Even with the wet summer that we've enjoyed this year, each event I've been to has been pretty dry. Don't get me wrong, there's always a section or two that includes a stream or river to dampen things down a little, but the Southern Counties Enduro Club event on the 28th October proved that Dorset's monsoon season is definitely at the latter part of the year. Red Bull KTM Off Road Race Team rider David Knight is the '07 US Grand National Cross Country Champion. Full Report The Scottish Championship The Scottish Championship has been decided for each class with one round remaining. The Scottish Championship is continuing to grow with up to 160 riders at each event. The final round is this weekend at Lumsden near Aberdeen with just the Clubman sub classes to be confirmed. There has been eight rounds so far with only two rounds cancelled due to the weather. Expert Murray Thomson - Clubman Neil Chatham - Over 40 Sean Woolley - Sportsman Liam Beatty
Neil Chatham secured the Scottish Clubman Enduro Championship at the Melville Motor Club two day Enduro at Yarrowford Selkirk recently. It could have been quite a different year for Neil as he fractured his arm at an event in April. Luckily for Neil he had six weeks until the next round which gave his arm time to heal. Neil won four of the nine Championship rounds and never finished lower than 2nd.; Neil even won the event were he fractured his arm.. It was confirmed as a fracture that evening when he went to Hospital to have his arm checked out. These results were achieved while competing down south in the British Enduro Championship on virtually every other weekend and he had some class wins and finished 7th overall and third in his class. The severe weather has made both Championships really tough and a couple of events were forced to cancel. The most difficult events were the four rounds in Wales during the worst of the rain. Neil is hoping to compete again in the British Championship next year.
Crowe flies to Penrith win The Dirtbike-traxs team have spent weeks building a high quality track and hard standing car parking area at the Nord Vue venue near Penrith. The venue comprises of a large sand stone quarry which leads on to Blaze Fell with its sweeping bermed corners, long straights and technical sections. It makes this one of the best all weather tracks in the UK. Dirtbike-traxs have leased the land and while building the Xcountry course have also created some extreme routes which will run along side the extreme natural hazards that the venue contains, in preparation for the ultimate extreme Xcountry race which is set to run next year. Sunday the 30th of September gave the Dirtbike-traxs team a chance to test out the new venue with a 2 hours National Putoline Xcountry race and an afternoon of practice. The 2 hour race was well supported and at 9. 45 am the race got under way. On the front row saw the return of Harry Lampkin (above) after a 3 year lay off on a Sandiford Honda. He got off to a poor start but soon worked his way through the field to return into the quarry first. He was easily the fastest man during the race. Marcus Firth and Anthony Crowe were battling it out for clubman top spot with Anthony taking the win from Marcus with Simon nuttier in third less than 2 minutes separated the 3 riders all completed 14 laps. In the sportsman class Chris Berrill on his yz took the win from John Curwin, with Malcolm Barrett in third. In the senior A class for youth riders , Harrogate's Rob Dawson was on a mission and screamed his ktm 125 to complete 14 laps taking the win from James Allinson and Joshua Luckup in third. These 3 young riders would have taken the top 3 places in the adult novice class, well done !! In a well supported novice class Martin Allinson took top honours from Phillip Robson. Once the race had finished it was on with the practice. The turn out for the day was an excellent 180 riders racing or taking part in the practice and the feed back from them was excellent. With 3 kilometres more track to add in for the championship round in November the course will be awesome..
