The Dirtbike-traxs team spent a lot of time altering the Ellington track to provide yet another outstanding winter event for the 250 riders that turned out for the husqvarna hare scramble. The superb Ellington facilities come into their own in the winter months, providing tarmac car parking and a course that is ultimately ride-able no matter what the weather conditions are. North Yorkshire was battered by severe gales that lasted from Friday to the early hours of Sunday morning. Saturday saw the dirtbike-traxs team cutting fallen trees from the main road in order to allow the competitors access to the venue. The team were then back in action at 4;30 am Sunday after the gales had subsided to tape the track. The conditions for the race could not have been better with the sun shining and a mild day, the gales had dried the track. The track comprised of a purpose built 4x4 off-road track with camel humps, steep descents and fast woodland tracks. At 9am the bikes roared into life with the experts leading the field away. Paddy Langhan making his return to competitive riding after 14 months out with a knee injury took the hole shot leading the riders through the quarry and into the woods for the first time. But it was Martin Sandiford on board his Team Sandiford crf250x who came back to lap scoring first. Martin was looking stylish over the jumps but smashed his rear brake calliper on a rock on lap 2 which slowed his progress down. The Biffstar arrived at the venue late and started nearly a lap down on the leaders on his team sandiford crf250x Honda, but soon got into the swing setting the fastest lap of the day. Martin Sandiford was holding his own despite no rear brakes, as Darren gill on a ktm was in second place putting in some quick laps. But it was Martin who took a well deserved expert class win from second place Darren Gill with the Biffstar in third. The 0/40 class was won by Steve Pattinson from Husaberg mounted Bill Howe in second with Nick Fox third. Jeremy Ashby getting in some valuable bike time in preparation for his trip to le Toquet next week came second in the competitive clubman class. Billy Robinson took the win in the popular sportsman class on his husqvarna 125, while Thomas Healey lead the senior A youth home. Despite the conditions leading up to the event with the high winds, fallen trees and all the track tape blown down, the dirtbike-traxs team managed once again to produce another professional event. Dirtbike-traxs are holding the second of the Husqvarna hare scrambles at the excellent Nord Vue venue between Carlisle and Penrith on the 10th of February which is an excellent winter venue.

The hard working dirtbike-traxs team have spent the last two weeks revamping the course at the outstanding Nord Vue track near Penrith, posting and grading the outer fell and creating new loops in the quarry area. While most of the surrounding area was water logged the sandstone nature of the Nord Vue terrain and the height ensures the course was relatively dry for the full house entry. The weather had been warm and very spring like all weekend apart from the first 45 minutes of the race as the sun burnt back the early morning mist to reveal glorious sunshine. Full Report
The second round of the Putoline XC Championship ran on a beautifully clear, sunny Saturday and Sunday in Kent, a far cry from the muddy opening round in Shropshire. The event ran on M.O.D. land close to Chatham, hastily arranged when the Culham venue became unavailable. It was a little further to travel for many competitors but it was well worth the long drive South. The Putoline XC Championship is a National event and this season will see more new venues added to the list. Full Report

Many said before its start that the winner of the fifth edition of Hell's Gate would have been the heir of David Knight, three times winner on top of the Hell's Peak. They were right, but the couldn't imagine how big he would have written his signature on the extreme enduro race of Fabio Fasola. Tadeusz victory was clear as crystal water, as everybody saw since the very beginning of the wonderful Tuscan race. Full Report Other news
