All smiles for Sampson

Dirtbike-Traxs had a venue change from the original advertised venue and went to the all woodland track at Helmsley in North Yorkshire for Round 8 of the National Putoline Hare Scramble Championship and with it came a weather change after 7 rounds of reasonable conditions. The track is without question the toughest of XC venues with tight tree sections, long rutted fire breaks and the inevitable tree stump to avoid and it was to get tougher when the conditions took a turn for the worst prior to race day. Hatcliffe in the Lincolnshire Wolds hosted round four of the rideoffroaduk Doodson Motorsport Championship last Sunday August 8th. With the Lincolnshire weather being at its best, as competitors arrived in this beautiful part of the country they were praising the ride team for unearthing yet another new venue. With perfect camping and access this venue should develop into a great hare & hounds site which will only be used twice per year. Report & Results

Cwm Owen
Round 8 of the ET James Welsh Enduro Championship
Report Wayne James & photos Bob Mullins

Builth Wells MC's inspired decision to revive their classic open moorland enduro last year on Cwm Owen was recognised this year by it's inclusion in the ET James Welsh Enduro Championship. This helped to attract some top names in the Championship / Expert classes as well as a good entry in the Veteran / Clubman class. The course was a 35 mile figure of eight with two time checks and one special test, all located near the start/ finish area. This made it more enjoyable for the riders pit crews, as there was nearly always a bike to watch around the test. It was a great sight to watch the championship riders going around the grassy test. A good sized entry of just over 80 riders turned up to ride. The weather had been mainly dry on the weeks leading up to the event, which meant the ground was pretty hard and the course was going to be all ride-able. Report & Results

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: Results for rider numbers 69 Jack Twentyman and 82 Tom Moore are under investigation for "Verbally abusive language to FEMALE marshals" The marshals are there for your safety and do not need any sort of abuse at all. We are considering what penalty to enforce at the moment though it does state in our rules section "15-Rider Behaviour".
Also, just to clarify the "youth rider assistance" in the youth race is that a helper age 18 and above is allowed to follow on a motorcycle with hi-vis vest group 4 riders only ( ages 6 to 10 ) unless they are a complete beginner in any other group.
 GBXC
Tom Sagar won the 4th Round of the 2010 GBXC series at Berwyn Leisure Park on Sunday 8th August with Putoline Suzuki FasteddyRacing.com team mate Lee Edmondson in 2nd. Lincoln Brewster was 3rd, KB Racing's Lewis Belfield 4th & Poole Yamaha's James Jackman was 5th. Steve Holcombe in 6th won the Experts. Gary Daneils 7th, Derek Bawn 8th & Oliver Hart completed the line up of riders who clocked up 12 laps. Rhys Davies in 13th was the best Clubman. The morning race was dominated by the Vets. 11 out of the top 13 who all clocked up 8 laps were over 40. Dave Selked won the overall & Keith Jenkins was the runner up. Joe Wootton in 5th interrupted the march of the dinosaurs to win the Youth class & Jeremy Callow in 11th was the best Sportsman.
With slippery conditions at the start of the day, Sagar and Edmondson began in convincing form, ending the opening lap in first and second. With a great combination of hilly, fast and technical sections, Sagar opened up an advantage of three and a half minutes on his RMX450Z over teammate Edmondson on his 250cc Suzuki by the end of the event.
Tom Sagar commented, "A great event and a great result for us. To be honest it all ran like clockwork and the RMX was superb. I just need to turn this positive result into another this weekend coming, as we head to round five of the British Championship at Dyfi"
Lee Edmondson added, "I'm pleased to finish on the podium and as the best 250. I didn't have an easy start to the year after my injury, but it's all moving in the right direction now and I'm really enjoying my racing."
Team manager, Paul Edmondson, was feeling much more upbeat about his team's performance, adding, "Well done to both the lads. They rode well in the morning and afternoon to give us a great result, and one that gives us confidence after a difficult British Championship round a few weeks ago. In truth, we needed this result to help our motivation, so I'm hopeful for a return to the top this weekend coming."  - Results

 THOMAS ROCKS ON IN ROCKLAND.
Team Duroy Racing/ KTM Canada/LRP/Monster Energy's Jason Thomas made it 6 victories from 6 starts in this season's FMSQ Cross-Country Championship on Sunday in Rockland, Ontario, Canada. Racing a KTM250XC two-stroke machine, The 26 year-old British rider had another great ride at the popular & impeccably well organized FMSQ event, giving the large crowd plenty of entertainment along the way!! Jason had this to say after the race: "Its been really great to come back to Canada after my summer vacation in the U.K. & take another win here in Ontario. I actually only managed to get one full weekend off this summer, because I was offered a guest ride on a KTM250XC in the U.K. by Richard Baker of VCRacing,& my long-time friend & supporter Rudy Austin. I had a great time with them,& was really pumped to win a couple of races, especially the British Cross-Country Championship round at Canada Height's last weekend. It was good to see some old friends again in the U.K., particularly Ady Smith & Mark Gessey, both of whom played a very big part in helping me get to where i am today. I would like to thank everybody who helped me whilst i was back home,& also say a very big thank you to my sponsors here in Canada this weekend, Jef at Duroy, Andy at KTM, Allan & Ann at LRP, the team at Monster Energy, O'Neal Clothing, Maxxis Tires, Motovan, Forma Boots & 'X' Brand Goggles." Jason has now returned to the United States to begin preparations for the 2nd half of the GNCC season, but will be back racing in Canada again at the next round of the FMSQ Cross-Country Championship, taking place on Sunday 22nd August, at Ormstown, Quebec.
 Lee Edmondson
Edmondson out for rest of season

Team Putoline Suzuki by www.fasteddyracing.com rider, Lee Edmondson, has today announced his withdrawal from competitive action for the remainder of the season, after being advised by doctors that his foot injury from last season has still not healed.

Edmondson, who returned from injury in May after breaking his metatarsal bones, finished runner-up only last weekend at the GBXC event on his RM-Z250, but having experienced discomfort with his injury, decided to seek further medical advice.

Lee explained, "I've really enjoyed being back on the bike since my accident last year, but my foot just didn't feel like it was improving so after this weekend's GBXC round I decided to see my consultant. He's taken another look and it seems that three Metatarsal bones are still broken so naturally I need to get this sorted, before I can even think about riding again."

Team manager, Paul Edmondson, commented, "We're all really gutted for Lee. He's ridden well since coming back from that nasty injury and as this weekend proved at the GBXC he's capable of challenging for wins again. However, the injury is bad and he simply can't afford to risk causing more damage, so we're unanimous in the decision for him to sit-out the remainder of the season."

The team will focus on this weekend's round five of the Metzeler British Enduro Championship at Dyf, where Paul Edmondson and Tom Sagar will be flying the Suzuki flag.

Daniel Price was injured on the weekend at Herrington. "He had an op on Sunday night to reset his hip joint & he is now back on the ward in traction. Battered and bruised but he will be ok!" Messages
