Taddy clinches 2014 SuperEnduro World Championship in Tours, France Taddy Blazusiak has secured a fifth FIM SuperEnduro World Championship title following an overall event win at the sixth and final round of the 2014 SuperEnduro series held in Tours, France. Starting the closing round of the series in a commanding position, Taddy wasted no time in securing the 2014 SuperEnduro title by winning the nights opening final in Tours. That, added to the fact that the KTM racer finished ahead of his closest championship rival David Knight in the Superpole qualifying session, meant the title was his. With his focus for the event very much securing the world title, in ending the second final as runner-up an overall event win was also very much on the cards. And in topping the series closing race, Taddy brought his participation in the 2014 SuperEnduro World Championship to a perfect close by securing the overall event win his fourth outright win of the 2014 championship having stood atop the podium in Liverpool, Belo Horizonte (Brazil), Barcelona and Tours. Taddy Blazusiak: Its amazing to think that this is my fifth SuperEnduro championship. Its been an incredible five years with some great moments and some tough times, but to finally get this championship won is amazing. My plan was simple I wanted to stay ahead of David Knight in the Superpole and then win the first final. That would be enough to secure the championship, and thats what I managed to do. Once I knew that the championship was safe I decided to go for the overall event win as well, which I wasnt thinking about before the race. I felt good in second in the opening final, but I could see that Bellino was tiring a little. I felt strong and pushed hard for the last two laps and got the win I needed. Although I got second in the second race I still felt like I could get the overall win. The last race went really well and to end the series with the overall win here in France, and with the title, is just great its been another great championship.
Blazusiak On Top Form In Barcelona Edging one step closer to a record breaking fifth consecutive world title, KTM Enduro Factory rider Taddy Blazusiak produced a flawless performance at the penultimate round of the SuperEnduro World Championship to secure the overall win. Taking three race wins from three starts, Blazusiak deservedly put himself on the top step of the winner's podium inside the Palau Sant Jordi stadium in Barcelona, Spain. Entering the event with a comfortable 18--]point advantage in the championship standings, the KTM rider quickly set about asserting his position at the head of the field. On a track that was incredibly slippery and demanding, the Polish rider posted the second fastest time in Super Pole qualification to take the second gate pick for final #1. Quickly disposing of rival Alfredo Gomez, Blazusiak moved to the front of the field and secured his first win of the night. Avoiding the carnage in final #2, the KTM rider found himself out front at the end of lap one. Remaining mistake free for the seven--]lap race he recorded his second victory of the night. Capping it off with his hat trick of wins in final #3, Blazusiak took the top step of the overall winner's podium in Barcelona. Now, with just one round of the series remaining, Blazusiak holds a 39--]point lead in the championship standings and moves one step closer to securing his fifth world title. The SuperEnduro World Championship concludes with the final round of the season in Tours, France on February 22. Taddy Blazusiak: "What I can I say! It's been a fantastic event for me. Winning all three races was exactly what I was hoping to do. Unfortunately I didn't make it a clean sweep by topping the Super Pole but the second fastest time is still a good effort. The track in Barcelona was incredibly slippery. It was hard to find a good feeling with the dirt . you needed to be so precise in your throttle control because one small mistake could result in a crash. Even with the reversed start for final #2 my starts were on the money and that made a huge difference. I was able to get to the front of the field pretty quickly and once there I could ride a comfortable pace. With just one round left things are getting serious. I feel like Ifm in a really good position and even though there's still 63 points up for grabs in France I'm confident that I can bring home the title. My riding is as good as it has ever been and right now, I'm ready to end this series on a high". Results . FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, Rnd5 Prestige (Overall) 1. FIM SuperEnduro 2014, Round 4 Blazusiak Maintains SuperEnduro Championship Lead Reigning FIM SuperEnduro World Champion Taddy Blazusiak sits 18 points clear of his nearest rival and at the top of the 2014 SuperEnduro World Championship standings with two rounds remaining. Finishing second overall at the fourth round of the series in Guadalajara, Mexico, Taddy finished with a 1/3/2 scorecard on the night, missing out on the top step of the overall podium by just one--]point. Securing a start--]to--]finish race win in the first of the three finals, Taddy could manage only third in the reversed order start of final #2. Knowing that he had a very real chance of claiming the overall event win, Taddy opted simply to take no risks in the third and last final. Leader early on, when passed by eventual winner Mathias Bellino, Taddy decided not to fight for the race win. Despite giving up his chance of the overall win, he ensured that he remains at the top of the SuperEnduro World Championship standings. Two rounds of the 2014 SuperEnduro World Championship remain, starting with the penultimate event in Barcelona, Spain on February 9th. Taddy Blazusiak: I knew that starts would be super--]important here in Mexico because the track was very one lined. I got two great starts, which really helped me. But that reversed order start of the second final was a lottery like it always is. It's difficult when you know that you're leading the championship, and that there are not too many races to go. I have to be always thinking . thinking if I need to take risks and win races, or be careful and maintain my championship advantage. I head back to Europe now with an 18--]point lead, which is great. The altitude really did make a big difference here, so after qualifying I changed my gearing and that made a big improvement. Winning the first final set me up well for a good night. Third was as good as I could do in the second race, but that was ok. In the last race I got another great start and lead. I knew that Bellino would be fast, but I wasn't going to risk anything because he's not challenging for the championship. Knight was behind me, which for the championship was important, and although I knew I wasn't going to get the overall on the night I wasn't prepared to risk anything. Overall, It's been a great couple of races here in South America. I'm really looking forward to racing in Barcelona" SuperEnduro World Championship, Round 4, Mexico . Prestige class Final

Blazusiak big in Brazil: wins SuperEnduro Rd.3 Red Bull KTM Factory rider Taddy Blazusiak delivered a top performance in Rd. 3 of the FIM SuperEnduro Championship held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil Saturday. The reigning champion picked up the Superpole and a 1-3-1 result in the three finals and consolidates his championship points lead. The Polish factory rider was the big winner with UKs David Knight finishing second overall and Alfredo Gomez of Spain in third. Taddys teammate Jonny Walker of Britain was fourth after having some difficulty with arm pump. Blazusiak warmed to the occasion and the enthusiasm of the large crowd crowd to deliver a stunning ride in the Superpole and the opening Prestige class final when he got away badly, crashed twice but still crossed the line three seconds ahead of Knight. KTM Enduro Team Manager Fabio Farioli said he had delivered a great ride in the opening race, had salvaged third in the second race after three separate crashes and then came back well in the third race to pick up a total of 58 points on the night. Farioli also said Walker rode well in the opener and was out in front when he lost positions due to arm pump. Farioli: Taddy was really brilliant tonight, especially in the opening race where he made a great recovery to go on and win. Jonny was also leading in the second race but crashed and finished fourth, he said. Walkers 3-4-3 result netted him 44 points and he is now fourth in the championship standings. Details The next round is in Mexico on January 25.
Finishing second overall at round two of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, KTM Enduro Factory Team rider Taddy Blazusiak maintains his lead in the 2014 SuperEnduro title chase. After his dominating performance at round one of the series in Liverpool, Blazusiak had high hopes of a repeat performance on home soil in Lodz, Poland. Getting his night off to the best possible start by topping the all--]important Super Pole, the KTM rider looked set to do exactly that. Grabbing the holeshot in Final #1, Blazusiak pushed hard to distance himself from the chasing pack. But a small mistake resulted in a costly crash for the Polish rider and he slipped outside of the top ten. Battling his way back through the field, he just missed out on a top three result and placed fourth. With the start order reversed for Final #2, Blazusiak found himself boxed out in the first corner. Struggling to make progress, and crashing on more than one occasion, he claimed an eighth place result. Determined to make amends for a difficult night and knowing that a chance of a podium result was still possible, Blazusiak attacked Final #3 hard. Starting upfront, he battled with Mathias Bellino for a couple of laps before breaking away for the race win. Claiming the final race win of the night, Taddy ended his home race in second overall and comfortably maintains his championship lead. Taddy's next race is round three of the SuperEnduro series in Brazil, January 18th 2014. Taddy Blazusiak: It's always a little disappointing not to win but overall. I'm pleased with my result, even if I couldn't deliver a winning result at home. I felt good during the morning qualification and after a couple of changes to the bike I felt ready for the Super Pole. My s peed was good and I was able to set the fastest time and gain those extra three points. I was very motivated for Final 1 . maybe a little too motivated because shortly after I got a great start I crashed. It took too long to remount and I was left playing catch up. I rode as hard as I could and managed to get back to fourth. I don't like the reversed start for Final #2 and it just didn't go right for me. Eighth was the best I could do. Entering Final #3 I knew there was still a chance of finishing with a strong overall result so I was determined to give it my best shot. I got the holeshot and battled with Mathias Bellino for a few laps. Towards the end of the race I pushed on and was able to win by a couple of seconds. I'm pleased to have ended the night with a win. Even though it wasn't the winning overall result I had hoped for I've still got a good lead in the championship heading into the winter break" Results . Taddy wins 2013 AMA Endurocross title At the end of one of the most dramatic AMA Endurocross races ever KTM's Taddy Blazusiak secured the result he needed (finishing in front of team mate Mike Brown) to claim a fifth consecutive AMA Endurocross championship. Needing only to beat team--]mate Mike Brown, irrespective of position, to secure a record breaking fifth straight title Taddy endured arguably the most eventful Endurocross race of his career. Falling during the opening lap in the torturous lop pile section, Blazusiakfs bike became trapped underneath two other bikes, which allowed Brown, who earlier made a mistake, to draw level once again. Thankfully, despite several more mistakes Taddy managed to get ahead once again and in finishing the race fifth he claimed the 2013 Endurocross title, his fifth consecutive AMA championship. Setting the fastest time during the Hot Lap session Taddy earned himself first pick for the start and rocketed into the first turn, closely followed by Brown. Banging bars with his closest championship rival on several occasions during the opening corners, Taddy went on to hold a comfortable lead half way around the opening lap and looked to be headed towards a possible race win. But his mistake in the log pile ensured what will be one of the most talked about Endurocross races of all time. A race in which Taddy, eventually, put the finishing touches to an amazing fifth straight AMA Endurocross title. Taddy Blazusiak: "That was the most important fifth place result of my career. It was a horrible race, but I did what I needed to do and I got the championship. The final was the longest, hardest, slowest final I've ever ridden, but like I said I got the result I needed and it feels great to have turned around what was a tough season and win a fifth Endurocross title. I managed to keep calm right up until the gate dropped in the main event. I felt good, had a good Hot Lap, but once the gate dropped I don't even want to remember what happened during the opening laps of the race. Once I was out of the first few corners and in the lead I should have been gone, but I made a mistake entering the log pile and that almost ended my race. I was trying to walk my bike out when I slipped and fell again, then other riders fell on top of me. I honestly thought it was over, that the championship was gone. I saw Browny beside me so I knew I had it all to do again. I managed to get back in front, and that was all I was looking to do. I didn't want to race with anyone, just stay ahead of Browny. But I was making mistakes, stalling my bike, and just making things such hard work. But finally it was Mike that made the big mistakes and got the championship. It's been a long, hard season, but winning the title again makes it so worthwhile. My team and my mechanic have been great, working hard to get this championship won. Being a five time Endurocross champion means so, so much " Results US Endurocross, round 7 1. Cody Webb (Beta) 2. Cory Graffunder (Husqvarna) 3. Kyle Redmond (KTM) 4. Colton Haaker (Honda) 5. Blazusiak Dominates Liverpool SuperEnduro KTM Enduro Factory Team rider Taddy Blazusiak has made the perfect start to the defence of his FIM SuperEnduro World Championship by claiming a hat trick of race wins at round one of the 2014 series in Liverpool. Intent on getting his championship campaign off to the best possible start, Blazusiak won all three races inside the Echo Arena while also topping the Super Pole qualification session. Arriving to Liverpool fresh from his victory at the penultimate round of the AMA EnduroCross series, the KTM rider quickly got up to speed around the technical Liverpool course. Topping the Super Pole qualification by over half a second, the Polish rider secured first pick for the start. Taking an inside gate position for Final #1, the KTM rider grabbed the all-important holeshot and took a comfortable start-to-finish victory. With the start order reversed for Final #2, the defending champion opted to start on the outside of the second row. Finding a clear piece of track, Blazusiak immediately worked his way inside the top three. Hunting down race leader Dani Gibert, he made a pass stick on the penultimate lap to take the win. Taking the holeshot in the third and final race of the night, he avoided trouble and eased his way to a third victory. Securing maximum points - including an additional three points for topping the Super Pole - Blazusiak already holds an 18-point advantage over his nearest rival. Next weekend, November 23, will see Blazusiak aim to secure his fifth consecutive AMA EnduroCross Championship, at the final round of the series in Las Vegas. Taddy Blazusiak: "It's been an incredible start to the SuperEnduro championship for me. Winning all three races and also topping the Super Pole has been better than I expected. In practice I was worried about my results as I struggled to find a good setup. The course was very technical and difficult to find a good line on. I knew my starts would be extremely important and tonight they didn't let me down. I holeshot the first and last races and once out front I was pretty comfortable setting the pace. In Final #2 I somehow managed to find a few clear lines and get to the front of the pack. I got into the lead with about two laps to go and was able to win. Overall I'm really happy with how I rode tonight. Next weekend is the final round of the EnduroCross series in Las Vegas. I'm tied on points for the title so hopefully things will go my way and I can win championship number five." Results - FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, Rnd1
Red Bull KTM Factorys Polish rider Taddy Blazusiak picked up his second victory on Saturday night in Boise Idaho at the penultimate round of the 2013 AMA EnduroCross Seriesto draw equal with Factory FMF/KTM rider Mike Brown in the championship points. Brown, who led the table before the race, was fourth on the night. Brown got away well in the first heat but crashed in the first corner, then again in the wood chips moments later. He regrouped in sixth place, moved to fourth but finally finished in fifth and returned to the pits to prepare for the LCQ. Taddy took the holeshot in his heat and led the first lap before he tipped over and allowed Gary Sutherlin to make a pass for the lead. He recovered the lead in lap two and went on to pull a 14-second victory gap. In the last chance qualifier Brown took the holeshot but fell again in the wood chips. He rebounded and began to chase down Kevin Rookstool in the lead. They were side by side in the final dash but both had difficulty in the wood chips. Brown was first out to take the win and transfer to the main event. The riders then lined up for their hot lap to determine gate pick order. Brown was second fastest and Blazusiak was fourth to set up a battle between the two KTM riders. It was Brown who took the holeshot when the gate dropped but Taddy was right behind him. Then when Brown got stuck on a rock on the first lap both Blazusiak and Cody Webb slipped by. Blazusiak and Webb rode wheel to wheel as they battled for the lead then Webb edged out Blazusiak as they rounded the corner, knocking Blazusiak off the track. On the sixth lap, Webb also went down in the wood chips and Blazusiak closed up to take the lead. He then pulled away and was seven seconds in front at the drop of the flag. Meanwhile, behind the leaders Brown stalled his bike with three laps to go and allowed Colton Haaker to make a pass. Brown recovered and went on to finish fourth. The two KTM riders now head into the final round at Las Vegas on November 23 with 130 points each, a 20-point advantage over Webb. Brown has scored more victories this season but Blazusiak, who has dominated the competition in recent seasons is looking to retain his title. Blazusiak Tops Podium at Ontario EnduroCross Red Bull KTM Factory rider Taddy Blazusiak of Poland returned to the top of the EnduroCross Championship podium on Saturday night in Rd. 3 of the competition at the Citizens Bank Arena. Ontario, CA, but with FMF/KTMs Mike Brown and points leader right on his wheel. Blazusiak and Brown, winner of the first two rounds, dominated their respective heats to easily transfer to the main event. Blazusiak chose the KTM 250 XC-F for this round saying: The bike is great and feels much lighter than my previous bike so I can easily maneuver around the track. When the gate dropped for the main event, it was Brown who launched off the line first and came around the first corner and into the rock section with the lead. Blazusiak was right behind him in second position. The two teammates pulled away from the rest of the field and began their race long battle. Brown held the lead through the first half of the race before he made a mistake in the firewood section that allowed Blazusiak to close the gap. The next corner, Blazusiak made his pass for the lead. Brown did not let Blazusiak out of his sight and the two remained close for the remaining laps. When the checkered flag flew, it was Blazusiak who held on for the win with Brown finishing second. Cody Webb rounded out the podium in third. It feels so good to be back on top, commented Blazusiak. I have been working really hard and I am glad I was able to challenge for the win and take the victory. Mike is a tough competitor and it is good to always have someone push me. Brown commented, Im glad to be on the podium for my team, but of course, I would rather be on the top step. Taddy Blazusiak has placed fourth overall in the Men's Enduro X final at the Barcelona X Games after crashing heavily on the final lap of the race while battling for the win. Entering the event eager to repeat his winning performance at X Games Brazil, Blazusiakfs race ended in spectacular style when he parted company with his 350cc KTM in mid air. Battling his way up to second position following a mid pack start in the Enduro X final, Taddy immediately set his sights on challenging for the lead. Quickly closing onto the rear wheel of race leader Mike Brown, Blazusiak pushed his team--]mate hard throughout the main event. With the course becoming increasingly one--]lined Blazusiak continued to apply pressure in the hope Brown would make a mistake. Entering the penultimate lap, Blazusiak almost found a way past when Brown stumbled on the tricky, uphill rocky turn. But with Brown holding a defensive line, Blazusiak was unable to make the pass stick. With the race almost over, Blazusiak made another charge for the lead on the final lap. But a big mistake on a high--]speed double jump resulted in the KTM rider crashing out of contention for the race win. Despite the spectacular get--]off, which resulted in bent handlebars and an injured wrist, Blazusiak remounted and was able to finish the race in fourth position . missing out on a medal result by less than eight seconds. Taddy Blazusiak "Disappointed to miss out on the win or at the very least a medal result. I was having a great race with Mike Brown for the victory but it all ended for me on the final lap. We were racing on the very limit. During the race I felt like I had a little bit more speed than Brown and was doing everything I could to find a way past. But the track was becoming very one--]lined and it was difficult to overtake. On the penultimate lap he made a mistake on the rocky uphill and I almost squeezed passed him, but he held his line and kept the lead. On the final lap I knew I needed to try and make something happen. I pushed hard to close the gap but coming up to the double jump I got out of shape. I'm not sure exactly what happened but I had to jump off midair. I landed awkwardly and hurt my wrist. My handlebars were bent badly but I managed to finish the race in fourth. It's a shame to have ended such a great race like that but I suppose that's part of racing. You have to take the good with the bad. I'llget my wrist checked out to make sure everything is okay and come back stronger at the next round in Munich Results Enduro--]X Final, Barcelona 1. Mike Brown (KTM) 10:59.579; 2. Looking
back on the Endurocross opener Fresh from his recent X-Games Gold Medal winning performance in Brazil, KTM Enduro Factory Team rider Taddy Blazusiak arrived in Las Vegas with high hopes of making a winning start to the defence of his AMA EnduroCross Championship. Unfortunately for Blazusiak things didnt go to plan. Battling through an off night the four-time Endurocross champ placed second overall in the nights main event Obviously youre disappointed at having not made a winning start to your 2013 Endurocross campaign, but surely a second place result isn't too bad? Taddy Blazusiak: No, its not too bad. Just not the result I was hoping for. To have an off-night like I did but to still finish second overall is really good. It seems that it takes a little while for me to get up to speed in the EnduroCross series. Last year I ended the first night of the championship in third place, so at least this year I improved one position to finish second. Talk us through your night. How did it go? At first it wasnt the best. My afternoon Hot Lap wasnt so hot but we changed a few things for the night show. In the second Hot Lap session I was second fastest and only two-tenths off the best time. My jump off the start gate for the main event was mid pack but I managed to find a clear line in the first corner and came out of it in second place behind Mike Brown. He was riding great so I just tried to follow him. Unfortunately, I made one mistake and slipped back but then he got hung up on the final lap and I closed right back in. It was a solid race. With seven rounds and eight main events to contest its going to be a long series this year. What positives can you take away from round one? One thing thats clear is that everyone is getting faster. Only three tenths of a second split the top four guys in the Hot Lap so the competition is tough. But its a long series it doesnt end until November. Its going to be important to make the best of any bad nights you have. Like I always say you cant win the championship in the first round but you can definitely lose it. And losing this race makes me hungry to win the next one. Along with the AMA EnduroCross Championship, theres also the X Games Enduro-X series to think about. Barcelona is just around the corner, can you pick up another Gold Medal? Thats always the plan. Im very excited about the race in Barcelona and have been looking forward to it for a long time. Its the first time X-Games will take place in Europe and Barcelona is like my second home. Ill be going all out to win it, thats for sure. Finally, X-Games Brazil marked the first time an Endurocross track was taken outdoors. What do you expect in Barcelona with the track being built inside the Olympic Stadium? The weather and the humidity in Brazil played havoc with the track. It was so slick to race on that it was like riding on ice. To be honest that race was more about survival than fighting for the victory. I expect Barcelona will be much better. Bringing the track outside allows for bigger obstacles with more space between them so you can race much harder. Im looking forward to this round of the series, its going to be huge. |
