Another great days racing was laid on by the Chiltern Hills Enduro Club on Sunday the 17th of May. This was despite the weather turning and heavy rain falling the night before and during the morning session. The course was a good mix of fast open fields with tight woodland tracks, as well as some challenging hills inside the woods. The layout was universally praised by everyone taking part and there were several new routes laid out to keep it interesting for everyone. ‘Interesting’ is one word, but for the novice riders the early laps were a bit more of a challenge! The rain had made the hillsides very tricky so the marshals were kept on their toes helping fallen riders back onto their feet and this led some to call it a day after a few laps. However they missed out on an absolute cracking second half as the sun soon came out and the track dried quickly leaving plenty of grip and the lap times came tumbling down. Last meeting’s winner KTM mounted Gavin Maggs was on fine form and hoping for a repeat performance, but this time he was beaten back into second place by the winner, rider number 120 Daniel Rose. Last years overall champion David Garland (Honda) took third from an ever improving John Horton who finished forth riding his Husqvarna. Roll on the next meeting at Penn Wood on the 28th of June!
