MERCIAN DIRT RIDERS held the first round of their 2009 Enduro series at ABERBEEG. The weather was in complete contrast to last year when it rained all day with gale force winds. Details.
Experienced rally rider, Simon Pavey has secured a second place finish in the 450 production class in the 2009 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge and was 11th overall. The tough rider faced a number of challenges over the five-day event and has also secured valuable FIM Cross-Country Rally World Championship points. The BMW Off Road Skills Chief Instructor has battled in the top three positions in class during the event, which has seen his triumph and suffer to make his impressive second place finish. Pavey endured severe dehydration and was put on a drip after day three and managed to recover to complete the Rally. MPS Racing Husqvarna's Si Wakely has scored his first World Enduro Championship points of the season with a 14th place result in the Enduro 2 class on day one of the GP of Portugal, staged in Penafiel. Moving into the senior ranks of the WEC for the first time after several years in the Enduro Junior class, Si placed as the second highest non-factory supported rider in the E2 category after putting in a consistent and largely mistake free day's riding. Ride- XC's 2009 cross country series got underway at Abram motopark Wigan, with fantastic weather conditions leading up to the event the team had been busy undertaking some extensive track repairs to the popular northwest venue.
