The golden Summer of 2010 continued & this weekend the sun shone on the picturesque Welsh town of Knighton for the CWAC 4th round of Metzeler ACU British Enduro Championship. The Central Wales club have an excellent start area with a large hard standing in a factory car park & a camping field beyond. The Puoline Suzuki Fast Eddy & KORR KTM teams were the first to arrive & they set up camp close to the start. While the riders walked the tests, their mechanics fettled their bikes. Only David Knight's KTM sat on it's stand unmolested in a state of readiness that was almost menacing. Full Report

Tom Sagar came back to the GBXC series with a bang at the weekend, winning round three of the championship, held at Great Ayton in North Yorkshire in convincing style. To confirm the GBXC credentials as a truly National championship the team moved north for the 3rd round to Great Ayrton in Yorkshire. Speaking at the Welsh, Paul Edmondson explained that he would like to vary the going in every round to give each rider the opportunity to shine & the 4 mile long lap at Great Ayrton - with its climbs & descents - would suit the technical specialist. On the day the weather was fine & the ground - away from the bog - was dry & firm. The AM race was for the Sportsman, Veterans, Youths & Novices. Vet Craig Parkes from Redditch took the win with 14 laps from Sportsman Jeremy Callow. Gary McCoy was 3rd & he took the Vets runner up award & Keith Jenkins in 4th completed the Vets podium. If fact 6 out of the top 7 were Vets. Brad Freeman in 8th was the best Youth. Aaron Edwards was the runner up & Michael Gilby just pipped Jon Hill to 3rd place. Welshmen Harry Hillier-Rees was runner up in the Sportsman class ahead of Gareth Owens. Mark Hillier-Rees was 4th. Gavin Tatchell won the Novice class ahead of Tom Granger & David Simpkin - both from Market Harborough. AM Results For the PM race, the GBXC team tightened the screw with the inclusion of an epic hill. Tom Sagar, who elected to miss the second round of the series in Devon, after suffering from tendonitis, was back on top in the series that he won in 2009, taking the third round win with a lead of over six minutes. Gary Daniels in 2nd won the best Experts award & Pro James Jackman kept the Championship in his sights with a 3rd. Oliver Hart from Penrith was 4th & he took the Experts runner up award. More Welshmen swept over the finishing line with Derek Bawn in 5th completing the Experts podium & Sam O'Neil from Maesteg in 6th. Rhys Davies in 7th won the Clubman 2T & Alex West in 8th was the runner up. Luke Williams in 9th was the best Clubman 4T ahead of Richard Cookland. PM Results After the race Sagar commented, "It's good to be back and even better to be back on top. To be honest it pretty much ran like clockwork and with the British Championship around the corner I didn't want to take any silly risks today. As ever, the RMX450Z ran perfectly and just continues to impress me more and more. If we can carry on like this, then there's a chance I can put a championship title under the Suzuki's belt in it's debut year, which would be nice." Sadly for teammate Lee Edmondson, he would not enjoy such a successful day after being forced to retire through injury. Team manager, Paul Edmondson, commented, "Well done to Tom. The most important thing from this round is that he's finished it injury free. We've got some big events ahead of us, and while it's important to stay fit and healthy he needs to be on a bike as much as possible to stay fit, so events like this are important for him. Lee on the other hand had a bit of an off today, but it doesn't seem too serious, so should be out at the next event." On Friday riders, marshalls, crews all gathered in the warm sunshine at the start of the Ryedale Rally and soon the smoke from the BBQ's was soaring lazily up into the warm evening air.The lads from Mid Wales had the most luxurious digs compete with camp beds and chilled out waiting for their start time. The parc ferme was filled with a wide range of machinery-a raft of proper rally bikes-a bevvy of BMW's - a gaggle of twin shock two strokes -two triumphs -a mix of genuine trail bikes followed by a krowd of KTM's. It is a rare opportunity for riders to enjoy the fabulous tracks through the forests of North Yorkshire and the National Park and out over the spectacular moors-this is what rallies are all about, socialising and great scenery. At the day one out petrol check it was a chance to fix punctures, refill with fuel, enjoy a burger and cup of tea and check that address for the delivery of the pizza! In the dry conditions dust was a problem along with the inconsiderate overtaking when slower riders were peppered with stones. Some so big that a hole was punched in the Special Test Start board! Saturday's route would take riders 7 hours to complete and there were some very dirty bikes and riders due to the mud holes and then the clouds of dust clung to the wet parts. Sunday was dry again and - even though the wind got up - the forecast rain did not arrive. A shorter day along mostly forest roads was over all to soon. Another great event from the hard working team and marshalls who stood on road crossings and worked hard on the forest tests pulling the big bikes out of the holes. More
Rhayader M.C held the first round of their Saturdaay Evening Hare 'n Hounds on the 3rd July at Cwmythiig Hill. The 4 mile course had served as the Welsh 2 Day Special Test the week before but it was in excellent condition. It snaked over the open hillside & for the most part it was easily visible to the spectators in the paddock. Alan Bates dropped the flag on the Experts at 6.00pm & Lewis Belfield took the holeshot. Lewis picked up points at the European Enduro Championship round in Poland last week & he would be busy this weekend. As well as Rhayader on Saturday he would be competing in the Powys on Sunday. The Experts were followed by the ranks of Clubman, Over 40s & Sportsman. The forecast rain showers did not arrive during the day & the dust was a problem as the riders jockeyed for position in the opening laps but there were few hidden surprises. As the race progressed the soft sandy soil heaped up on the corners to form little dunes that absorbed the wheels. The bigger bikes ploughed their way through & Andy Watkins on a 450 KTM was the overall winner with 18 laps from Chris Morris on a 450 Suzuki. Lewis Belfield was 3rd. Ryan Faulks was the best Clubman & Marc Evans was the runner up. Andrew Cooper was 3rd Aled Price 4th & Matt Willey 5th. They all completed 17 laps. Wyn Hope won the Vets from Andrew Prosser. They also clocked up 17 laps. Before the event Wyn said "i enjoy riding as much today as I did 20 years ago". Rhian George was the best Lady - with 15 laps - ahead of Theresa Keightley who did well to clock up 13 laps on a big Yamaha 450. Thanks to the Rhayader team for a cracking evening.- Results - Photos
The third Rock Oil British Amca Hare & Hound Championship was staged at Owthorpe between Leicester & Newark on Sunday 27th June with a 3-year gap since this venue was last used. A lot of hard work was needed to cut through the endless brambles and brash to create a fitting course for the riders. This was achieved with a 6.4 miles course of Woodland and open going. The woods were split into two halves to break things up a little - the first section was 2.4 miles of woodland and then open headland - 2 miles in length and then another 2 miles of woodland to complete the lap. This worked well and gave the riders a break from the heat, which was the hottest day of the year so far. So onto the race - Full Report & Results

With 69 Ironmen & ladies and 50 team entries the 2nd PMCRC 5hr Ironman event, in aid of the Hampshire & IOW Air ambulance, was a sell out well in advance of the event. A lot of effort went into the whole organisation of the event with the focus on having fun. A handful of club members spent 2 days setting up a fast & flowing track with a few man made obstacles thrown in for good measure. With a 3 route choice it gave the novices the option to avoid 'Lawrence's log pit' and head for the double log jump or take the much longer easy route. Report & results
