next lap.....Teamwork, well done Rich but you now have a target on your back, the pressure is on ...bring on Rd 3.

EXPERT CLASS
Am beginning to think my other half Kaka is turning into the dirty old lady of Enduro as winner of this class is young enough to be her son yet she does refer to him as Hot Max, yes no other than Max Varney (Motoward/Teamsnapper) Yamaha whom if not a top Championship rider in the making i am Little Bo Peep, just take a look at his special test times and he is in the mix and to me he looked super quick through a forest section that was very very tight and naggery and i timed him through a small section that i could see a start and an end to and he posted quickest time of everyone in the Champ class he was also on new machinery, great riding Max another great father and son team but must apologise for kaka dribbling every time she talks to you lol. Runner Up and good friend George Hayes on the Teamsnapper KTM rode brilliantly and listened to his Dad Mark well and did not show off as much today and had a really focused head on and the track was built for Georges style but sadly not his bike, i felt that the 125 KTM seemed to run out of steam in places and that some or the rutted climbs just needed that bit more grunt, but George was 100% committed every time i saw him, 3rd place and looking like the Gareth Hughes of last season rode very consistently throughout although every time he passed me i was thinking that he was running his KTM on some sort of Alcohol mixture as the fumes were taking my breath away, was not until later i realised he was suffering from hangover from being totally wasted the previous night lol..... Just imagine what position you may have reached having had a sober early night.. (Note: Must have chat with Gareth's Dad lol). Daniel Rose(KTM) Came home 4th, TM rider and smiley faced jumper Dan Warner (One day Dan lol) had a great ride for 5th but over the special test his rear suspension seemed really soft (I am no expert) but his bike seemed to dig and dig at every opportunity and seemed to cost him a lot of time ??, 6th went a rider who very much impressed me and i had him a lot higher up the board Thomas Moss(Yamaha) who was exciting and fast and look forward to watching more of him, 7th to the islander and Husaberg mounted Rob Taylor who messed up his last special test but looked good throughout and has definitely gelled with his new steed, 8th went to veteran and good friend Mark Jordan(KTM) whom did not find his Mojo today but maybe a tad event rusty, 9th went to the tall red head and good friend James Foxley(KTM)who admitted himself he messed up and did not pay proper attention to the days format and missed swipes etc but no doubting the lad has talent and mark my words this boy will impress, Must mention Matt Ward (Motorite KTM) whom looked very fast and very stylish only managed 6 laps but posted fast test times.

VETERAN A CLASS
I was so looking forward to the battle of current Champion Paul Hearn (Yamaha), Euan Harrison (Teamsnapper Husaberg) and Neil Challice (KTM) but sadly Euan had a fuel problem that ended his day early but at the time he was still on time and had set the 2 fastest special test times and to say Euan was Pissed off is an understatement as Euan is so well prepared not only bike wise and physically but Euan has a mind set and i can only add that never approach a wounded animal.... am already looking forward to next round, Paul Hearn (8th Place)has not ridden for a while looked great out there but looking back at times he may have just been off the pace but still did 11 laps and scored points, but no mistaking the winner today legend/stalwart and all round Mr Nice Guy Neil Challice was on near as makes no difference on same test times as Euan and seemed to get better with each passing lap which sort of surprised me as Neil's only worry was fitness, am so hoping Neil can make the other rounds but simply due to work and family commitments Neil struggles to find the time but he has proven today that he is still a major force in such an Elite championship, 2nd went to (KTM Kriega mounted) Chris Salt who is usually happier over the more extreme terrain but looked comfortable and smooth over the bagshot terrain and probably did not realise that Kaka was stood off line for the riders except Chris and she was stood on his line so she took a tumble and i did have a snigger lol, 3rd went the ever bridesmaid Ian Mitchell (KTM) who really along with Dan Goodwin (KTM) (5th place) are the most reliable and consistent riders in the SEEC, Ian particularly today looked a far more aggressive rider today than i had previously seen or at least Thats how it showed in his riding, Another Mr Nice Guy the ever smiling Joe Beard (KTM) who did not do anything wrong and looked like he was enjoying the terrain and came home 4th, Teamsnapper Husqvarna rider and my best mate Chris Stanger has not had great start to his first season in Veteran A and as the current Vet B champion he so wants to make his presence felt and Chris has been so poorly with a blood type virus disorder that his Doctor had insisted he not ride but Chris does not do Poorly and not only managed a finish but 6th place is a great achievement and i just so hope he can get back to full fitness and prove he is a podium finisher in this class, Not sure what happened to Rich Smith (KTM) as he looked totally on song out there and i had him mentally a lot higher up the placings with his great style albeit aggressive nature but great to watch although i did get in his way and believe me he made sure i would not make same mistake twice lol, Teamsnapper Yamaha Rider Nick Dyer (9th Place)rode well within his limits and looked his usual smooth self and from what i could see made an error on 3rd test but did look a bit tired towards the days end.

CLUBMAN A CLASS

Mixed feelings about this class as sort of got all my predictions wrong except for winner Elliot Davies whose day started all wrong as on start line and serious bike problem (I think bike lost clutch/or something) on his 250 KTM so Dad forfeited his race and on jumped Elliot onto a 450 KTM he had never raced before but this just shows his talent as he really stamped his authority in this class with such a show of speed, skill and natural talent he had more of my attention today than anyone else and he has that ability to make you smile every time he passes you, today was about the others and what sort of fight would it produce, I can only comment on what I see and what I presume and Teamsnapper rider Steve White(KTM) by his own admission is not lightening quick but with such a long course and test with Steve’s text book style and visibly looking like the man to beat for runners up spot I was to say the least shocked with his 5th place which just shows how wrong I can be, even Steve said himself he felt he had ridden first class and felt good throughout, yet 4th place for another Teamsnapper rider in the guise of our Lord Jesus Christ Dan Brundell (KTM) who felt he had not done that well and had missed times etc must have been very pleased with the end result as I was for him and what Steve and Dan have is consistently placing for points, 3rd went to Alistair Brown (Freestyle Husqvarna) who to me is a very quick point to point rider and was my tip to give Elliot a run for his money but I am hoping Alistair will agree with me but I felt he was not quite 100% today and sort got into a groove that was comfortable or that’s how it appeared to me but did do a great last special test time, 2nd was a smashing young lad on a 20 year old bike..... I just don’t get this sport at times, what can I say Jason Mair (Mairco Maico) was red hot today and am sort of lost for words as I hear so many riders complaining about if only they had this model or that model or this suspension or that goodie it would make all the difference to my riding etc, well how about chucking Jason on a 2012 bit of kit and seeing how he goes, well done Jason and you still make me grin when I hear the red beast coming through the woods sadly Jason’s Dad only managed 6 laps on the other Mairco Maico , Other notables Andrew Wiseman (KTM) had great ride for 6th, Paul White 7th, David Machinek (KTM) very consistent riding from David for 8th, Andrew and James De Merist (Husqvarna) both rode well and completed the 10 laps, Matt Hubbard (Halycon KTM) had a better ride than last time and posted a finish, John Brown (Whiteways KTM) was having a blast and I think posted a top 10 result which is bloody brilliant and am always pleased to see John finish smiling, Aaron Dibnah (Dibby KTM) had a not so good day at the office and I feel the track was too long for him and is definitely better at the shorter type Hare n Hounds event but he still looked like he was having fun, LFB rider and friend Iain Judsy Judkins was not at the races today although very positive in the morning but just did not look happy on the bike and is a front runner most days, Jamie Moller (Gas Gas) was his ever consistent self and sort of gets lost in the field but very rarely DNF’s and always bags points and that’s what he did today as always, Ian Hill (Gas Gas) is another rider who again did not find his Mojo today and Ian is quick but maybe the long lap and different format did not suit but managed 10 laps, Not sure what became of last year’s Clubman B winner Marc Morley Freer (Gas Gas) who only managed 7 laps before retiring, Michael Johnson (KTM)was another that had early bath along with Chris o’grady (KTM), Joe Gordon (Gas Gas) 10 laps and Dex Bayne Powell (KTM) with 9 laps. Well as for the other Teamsnapper riders in this class it was not the best of days, James Smith(TS KTM) looked comfortable but I felt prob a bit of a fast pace and James being more of a technical nagger rider was not as quick in the quick places but very little between him and others and some of those seconds could have made a big difference, Dan Sopp (TS KTM) I saw Dan’s Dad scratching his head midway through the event as if puzzled, well I can reveal all.... it’s his first time out on a bike in ages and he looked a tad anxious as well, just relax a bit more Dan and enjoy what you love doing, Richard Morgan (TS KTM) New helmet, new hand guards and a DNF, come on Rich the remit of all TS riders is to finish, 2 events 2 DNF’s you may be losing your bonus lol , hope you sort problem out before next event mate, Tristan Robinson (TS/Maxima Oils Nick Robinson m/cycles Gas Gas) looked better than result reflects and not sure whether had problem on the going as tests were ok, Lee Barthram (TS KTM) I like Lees style and he was going well and looking at top 5 but DNF’d and not sure why as of yet, Liam Thomas (TS KTM) looked great on the going but did not look comfortable on the tests and again I think the course length and format was a struggle but looked so good every time I saw him but still good result but knows he can improve, Elliot Davies... Elliot Davies... will say one more time Elliot Davies now remember that name as its very rarely or should I say very rarely for me to seriously believe that I see such a talent that I feel they will go a long way , the last time personally for me was many years ago when I was damn good road racer with even then some 10 yrs of roads and circuits experience behind me and was one of the tips to win a particular series ..... until a young teenage kid in his first ever race wooped my arse as well as other seriously good racers into obliteration and damn near lapping us in a 10 lap race, he never raced at club level again and the rest is history Mr James Toseland and the way Elliot is in his first full season a good trials background, Dad Phil who is a good rider as well and already Elliot has won both rounds of the SEEC and is on times that could be Championship level, want to see him finish Clubman A this year and get to know the different tracks and terrains and miss Experts and go into the deep end head first, and what makes Elliot even more likeable is that he just likes to ride a motorcycle and likes to please and entertain and as myself and Kaka love is his ability to show off and please the crowd and has sort of become a crowd favourite especially among the regular hard core supporters, if you have talent ABUSE it to the extreme, Good luck my friend as all eyes will be upon you..... oh and did I mention he has become a Teamsnapper Rider lol , if there are any teams/people looking to sponsor someone young who has this raw talent please give me a shout and I will pass on any details.

VETERAN B CLASS
Very close top 2 here with Jason King getting top honours but not far behind Teamsnapper rider Colin Cowley (KTM) on board the 500 beast which growls at me even when parked, 3rd went to the ever consistent and likeable Andrew Sharp (KTM) who rode well throughout and liked his line through one of the climbs that was littered with slower riders, Teamsnappers very own legend in the guise of Peter Lawry (KTM) who could make himself look so much younger if he wore his son’s (Dan Lawry) race kit (and sillier Kaka just shouted) and he would be the trendiest veteran, the circuit suited Peter and his years of experience and seriously looked like he enjoyed his day more than Dan, 5th went to Michael Stradwick (KTM) whom I have not spoken to this year or he could be avoiding me looked like a force to reckoned with for the rest of the season, 6th went to Husaberg mounted Peter Moller whom I know would be delighted with that finish in such good company, was great to see Croydon’s Colin Fox (KTM) post a finish with 10 laps and not be the usual Samaritan and sacrificing his own ride to help others , LFB rider Kevin Reid (AG Lifts/JCM Construuction KTM) did not have such a good ride as previous round and only managed 6 laps, Carl Mexter with a very TS stickered up KTM looked that he was having fun out there and looked far more comfortable than his 6 laps suggest ! Other Notables Nick Littlecott (KTM) 10 laps, Stephen Cooksley(KTM) 9 laps, Steve Scott (KTM)10 laps, Ian Mace 10 laps, Brian Torr (KTM)9 laps, Paul townley (KTM) 9 laps, Carl Smye (Gas Gas) 7 laps, Nicholas Ford (Husqvarna)9 laps, Diccon dadey (KTM)3 laps.

CLUBMAN B CLASS
And the biggest class of the day with some 55 riders I believe, with Kingston Rider Robin Scarry (Honda) who literally scared the shit out of Kaka who was yet again in the wrong place when Robin posed for me coming over a jump with legs akimbo with one boot missing Kaka’s mush by a few inches, it made me laugh even more when Kaka in her police officers voice shouted to me whilst scrambling back to her feet “Did you get his number” lol , I might add that Robin was in fact in the middle of the jump that only had one line and the reason he nearly garrotted my beloved (yeah right) was because she was stood in the middle of the track, (Women Eh), great ride Robin and I know from just watching you that its more about enjoyment than anything else, 2nd went to Teamsnappers good friend and one of our first ever customers KTM mounted Andrew Gilden who really excelled on this track and format,3rd went to Felix Warren the youngster from the Kingston club, 4th to Lee Sims from the Witley Club, 5thth to LFB rider Martin Biles (Honda)whom I was so pleased to see get a result as Martins luck always seems to have the word Bad written in front of it, well done Martin much deserved and best we have seen you ride for a long time, PMCRC and Teamsnappers very own Shane(I will not Stand) Babey(KTM) (6th Place)whom I am sure would have shaken Martin Biles Throat..... sorry hand for beating him hee hee, another TS friend Dom Wilson (7th) who again seemed to revel in the long lap and different format, 8th Sean Trask on the Teamsnapper Husaberg who is now back to good health and I think we will see him climb the board even higher over the season, 9th to Teamsnappers quiet man in the guise of Colin Smith (KTM) (Father of James and son of Ted’s) who I am sure will be pleased with a top ten in such a massive field , 10th and on a bit of a roll at the moment Husqvarna mounted LFB rider Zade Alassad who has definitely found something that has gelled and simply looks happy and comfortable on his bike. Other Notables the colourful brothers Dan and Matt Isard (KTM)(yes the ones you need sunglasses to watch) both posted 7 laps, Hans Gilham (KTM) 7 laps, Myles Morley Freer (Gas gas)6 laps, Thomas Soanes (3 laps), Dan Catt (KTM) 7 laps, Sam Dimmock(KTM) 7 laps, Richard Jones whom had a great ride and if my memory is correct was smiling every lap (Gas Gas)7 laps , Rick Gardner (KTM)7 laps, Mark Horswell (Honda) whom I saw break down twice which ended in a retirement for the tall man. Teamsnapper riders, The wonderful man from Kingston Club Bernie Coyne (KTM) 7 laps, Darren Giggs (KTM) rode a bit like his old school report “Can do better” lol, Daniel Weight (Yamaha) who got a bit frustrated and threw all his toys out of the pram and sulked (lol.. only kidding Dan), Andy Marriner (KTM) 7 laps and rode well but was not a happy bunny on the test otherwise would have placed a lot higher, Chris Welch 7 laps which was great result for the big man, Oh and not forgetting the once named “Fat Filletter of Farnbrough” Rob Mussell on board the Wood’s Meaty sounding Katoom who completed the full 7 laps at a good pace which can only be good news after such a hard slog back to fitness, am sure Rob will be knocking the top 10 soon.

SPORTSMAN CLASS
My ex Sparring partner who goes from strength to strength Big John Anderson (KTM)who at his own admission is not the fastest or fittest riders our there but what John has is Mettle and Determination and a will to finish any event no matter what you throw at him and I so want the Big man to win this title and today it showed what endurance and determination can do ..... enough of that bollocks, John why don’t you try and get up a bit earlier and get to the events a tad earlier instead of your last minute panics with you and your lovely Lesley running around and get settled before the start, for you guys that don’t know John is that at most events John is the last to sign on and it has be known for the event to have started whilst John is still signing on lol, great ride John. 2nd went to Witley Rider Martin Burke (Husaberg), 3rd to Teamsnapper/Bahnstormer KTM rider Jason saint , 4th Lee Walls KTM from the South Yorkshire Police, 5th to Teamsnapper Newbie Andy Playne (KTM) , 6th Martin Sams (KTM) 7th to Teamsnappers Tich Marshfield (Ktm).Other Notables Daniel Lucas (Honda) who did stop and gave me a lesson in sign language managed 6 laps, so thanks for that Dan lol, Matthew Haggart (Yamaha) 6 laps, Jarrod Pearson (Husqvarna) 6 Laps, Rob Giles (Gas Gas) 6 laps and I will stick by my promise and won’t mention your pink boots, Shaun Hayward (KTM) 6 laps, Gavin Terry (KTM) 3 laps. Teamsnapper Riders , Alex Dyne (KTM) 9th whom looked liked he really enjoyed the going, Jack Coyne (Yamaha) on his first enduro event managed 3 laps before falling in love with a tree but has laid down the gauntlet to brother Matt (KTM) for the rest of the season which will not result in brotherly love more like Coyne Carnage, talking of Coyne’s Bernie’s brother and the boy’s Uncle was not going to let the whipper snappers tease him and beat Matt by a very slim margin (Unlike John hee hee only joking John) am sure Matt will be seeking revenge, Mark Stanley 6 Laps (Bahnstormer BMW), and of course another old sparring partner of mine who had a good day in the office was Stewart Churchyard (Yamaha) who again always hates not to finish. What a fantastic event put on by the Surrey Police MCC and the feedback from riders was what a great course, the only negativity when using such a big expanse of land that is used fairly often is that of course cutting especially when arrows are used instead of tape, we witnessed on more than one occasion today but we don’t whether deliberate or not, so to the riders I stopped and made you aware of what you had done was not personal to you but was about fair play to all and I whole heartily apologise if I came across quite animated.

Surrey Police @ Bagshot
Report & Photo by Richard Troth

What a cracking course set out by Surrey Constabulary MCC, i have been to Bagshot many a time but this course was really well thought out and as usual with SCMCC the times were very tight...in fact too tight was the word round the paddock..... the proof was in the pudding as they say as i am sure (not 100%) but everyone had a time penalty somewhere.

I myself rode 2 laps (Not bad for old boy) and it was tough, some mega climbs and drops with some very tricky trials like bits and as usually with Bagshot the fast fire roads and narrow in field forest bits which were a nightmare for the faster riders to get past the slower ones.

Dan Lawry reigning champion was first away in the Championship class, we still have not seen Dan at his best this season so far due to niggling injury and a recent change of bike but i can guarantee he will improve his placings as the season progresses, Ollie Moyce was the star of the day and everytime he saw my camera he was showboating, he never looked once out of his comfort zone and had more in reserve if needed, hopefully this will kickstart Ollies season as he and the Kawasaki have now gelled.well done Ollie a great ride and a pleasure to watch, runners up spot fell to the very talented KORR rider James Giddings who made a small error on special stage one which cost him 20 seconds, 3rd went to Clive Gammage KTM who is having a cracking season so far.

The Expert class was won by the ever improving Max Varney on his Yamaha, he really was the star in this class today and may have been pushed harder by runner up Matt Brown KTM if had not had crashed so heavily early on, i witnessed Matt's crash and most other riders would have called it a day but Matt is rough and tough and i am still surprised he finished let alone in runners up spot and for me was rider of the day, 3rd spot went to Isle of Wight man and good friend of Teamsnapper Robert Taylor on his Gas Gas, Robert had to work hard for that podium place as Dan Warner very hot on his heels.

Veteran A class was won by Neil Challice KTM who showed his talents on the special tests and looked very smooth out there, 2nd and 3rd spot went respectively to the RAF riders Sean Davies and Paul Hearn who rode very close to each other which was very entertaining for spectators and as they say "you must beat your team mate first and foremost" which i am sure was etched into their throttle hand.

Clubman A was won by Kingston club rider Gareth Hughes KTM who was Mr consistant not just during the enduro but during the special tests and deserved the win however he could have been pushed that little bit harder if runner up Ashley Stokes Honda and 3rd place George Hayes KTM had not made some small errors but some great riding/racing by the top 3, George Hayes is barely oput of nappies (Sorry George) but for such a young rider he has an adult head especially in the trickier/harder conditions and feel he has a good future in the sport.

Veteran B was won by my good friend Chris Stanger Husqvarna who is the most laid back rider in the history of the sport, Chris excelled in the special tests and a big well done from Teamsnapper, runner up spot went to KTM mounted Andrew sharp who had an excellent ride but was pushed by the ever enthusiastic Manny Bernardez whom has been out for a while with knee injury and is still not 100% fit but lookout as when he is fit he will be always in the top mix of things, great to see you back Manny.

Clubman B was biggest class of the day and was won by Sidcup club rider Alexander Bayne Powell KTM who again rode very consistantly throughout the day and from my outlook made very few mistakes, runner up spot went to Marc Morley Freer Husaberg who seems to improve each time out and won;t be long before he goes to Clubman A, 3rd spot went to Lee Boulden KTM who had to earn that spot from a few riders hot on his heels.

Sportsman Class was definitely not won by me (Joke lol), well done to winner RAF rider Alex Leverson KTM as very tough course for Sportsman, runner up was the ever regular and finisher John Anderson, 3rd spot went to Kingston rider Daniel Catt KTM.
