Bolts brings it back for the Brits - Podium finish for Paul Bolton at Erzberg Report by Lisa Butterworth (Paul Bolton's better half) What an exhilarating weekend. The setting itself was enough to leave me awestruck. Blue skies, beaming sunshine and snow capped mountains, surrounded the towering iron ore mountain that is Erzberg. Full Report
Despite the constant drizzle which produced damp conditions and although down on the 4,000+ that have attended on a clear and dry night it was still a good crowd of 1,000 that turned up to see the opening round of the 2008 Welsh Open Motocross championships sponsored by P.A.R.Homes and Bache's Bargains held at Cwmythig hill, near Rhayader - Details

It seems I'm not the only one who likes to break-up a working week with a Wednesday evening Enduro. Just two years ago the Southern Counties Enduro Club held their very first evening event which attracted 66 riders, but the 2008 evening series opener was full to bursting with over 150! Plus, it had an impressive line-up. Full report
Jason was back in action again on Sunday at the second round of the Alberta Dirtriders Endurocross series, held at the specially built Corner Grass circuit near Compeer, on the border between Alberta & Saskatchewan, Canada. Jason reports that the track had been superbly prepared & some rain on Saturday just helped to make the tricky obstacles even more fun! Jason was once more riding his KTM200XC,which is proving to be the perfect machine for this type of event. He gained the victory after a great battle with Luke Firth in the qualifier,& then went on to take a comfortable win in the main race. He was followed home by the hard charging Jason Schrage (KTM) in 2nd & the very fast Luke Firth (YAMAHA) in 3rd. Jason would like to congratulate the organisers of the event on the very high standard of track they had achieved, & he would also like to say a big thank you to Nick & Jason Schrage & ,of course, Alf Gurr at Lethbridge KTM. Jason would also like to pass on his congratulations to Paul Bolton for his superb 3rd place at the Erzberg Extreme event, well done Paul! There will be more reports from Jason very soon.

KTM Enduro Factory Team rider Taddy Blazusiak stamped his mark on the ’08 running of the Erzberg Rodeo in no uncertain terms this past weekend as the Polish extreme enduro star dominated the grueling Red Bull Hare Scramble event as well as comfortably topping the newly introduced Rodeo-X Endurocross. Finishing over 15 minutes ahead of his closest rival in the Red Bull Hare Scramble event, and in a time of just under one-hour and 20 minutes, Taddy claimed his second Erzberg victory in as many years. Despite his sizable winning margin Taddy was made to work hard for his victory, as a poor start resulted in him having to pass numerous riders during the early stages of the race. Forced to fight his way through the dust, as well as having to weave his way around the riders ahead of him on the early climbs, it wasn’t long until Taddy was in fourth position and catching KTM team mates Cyril Despres and Juha Salminen. Once past Cyril and Juha it was Andreas Lettenbichler who was the next rider in Taddy’s sights and before the half way stage of the race Taddy moved into the lead. Pushing hard to pull away from Lettenbichler the Pole saw his lead at the front of the race extend significantly as he worked his way through the toughest sections of the event. During the last 30 minutes of the race Taddy was unchallenged, with even the several newly introduced sections of the course unable to slow his pace. More
After Antoine Letellier's (Aprilia RXV 5.5) fantastic double overall victory in the two days leading up to the Iron Road of the 2008 Erzberg Rodeo (the extreme Enduro race), Nicolas Paganon (Aprilia RXV 4.5) put the icing on the cake by finishing 12th in the Hare Scramble. It was the first time that a twin motorcycle reached the final finish line at the top of Mt. Erzberg. The fantastic weekend for Team Aprilia Off Road thus finished in the best way possible after Thierry Van Den Bosch (Aprilia SXV 4.5) won the European S1 Supermoto GP and Stefan Merriman (Aprilia RXV 5.5) enjoyed the same result in the Italian Enduro Championship. Team Aprilia Off Road Enduro is heading home with its head held high following the 2008 Erzberg Rodeo, the extreme Enduro race. After Antoine Letellier (atop the RXV 5.5) dominated on both Friday and Saturday in the lead-up to the Erzberg Rodeo Iron Road, the official team from Noale was again a great protagonist on Sunday, May 25th in the highly feared finale of the race: the Hare Scramble, or better yet, the dizzying climb to the top of Mt. Erzberg. Letellier was absent from the race (engaged in an event in Germany organized by the national importer), so the torch was passed to Nicolas Paganon. The Frenchmen finished 12th with his Aprilia RXV 450, making history since never before in the 14 years of the event has a twin motorcycle reached the finish line of what is considered the queen race of all extreme competitions. Just think that of the 500 riders who qualified, only 36 of them (from 14 different nations and three continents) crossed the finish line. And it was all done under the awestruck crowd of 32,000 spectators. Thus ended a fantastic weekend for Team Aprilia Off Road; the best possible finish after the victories of Thierry Van Den Bosch (Aprilia SXV 4.5) in the European S1 Supermoto Gp and Stefan Merriman's (Aprilia RXV 5.5) overall victory in Colleferro in the Italian Enduro Championship.
