Any event held in the middle of a Welsh winter will always be a hostage to fortune but for the Mid Wales Dirt Track club their first round of the 2012 Doodsons ACU British Enduro Championship was a Baptism of fire even though a fire would have struggled to take hold as 50 mph winds, hail, rain and snow buffeted the exposed mountain venue. Allyn Scotland wins Incident Packed Melville Hare and Hound

Incredibly it was another beautiful day at Lochhouses Farm for the third round of the SACU Metzeler Melville Hare and Hound Scottish Championship on Sunday. All five races at this incredible venue have been blessed with superb weather throughout the winter months. The ground was frozen when the riders arrived but by the time the race began at 11.00am the track was in perfect condition for the 130 riders and there was not a cloud in the sky. Details

A new track at Thorncombe was the venue for round two of the track n trail championship and what a place! The course had a little bit of everything to make a great enduro loop and would have been superb had it been a little dryer. Final round of the Autumn / Winter Enduro scrambles series.

The wet weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of the riders at WOR Events last competitive outing of 2011. Running in one of the clubs awesome forestry complexes, over a long. Flowing and hard standing loop, the riders battled against the elements on Christmas Friday to round out the 5th and final round of the autumn / Winter Enduro Scrambles series in style.

Torrential Rain came and soaked the venue for 3 days before the event, but the nature of the terrain in the forest soaked up the drink and allowed a great event to unfold. Details

8th January - Tong,  Yorkshire

The 2nd round of the Eddys X-treme series returned to Tong, West Yorkshire on Sunday 8th January. Paul Edmondson stayed close to the formal that proved so successful last year and once again attracted the elite of Britain's World class Extreme riders. David Knight, Jonny Walker and Graham Jarvis walked the course on Saturday. David had a disastrous first round with a temperamental gear selector and Santa had brought him a double hernia operation so he thought Tong would be less about racing and more like physiotherapy. One new feature of the course that fired a lot of debate was a possible jump across an 8 foot wide ditch with a short run up. It would prove to be crucial element on the day. The third and final round of the Fast Eddy Motoduro series very nearly turned into another extreme event as weather conditions worsened throughout the day and gave riders the toughest challenge yet in the whole series.

Ashby Motoparc was in fine condition at the start of the day for six motoduro races but wet weather before the event and heavy rain from midday onwards made the going tough for most riders around both the MX loop, which had plenty of grip but covered every rider in sticky mud and the woodland section, which became very slippery in places, as race after race the track was pounded by the number of riders at the event. Team CTR put in a full week's work in some very testing and changing weather on this very beautiful and scenic welsh hill side with spectacular views of the valleys and the Bristol channel, A 3.5 mile cross country course was chiselled out off this valley with steep descents and hill climbs some man made some historical with coal slag and machined roads following of cambered fields road jumps and drop off's fast road blasts with switch backs and twist and turns all marked out with Mojo suspension tape. GH Dakar bound

Gavin Hockey Chairman of the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club is competing for the second time in the Inter Continental Rally which starts in Almeria Spain (Spain) and finishes in Dakar Senegal (Africa). Gavin flies out on Friday 27^th January to Almeria, over the weekend check his machine over and sign on ready to start on the Monday for a journey of nearly 4000 miles over 14 days. Details

he quarry and a tricky log section all linked together by the superb flowing woodland giving an average lap time of around 11 minutes.
