La Course Infernale 2008 - Normandy France - 2nd March

The infernal course - Ain't that the truth! Report by Tamsin Jones

It was definitely harder than I expected. Sounds pretty fun don't it: 40 mins Hare and Hounds, followed by a 40 min  extreme test, followed by a motorcross then enduro test then a grass track finisher. What they failed to put in the regs was, really hard going in between and if it rains double the time for the extreme section. All in all about a 7 hour event. Full Report

The Secret of Turkish Delight

When you think of motorcycle off road holidays, its Spain, France, and Portugal that springs to mind. Well, the Dutch and the German’s have been keeping a secret from us Brits, nothing new there I hear you say. They are flying a little further (4 hour flight) to a country that is possibly the best place in the world to go off road motorcycle riding. They won’t let on but they ride every conceivable type of terrain imaginable, graded gravel tracks, where a 525 exc spends most of its time in 6th gear with the tail hanging out. Rough stony tracks that work the suspension to its limit. Then they spend the next hour honing their trials skills in a river bed, then up the bank onto a sandy track which leads through trees to a single goat trail, this climbs hundreds of meters up a mountain, ending with a perfect view out over the Mediterranean Sea. That was just the first morning, but as I thought they are not saying anything. Even if asked they will say nothing about the locals that don’t mind off road motorcyclists or the Germans for that matter! Not a word, that its possible to ride here “Off Track” yes just set that gps compass and ride  for hours!! What they also won’t tell you is the food and the hospitality puts Europe to shame. I doubt they will say about  the flights being cheap as long as your flexible about the timings. If pushed, they may just mention that it’s Turkey, and there are hundreds of them enjoying the best off road holiday they have ever had. But hay why wait to find out from the Dutch and the Germans take a look at http://www.taurustrax.com  or speak to the UK rep, Jon on 07973319343

Dave gets it Wright

After a full week of "marking out and cutting in" an entirely brand new Hare & Hounds lap at Abram, the newly formed rideoffroadUK crew were looking forward to the first ever running of this new series of events. With the course looking like a cross country test from the WEC all the riders were fully briefed as to the importance of staying between the tapes and keeping to the marked course, needless to say all riders behaved like true sportsman and stayed on the marked course.
