Jamie Paget wins 2008 Long Mynd Hare & Hounds
Sunday Oct 21st
Report by Geraint Rogers, Clerk of the Course. Results

Sunday 26th October saw the Manchester 17 club run their Forest Based Hare and Hounds under clear skies on a section of the Long Mynd range. Although run as a Hare and Hounds the course is set out in an Enduro style with the same type of going you'd expect to find at one and in this lies a lot of its appeal.

WORLD ROUND CARLISLE - 17.May.09 - Nord Vue near Armathwaite Carlisle will host the UK round of the SPEA World Trial ChampionshipIt's all go for Dirtbike-traxs and the World Trial at Carlisle

The FIM visited the Nord Vue venue Carlisle on Monday 3rd of November for homologation of the site. Inspecting the facilities on behalf of the FIM was Jean-Marc Crumiere and after several hours on site he was pleased with what he saw. The site has a lot to offer the SPEA World Trials Championship with access straight off the M6/A6, excellent paddock areas which are secure and offers the required hard standing.

The sections are based in the quarry and as Jean-Marc saw most are already in place. With unlimited amounts of rock and natural features Graham Jarvis - in charge of section construction - has plenty to work with when he constructs the final few sections. Present at the meeting was Jean-Marc Crumiere FIM, Dave Willoughby ACU, Ian Murphy clerk of the course, Mick Wren assistant clerk of the course, John Kerwin event director and Graham Jarvis section construction.  Dirtbike-traxs have assembled a good team which will deliver a world class event to Cumbria in May next year. With the experience of Ian Murphy acting as clerk of the course and with Mick Wren as his assistant Dirtbike-traxs have brought together a wealth of experience and knowledge. John Kerwin said, "we are still looking for a main sponsor. We have not pursued this up to now as everything depended on today’s visit. Now jeam-marc has given the go ahead for the event we will be actively seeking sponsorship for this world class event . We plan to have a special ticket offer before Xmas which will offer a significant saving on tickets purchase before Jan 1st 2009.  Full details will be on www.worldtrialuk.com  soon.

Cornick goes all-out at Stonedown

Report: Lee Davey Images: Imageconsortium.co.uk

With the wet summer that we've enjoyed this year, a dry-days racing really is something to savour. The SCEC venue at Stonedown Forest near Sixpenny Handley really is a cracker and is obviously helped in the exclusivity stakes by only being allowed to run one event every two years; and sadly for me, I missed the last one. Should you be sad enough (like me) to fantasise about courses to ride, then this Forestry Commission beauty is one not to be missed. Flowing forest tracks with enough obstacles in the way to give you a reality check. Tight bits, slow bits and nothing serious enough to bunch 29 Sportsman riders together into an impregnable shield. There were hills too, but again, nothing to induce a premature bail-out; just challenging in an enjoyable way. Sightseeing isn't recommended at an Enduro as trees can be unforgiving when hit at speed, but if there was ever a venue that deserves a second-look, this is it. Full report
