 ACU British XC Championship

Jason Thomas wins at Canada Heights
British XC Championship - Rd 3
Report & Photos by Bob Mullins

The sand of Kent's Canada Heights MX track was the venue for this weekend's 3rd & final round of the inaugural ACU British XC Championship. With the South East experiencing another dry summer, the ground was parched & dusty. Clerk of the Course Kurt Pringle & his Sidcup MCC team wove together an intricate 5 mile lap that was full of interesting features. Beyond the MX track, the course threaded it's way through a wood over logs before bursting out into the sunlight for a mile of stubble trouble around a mowed field & there was a rock pile with an easy & a hard route. The second half of the course was through another wooded section where the track was narrow & the surrounding vegetation held the dust in the still air. Report & Results

A fantastic weekend was had by all at the Close Motor Finance Metzeler Melville Scottish Enduro Championship at Yarrowford near Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. Richard Hay still recovering from a serious injury topped the results on Saturday. Richard has astounded his competitors and medical advisors with his incredible self belief not allowing his injury to hold him back winning for the second time this year. Derek Little and Frazer Norrie followed Richard home in second and third with weather that provided perfect riding conditions. Details

Healey battles it out at Gisburn

Dirtbike-Traxs returned to the ever popular venue of Gisburn in Lancashire for the last time this year for Round 7 of the National Putoline Hare Scramble Championships.

After months of glorious dry weather, Lancashire had been hit by some pretty heavy rain fall over the previous few days, but when DBT turned up on the Wednesday to set up the track the weather had took a turned for the better, with blue skies and temperatures back up to the 20s. The fine start was not to last long though, as on Saturday evening, the heavens opened up yet again, with a constant drizzle that lasted well into the early hours of Sunday morning. The crowds that decided to camp over on the Saturday night were not put off by the sudden down pour and it was not long before the barbeques were out in force. Report & results

  Rhayader MCC

Saturday Night Fever 2
Report by Bob Mullins

Rhayader MCC held the second & final round of their Saturday Evening series at Cwmythig hill on the 24th July. A week of intermittent showers had sprinkled the ground & the course was in perfect condition. As an extra bonus the club had included most of the MX track into the 4 mile lap but not the Ski Jump & the Wall of Death for safety reasons. Report - Results - Photos & Keith Bowen

British Teams withdraw from the ISDE 2010

At a meeting of the Trials & Enduro Committee held at Rugby on 28th July the participation of the British Teams in the 2010 ISDE was reviewed. Following the withdrawal of all Club teams and experienced Support Personnel it was concluded that the ACU would not send a Trophy or Junior Trophy team to this year’s event.
Influencing factors included -:
• Serious security concerns in MoreIia
• Consequent insurance problems /Advice from ACU Insurers
• Escalating costs of freight transportation
• Reports from both the British Team Manager and Logistics Co-ordinator
No further comments will be made.

  SACU
Withdrawal of GB Teams from 2010 ISDE It is with regret I must announce the withdrawal of the SACU Team from this years ISDE. After discussions with Sam Davidson it was clear that no other UK teams would be going to the ISDE due to the worsening security situation in Mexico. In addition with the withdrawal of all the other UK teams there would not be enough support crews available to man checks and help the riders. Sam has done a great job of organising the team so far and our thanks go to him for his efforts. Campbell Chatham has been very active in fund raising again this year getting sponsorship from Close Motor Finance and organising a very successful fund raiser at Selkirk on Sunday. All the funds raised will go to next years effort when we expect to have a team for Finland. Thanks to everyone for their efforts this year Regards Charlie Mackenzie SACU Enduro Chairman

Track n Trail Thrills at the Deverills

Race report by Track n Trail  Photographs Janpix

With rain threatening to pour between 7am and 10am, the Track n Trail Team were pleased that the strong winds gusted the clouds away from Longbridge Deverill, in time for the racers to climb the long, steep entrance to the top of this hilly venue. Once at the top everyone was rewarded by breathtaking panoramic views across Wiltshire. Full Report
