Richard Perkins wins CTR Events Winter Series Championship Round 4 at a bleak Aberbeeg.

Richard Perkins triumphs after battling with Shaun Buchan and awesome winter weather, CTR and the team worked hard in mixed weather all week to build a Enduro race track with a great mix of cross country going of slippery farm fields fast tyre cleaning blasts a few hard loop options there was plenty to enjoy, Swopping and changing the lead was Shaun Buchan and Richard Perkins and with 1 hour 15 minutes into the race Buchan appear pushing his bike after running out of fuel yards away from pitting giving Perkins the breathing space he need to pull a gap and leading the race all the way to the finish.

At 11am in the wet misty winter weather CTR dropped the starter flag to release the already wet Enduro Hare & Hound racers with 1st away the Expert class with Shaun Buchan grabbing the holeshot with Rhys Perkins and Derry Milling, Next away the Vets with Martin Paosila-Jones getting the holeshot from Ryan Leary with the rest a bike length behind, Next released the Clubman with Sonny Grabbing the holeshot from Jordan Ridgeway, Aaron Martin and Craig Thomas who if you press pause on diggers film you will see Craig looking down at his speedo or something and not where he's going lol, Next away was the Sportsman-Novice class with Mathew Wimpy Jones getting the holeshot from Scott Hoskins, Lewis James and Adam Page.

At around 5 minutes the 1st of the riders appeared at the Hard loop option rock garden with Shaun Buchan still leading from Tommy Francombe, Ryan Bawn, Derry Milling with Richard Perkins now in 5th place and on the move over at lap scoring some minutes later it was still Buchan leading from Tommy Francombe, Ryan Bawn and Richard Perkins now upto 4th The 1st none Expert class around was Vet Expert rider Martin Paosila-Jones with Ryan Leary, Rydian Evans, David Stokes and Mark Beecham hot on his tail, Next group around was Clubman class rider Aaron Martin with Sonny Parker, Jordan Ridgeway and Nicki Jones close behind, Next through was Vet Clubman Toby Bevan with a fare lead over Andy Taylor who also had a fare over the next Vet Clubman Owen Cooper, 1st Sportsman around was Grant Boyce with the rest of the pack right on him Mathew Jones, Adam Page, Mathew Davies, Sam Skyreme and Co.
Half way through the race after lead swopping with Richard Perkins Buchan ran out of fuel pushing his bike back to the pits leaving Perkins to now settle down and pull a comfortable lead over Buchan and with Tommy Francombe back inform Buchan had to get on it because Francombe was just a few minutes behind with Richard Perkins now able to settle and pull away giving himself the chance of the extra lap with a well-deserved win on 12laps with Shaun Buchan finishing 2nd on 11laps and Tommy Francombe 3rd just a few minutes behind also on 11laps, In the Vets Expert battle and after falling of a ladder on Monday Ryan Leary and his injuries still managed not only to race but race and win taking the class win on 10laps Rydian Evans was 2nd just 1 minute behind also on 10laps and David Stokes finished 3rd another minute later also on 10laps, The Vets Clubman was won by again by Toby Bevan on 9laps with Andy Taylor 2nd also on 9laps and Adrian Stag 3rd on 8laps, In the super competitive Clubman class battle it was Aaron Martin with a well-deserved class win with 10laps 2nd was Jordan Ridgeway just 2 minutes behind also on 10laps 3rd was Morgan Davies just under 3 minutes behind also on 10laps, In the Sportsman class it was with CTR new comer Grant Boyce who was flying around taking the win on and impressive 10 laps with CTR regular Brad Williams once again taking a podium in 2nd also with an impressive 10 laps Mathew Jones was 3rd with 9laps.

Richard Perkins wins a dramatic winter series championship
Round 2 at Aberbeeg

Richard Perkins came to life in extreme hurricane weather conditions to take the win at CTR Events winter series championship round 2, After a hard week of venue moving and mixed weather conditions team CTR designed and built a cross country Enduro race track that would put up with any weather conditions in anticipation of what would come their way and with all weather reports stating that we were getting hit hard with 80mph winds and sideway rain late on Sunday afternoon the might of mother nature was giving us all a taster of what was coming.

At the start line and with all the keen brave and crazy dirt bike racers ready and waiting to be released CTR dropped the starter flag for the experts with Danny Morris grabbing the holeshot from Neil Thomas as they upped the gully and rounded the road gate before getting into a 300 yard sprint to a large water splash and hitting to 90 right, Next away the Vets and with Ryan Leary getting his 300 2t away with a clear holeshot, Next set loose the clubman and with Liam Gooding getting the holeshot with the rest hot in pursuit, Finally the Sportsman class were unleashed with CTR new comer Chris Poole getting the holeshot from Brad Williams and with the rest of the riders disappearing out of sight and sound all eyes were focused on the laps scoring area and with some 12 minutes gone the sound of 2 stroke dirt bikes were coming in the distance with a close bunch of experts appearing into sight it was Neil Thomas crossing the line with a time of 14:16 in the lead with Richard Perkins, Rhys Trilloe, Charlie Frost all real close and the rest of the experts hot on their tails, 1st none expert around was vets expert Ryan Leary with David Stokes 1 second behind with vets clubman rider Toby Bevan leading the vets clubman racers around with the closest competitor to him Alan Dorel some 3 minutes later, 1st clubman around was young Sonny Parker on his new 250 enduro xc bike with Nicky Jones, Jordan Ridgeway and Liam Gooding right on him, 1st sportsman around was Ryan Nightingale with Chris Poole a near 2 minutes behind followed by the rest of the pack of hare and hounds enduro racers.

As the race progressed and with the top spots swopping and changing like the weather people were dropping out with water affected bikes, a few injuries, people unable to see anymore, mechanical failures, punchers it was all going on but with a race to win and class wins up for grabs it was between Richard Perkins, Neil Thomas, Rhys Trilloe, Derry Milling and Roger Holland with Perkins, Thomas Trilloe having a swop around in the overall and the expert class, The vets expert class was between Ryan Leary , David Stokes, Jerry Box, and Terry Beecham with Dai Beer out of the standings after stopping to help fallen riders Dai kept riding around and in some kind of strange way seemed to be enjoying his self hats off to you Dai St Beer as Stokes, Box and Leary swopped and changed places it was David Stokes taking the win from Jerry Box and Ryan Leary, In the vets clubman battle it was between Toby Bevan and Gary Standen with Bevan taking the win from Standen, In the clubman class it was close between Jordan Ridgeway, Sonny Parker and Nicky Jones with Ridgeway in command he had to keep on it as Sonny Parker was riding well and was always there pushing behind as the horn sounded for the finish and CTR popped the chequered flag out it was Nicky Jones the 1st man to get it just missing out on the extra lap leaving Ridgeway and Parker out on the extra lap with Ridgeway taking the win from Parker with Jones taking a well deserved 3rd, The sportsman class went to Dan Davies with Chris Poole 2nd and Brad Williams 3rd.

The battle for the overall win and the expert class went to Richard Perkins on an impressive 11 laps from Derry Milling on 10 laps with Neil Thomas in 3rd on 10 laps Neil crossed the line with 1 eye closed laughing and saying I can't see lol, CTR said you're not the only 1 people crossed the line saying I got no brakes I can't see but they all were smiling and laughing at the crazy sense of achievement racing in the extreme weather conditions the riders all thank CTR and the team for getting and running an event on a day like this, Team CTR would like to thank everyone involved and look forward to the next challenge CTR WSC round 3 17.11.13 venue TBC.

Diesel Derek's Back to his winning ways

At the end of the 2 and a half hour race it was Derek Bawn taking the win from 2nd placed Gethin Francombe both on 10 laps Richard Perkins with a well-deserved 3rd, The Vets expert battle was commanded and lead from the 1st lap by Carl Davies to take the win. Matt Ridgway wins again at CTR EVENTS SSC Rd5 at the fantastic Cwmcarvan Monmouth.

Matt Ridgeway again made the sort trip over the bridge in to Monmouth on the Welsh England boarder to dominate the race from start to finish, On Saturday evening he walked the 6 mile cross country race track and said he couldn't wait to get his teeth in to would he said was 1 of the best XC Enduro tracks he has seen, CTR and the team had been hard at work all week setting out one of the best tracks they had built with fast flowing fields twisting through trees with jumps and drop offs step ups, streams, water splashes, hills, logs, stone beds, easy and hard loops, before returning in to the impressive start finish area with twists and ditches.

At the start line with all the racers ready the media out and about marshals at their posts lap scorers and spectators all ready and after a brief chat with CTR the warm your engines sign was given before then stop your engines and then CTR with silence all around dropped the starter flag to set the Expert group away and they were off over the first ditch along the straight and around the first left hand corner and it was Matt Ridgeway with the holeshot followed by Gethin Francombe TM 250 and Tyson Maytom-Jones with the rest of Experts hot on their tail Derek Bawn on his 4 stroke was last to get away and had a lot of work to do and would need to get use to his thumper quickly, Next to be let loose was the Vets class and as Dai Beer picked his new bike up after pushing the electric starter button by mistake witch sent him off and down on the floor in front of everyone and Ade Evans needed a roll of tissue after having an accident in his jeans lol, So as they all settled their self's CTR dropped the flag to set them away and it was Mark Perrot followed by Mike Crumb and Co, As the Vets all got away it was time to release the Clubman with Liam Gooding grabbing the holeshot from Jordan Ridgeway with the rest of the pack snapping at their heals, Last to be released was the big pack of Novice with Lister Morris getting the holeshot from Tyrone Jones Graham Owens, As all the riders twisted and turned and negotiated their way around the course and disappeared out of sight, At the half way point Matt Ridgeway was leading with Gethin Francombe hot on his tail they had both pulled a bit of a lead form Harvey Dark, Tyson Maytom-Jones, Richard Perkins, Rob Breakwell and Derek Bawn has now made his way up to 7th.

Lap scoring as everyone had their eyes on who would appear over the brow first! And with a first lap time of 13:12 Matt Ridgeway was leading with Gethin Francombe second 15 seconds behind third was Harvey Dark 48 seconds behind followed by Richard Perkins, Tyson Maytom-Jones and Derek Bawn, Sam Jones was the first Vets class rider around with Mark Perrott, Jim Munden, Dai Beer, Ryan Leary and Adrian Evans all a full minute behind, Jordan Ridgeway was leading the Clubman with Liam Gooding 45 seconds behind and Craig Thomas and Mark Copeland another minute behind Gooding, Scott King was the first Novice class rider around with Graham Owens hot on his tail just 6 seconds behind with the rest of the pack spread out chasing behind.

Matt Ridgeway was in perfect command of his lead even with an injured leg he pushed on and lead from start to finish, Gethin Francombe had a few problems 1 in the stream where he got stuck for a few seconds allowing Harvey Dark to catch up a derailed chain so the fight for second was on and as they went out for another lap it was Dark to appear in front of Francombe and with Dark now in second Francombe now had the problem of Derek Bawn who was now in control of his thumper and was now pushing really hard and was catching and on lap 7 Bawn pasted Francombe for third and was now pushing Dark for second it must be said that Bawn put on a great ride and on lap 10 pasted Dark to take second he was never going to catch Matt Ridgeway who was well in control of the lead and putting in consistent fast laps entertaining the crowds of spectators and media with an outstanding Hare & Hounds Enduro race performance faultless from start to finish.

The Vets class was lead from lap one to the finish with a great ride from Sam Jones with him taking the time to stop at a 1st aid point take off his boots and socks asking if he had broken his foot to then put his socks and boot back on and get going again to win the Vets Expert class great ride from Sam Jones, Mark Perrott was pushing all day to try and catch and stay in front of third place man Ryan Leary who was still getting used to his new bike a 2 stroke 300, Jones wins the class from Mark Perrott both on 11 laps with Ryan Leary Taking third on 10 laps, The Vets Clubman was won by Rob Murffin on 9 laps with Mike Crumb second on 9 laps and Andy Taylor third 9 laps.

The Clubman class was also lead from lap one by Jordan Ridgeway with Liam Gooding pushing in second and Mark Copeland in third, A great ride by young Jordan Ridgeway to take the class win on 11 laps second was Liam Gooding on 10 laps and Mark Copeland third on 10 laps, The Novice class was won by Scott King on 10 laps with Graham Owens seconds also 10 laps third was Mathew Jones on 9 laps.

Matt Ridgeway was in great race attack mode to win
CTR EVENTS SSC4 at Tre Wyn Abergavenny south Wales.

Matt Ridgeway came across the bridge to display how to win a 2 and a half hour cross country hare & hounds Enduro race on a damp summer’s day in June by 2 laps, he pushed real hard from start to finish swopping and adjusting his line choice and was very impressive over the big jump in the start field entertaining the crowds of on spectators and locals with some 20ft or so air time.

CTR and the team built a great little H&H’s race track with a great friendly start area and sweeping corners twisting and climbing its way up the black mountains through woods and up old farm tracks with big blasts and some tricky ditches, The day started with wet misty rain to keep any threat of dust at bay, And with all the riders and their machine’s all lined up and eager to get away after a brief with CTR they were set loose with the Expert class 1st away it was Matt Ridgeway grabbing the holeshot to get away and frankly never to be challenged again, Next away was the Vets class with Mike Crumb finally getting the holeshot, Next off was the Clubman class with Ryan Nash grabbing the holeshot from the rest of the hungry pack of hounds, Last set loose to attack the 4 mile XC Enduro race tract was the big class of Novice-Beginners and with Chris Jones grabbing the holeshot and all the riders now out on the course the big group of Novice-Beginners came back down into sight ready to attack the 1st ditch crossing Scott Johnson couldn’t contain himself and fell at the thought of his excitement on the straight in front of everyone doe!, As the riders squeezed their way over the ditch between the trees and the last riders disappeared out of sight the 1st of the leader Matt Ridgeway was just coming into sight with Rhys Perkins, Derek Bawn, Harvey Dark & Co not too far behind, The 1st none expert around was Vets Expert Sean O’Neill with Dan Bishop, Ryan Leary and 1st Vet Clubman Mark Beecham close behind, Liam Gooding was the 1st Clubman rider into lap scoring with Ryan Nash and Jordan Ridgeway not too far behind and eventual class winner Mark Copeland a couple of bikes later, The 1st Novice-Beginner racer through lap scoring was Paul Simons and Graham Owens.

As the race progressed and after pit stops ETC Matt Ridgeway was over a half lap ahead of the others and seemed to have the win in his pocket , Gethin Francombe had pulled put, So 2nd and 3rd was between Derek Bawn, Danny Morris and Harvey Dark and with Derek Bawn once again running out of fuel 2nd was gifted to Danny Morris who still had to work hard as Harvey Dark was still charging hard behind that’s the Expert battle ended with Matt Ridgeway winning CTR SSC4 on 23laps, Danny Morris on 21laps and Harvey Dark also on 21laps.

Vets Expert class was led from start to finish by Sean O’Neill on 20laps with Mr CTR consistent pushing for 2nd finishing on 19laps Mr steady Dai Beer taking 3rd also on 19laps, In the Vets Clubman class the winner was Mark Beecham getting back to form on 18laps with Gary Standing 2nd on 18laps and Mr Holeshot coming home in 3rd on 17laps.

The Clubman class battle was between Mark Copeland, Liam Gooding, Dan Newman, Rhys Perkins and Jordan Ridgeway with Ridgeway pulling out after 1 hour 20 minutes and Liam Goodinng having to nurse his sick stead home to top spots was between Copeland, Newman and Perkins with Mark Copeland taking the win on 19laps and Dan Newman 2nd on 19laps Rhys Perkins would take 3rd also on 19laps.

The ever bigger class of Novice-Beginners was between a bunch of mates Tyrone Jones, Graham Owens, and Owen Cooper with the rest of the pack fighting amongst each other Tyrone helping Graham out Owen Cooper trying a no hander in front of everyone at laps scoring and Digger and falling off that was really funny see diggers films the win was taken by Tyrone Jones on 18laps 2nd Graham Owens 17laps 3rd stunt boy Owen Cooper with 16laps.

It was a great days racing in wet conditions well done to all riders and helpers, CTR Marshals who work extremely hard helping riders and keeping the race flowing The CTR Girls Carla and Kerry signing on and laps scoring, the medical team and mostly the land owner and his neighbours, Next CTR Events is SSC5 28th July At the great Battle MX Brecon see you all then Thanks CTR.

Harvey Dark wins CTR EVENTS Summer Series Championship
Round 3 at the awesome Craswall.

Harvey wins a challenging yet awesome CTR race after years of trying, Dark kept his head and pushed all the way for 2 and a half hours of hill climbs, big bogs, ditches, ruts and the ever pushing pack of racers behind,

CTR set about building yet another new race track for all to enjoy we have beautiful sunshine in the beginning of the week followed by heavy rain, strong winds, and on Saturday started with rain, hours of sunshine finishing off with a big heavy down poor of hail stones and as CTR was driving away at 7pm the promise of better weather for Sunday, Team CTR spent over a week prepping this cross country race course plotting and planning at the top of the beautiful Monnow valley under the dramatic black mountains defining the Wales/England boarder we have plenty to work with but with a lot of the interesting going up the top this made for a few step hill blast to get there, With natural bumpy conquers, off cambers, Bogs and Bogs, a few ditches and one very interesting downhill bog before negotiating your way down a long steep hill then twisting and turning your way through streams around fields a finally reaching the lap so the scene was set and with a nice long start straight with a long sweeping left turn almost coming back to the start it was time to get the race under way.

With all the riders and spectators at the ready the atmosphere was full of excitement and anticipation as CTR dropped the flag to let loose the first racers it was the experts and with CTR/TMUK’s Gethin Francombe grabbing the holeshot from Jack Powell and Harvey Dark as they twisted and turned their way up out of sight CT was excited to see his race team CTR/TMUK riders Gethin Francombe and Josh Gotts first and second, Next let loose was the Vets Expert and Vets Clubman with Dan Bishop grabbing the holeshot from Ryan Leary and Andy Stagg, As the Clubman class were set off it was Jamie Weller with the holeshot from Dan Newman and Jordan Ridgeway, Last group to be let loose on this race track was the big Novice class with Jason Billam getting the holeshot from little George Saunders and Lister Morris and with all the bikes out commencing battle with the 4 mile Enduro course all eyes were set on a stream crossing to see who would appear first and after about 8 minutes it was Jack Powell with Harvey Dark, Charlie Frost and Co hot on his tail with Josh Gotts a few bikes behind, With no sign of early leader Gethin Francombe the word was that he and Gotts both crashed in the downhill bog with Gotts saying as he was flying through the air upside down he could see Francombe launching over the bars with Francombe first appearing into lap scoring in 94th place and his bike worse for wear he had to pull out, First none Expert class rider around was Vets Expert Dan Bishop with Ryan Leary and Andy Stagg right behind, Next was Clubman rider Jordan Ridgeway with a small lead from Gareth Berezinski and Jack Penhaligan, First Vets Clubman around was Martin P-Jones with Roger Billam right on him and Mark Beecham a bit later.

On lap two Harvey Dark now had the lead over Gotts and Derry Milling with the class of Tim Foreman now into 4th Kalem Hicks in 5th Jack Powell was now 6th Richard Perkins 7th and Nick Life in 8th, after about an hour the top places were between Harvey Dark, Derry Milling and Tim Foreman with the conditions and the course ever changing the top spot was now being commanded by Dark and Milling was in control of 2nd 3rd place was swapping and changing and with the overheating of 4 strokes Foreman dropped back leaving Hicks and now Charlie Frost come on the scene up for the 3rd place battle and with a miss timed pit stop Frost moved in on 3rd to take Hicks. In the Vets Expert class there were all changes with Dan Bishop dropping back Gary Newman moving up and Mr consistent Ryan Leary moving to the top spot the top 3 would now stay the same with Leary winning from Newman and Bishop now 3rd, Vets Clubman was won by Roger Billam with Martin P-Jones 2nd and Mike Crumb 3rd, The Clubman class winner was Craig Thomas looks like a change of bike and he said good line choice worked for him with Rhys Perkins 2nd from Mark Woodfine, In the Novice class the battle was greater not only the changing conditions the 2 and a half hours the biggest class was won by Craig Hale with Tyrone Jones 2nd and Lister Morris who has only been riding for about a year now he has been riding CTR EVENTS and keeps trying and pushing takes a well-deserved 3rd, A massive congratulations to all riders you competed in a great events under tough conditions we at CTR always try our best to make a race track to suit all with the weather always playing his part and showing who’s boss.

Thanks to all involved helpers super marshals who work as hard if not harder than anyone to keep things moving, The land owner, track builders, Lap scorers, Spectators and lastly the riders thank you and well done all see you all at CTR SSC4 23rd June.

Matt Ridgeway wins CTR EVENTS Summer Series Championship
Round 2 at Abergavenny.

Matt Ridgeway was awesome today to win with a commanding performance leading from the first corner all the way to chequered flag at the beautiful Cwmsteps set near the Welsh English boarder under the black mountains up the Monnow valley Herefordshire, CTR had been hard at work building a great cross country Enduro race track of just over 4 miles twisting and turning around grassy fields settled ploughed fields long blasts technical bits bridge crossings steep hill climbs burmed up corners before twisting and turning their way through lap scoring.

As all the riders were set for the start at 11am and with a brief chat with CTR the first of the groups were set loose with the Experts as Matt Ridgeway grabs the holeshot from Derek Bawn and Co, Tim Foreman was near the mid pack with Gethin Francombe last away, The next pack let lose the Vets Expert and Vets Clubman with Andy Stagg grabbing the holeshot from Mike Crumb and Roger billam, The Clubman class holeshot went to Jamie Weller with Michael Grey and Gareth Berezinski, the Novice class were last to be released with Dan Stone getting the holeshot from Michael Smith and Lister Morris, So as all the riders disappeared into the distance all eyes were now focused on the ploughed field and lap scoring to see who appear first and as the great sound of a revving 2 stroke in the distance it was Matt Ridgeway in the lead with a 13 second gap over Derek Bawn with Harvey Dark 14 seconds behind and Tim Foreman just 6 seconds behind Dark Gethin Francombe had moved up to 9th and was pushing hard on his TM 250, The first none Expert through was Vets Expert racer Ryan Leary with Sean O’Neil snapping at his heals and Vets Clubman rider Phillip George with the first of the Clubman Jamie Weller and Nikki Whiles lapping first with a big pack of hounds all bunched up and snapping behind, The first of the Novice racers around was Richard Powell a long way in front of the next in his class with Lister Morris 30 seconds later and Ian Mahoney next around.

As the race progressed the top 3 was between Matt Ridgeway with a healthy lead over Derek Bawn who seemed to be in control of 2nd and Tim Foreman was commanding 3rd with Gethin Francombe now moved into 4th with a good lead over the next rider, At around 90 minutes the racers were pitting for fuel with Bawn deciding to go the extra lap that was his downfall when he disappeared from lap scoring Tim Foreman and Gethin Francombe come around before Bawn now moving into 2nd and 3rd Bawn appeared some minutes later after running out of fuel he was now in 11th place, Matt Ridgeway and Bawn appeared in the pit area together and Ridgeway was wondering what was going on so he and Bawn stopped on a corner when Bawn explained he was a lap down after running out of fuel so all was ok they shot off again with Ridgeway back on the charge dragging Bawn along behind, Tim Foreman was in control of 2nd with the ever pressure of Gethin Francombe charging behind in 3rd.

The Vets Experts was now being lead buy Sean O’Neil with Ryan Leary in control of 2nd it was team smooth himself Dai Beer in 3rd, O’Neil was well in control of his lead with Leary pushing and making mistakes with a number of crashes and torn race ware however that’s the order of the result with O’Neil taking the win Leary second and Beer 3rd, The Vets Clubman battle was between Roger Billam, Phil George and Marl Beecham with all 3 on 17laps, The Clubman class battle was between Liam Gooding, Jordan Ridgeway and Nicki Whiles all on 18laps Gooding and Jordan Ridgeway had a few swops and changes and a fuel stop battle but it was Gooding who came out top in the end with Jordan Ridgeway second and early leader Nikki Whiles third, In the battle of the Novice class it was led from start to finish by Richard Powell winning with 17 laps second was Sam Peake 16 laps and third Lewis James also on 16 laps.
Lastly great display and win buy Matt Ridgeway winning buy an extra lap with Dakar rider Tim Foreman 2nd and well done to his 26th place in the 2013 Dakar, With CTR’s own Gethin Francombe finally getting a well-deserved podium finish, Big thanks to all involved congrats to all racers and thanks to the weather for finally coming out to play with CTR, Lastly thanks to land owner, 1st aiders, Lap scorers, Marshals, Sponsors and my new track builder helpers Van-Dykes and Jamie Jimbo Davies see you all for CTR SSC3 12.5.13.

Derek Bawn Wins a wet CTR EVENTS Summer Series Championship 2013 opener at an awesome Aberbeeg east south wales.

After a mixed week of race track building in east south Wales and with a full day Saturday and overnight heavy rain made for an exciting day, At 8am the rain stopped and the temperature was quite warm so not rain wet ground a some 6.5 mile cross country full enduro race course was set ready to take the pack of dirt bike racers.

So after a brief chat with CTR and at just after 11am the starter flag dropped setting loose the pack of Experts and as they negotiated the 1st corner it looked like Derek Bawn Tommy Francombe and Derry Milling grabbing the holeshot with Shaun Buchan and Gethin Francombe still on the line, Next away was the Vets with Ryan Leary seemed to be getting the hang of starts and grabbing the holeshot, Next to be released the clubman pack and Tim Saunders and Nicky Jones were tussling for the holeshot, Last to be let loose was the big pack of novice-beginners with Dan Stone taking the holeshot so as all the riders and their race bikes twisted and raced of into the distance all eyes were fixed on the bottom of the rocky gully and after some 12 minutes the 1st riders appeared as they climbed and twisted into sight of lap scoring it was CTR/TMUK’s rider Gethin Francombe on his TM 250 2T seemed that after his 2 back to back British Championship’s he was going to be the form rider to beat and with his bro Tommy next trough lap scoring Derek Bawn was hot on their tail with Neil Thomas and Derry Milling not far behind, 1st none expert through was Vet expert Dan Bishop with clubman Tim Saunders close behind, 1st Vets clubman rider around was Phil George with the 1st novice-beginner rider Lister Morris.

As the day and race progressed Gethin Francombe was passed by Milling as he got stuck behind a lapped rider so Gethin Francombe pitted and as he pulled away his chain snapped so as he repaired it all chances were gone so the order was Milling with Derek Bawn on a charge and Neil Thomas having a push loving the conditions and taking the I’m the dirtiest dirt rider award, Vets expert Dan Bishop was in control of his lead with Ryan Leary set in 2nd and Sam Jones 3rd, The Vet Clubman battle was being led by Phil George with Mark Beecham 2nd and Mike Crumb 3rd, The clubman race was led by Tim Saunders with Rhys Perkins on the charge and Dan Newman pushing close behind they had to keep on their game as the hungry pack were all snapping at their tails, The novice-beginner battle was led by Sam Peake with Paul Simmons and Lister Morris close behind.

As the race was coming to a close and with the chequered flag at the ready Derek Bawn was leading with Derry Milling 2nd and Neil Thomas 3rd, Dan Bishop wins the Vets expert class ahead of Ryan Leary with Sam Luke’s Dad Jones bringing home 3rd, The Vets clubman was taken by Phil George Mark Mini Beecham a great 2nd and Mike Woody Crumb 3rd, Clubman class was won by Tim Supper clubman Saunders with Rhys Perkins 2nd and 3rd going to Dan Newman, The novice-beginners class was won by Sam Peake with Paul Simmons 2nd and Lister Teeth Morris getting a well-deserved 3rd.

So after an extreme day of Enduro racing with fast open motocross riding very tight dark evergreen forest fast open fields farm road racing cambers descents stream climbing and twisting hills CTR dropped the finish flag and greeted everyone over the line and in a great off road dirtbike racing way everybody said great track awesome days riding se you in 2 weeks.

So thanks to all involved well down all competitors thanks landowner, the signing on and lap scoring girls the marshal men St Johns Moo Cow caterers and all sponsors, See you all on 28th April for CTR SSC RD 2 venue will be announced soon.
